North Cyprus, Famagusta, Historic Old Walled City
About Shenis Hassan
I live in England with my Partner. I have Turkish Cypriot roots, I can speak fluent Turkish and my father was born in the Walled City of Famagusta. My partner and I visited the place and unknown to both of us we purchased a house in the street that my uncle and aunt live in. My family were delighted to hear of the news.
Shenis Hassan purchased this House in 2007
Why Shenis Hassan chose Famagusta Bay
We fell in love with the historic city, we were warmly welcomed by all the neighbours, by my many relatives and of course the Turkish Cypriot People. The refurbishment of the house has been a labour of love by us and the community.
What makes this House unique
The property is just five minutes walk from historic buildings, museum, restaurants, bars, banks, shops, beach, the marina, etc. There is generally little need for a car hire or taxi as the house is very central. Fully air conditionednewly modernised and fully equipped with a suntrap private walled garden which is very quiet and spacious with olive and fruit trees. There is a tiled covered gazebo area allowing barbecues to be used all year round and sun lounges with umbrellas.

Wonderful property in Famagusta
Lovely property made some suggestions re minor updates. Have recommended to a friend.
Famagusta is fantabulosa
Very comfortable- air con a lifesaver- as is the water cooler. Well maintained home from home with lovely garden.
Everything you need within walking distance-food entertainment and shopping - plus breakfast at Petek’s is something to look forward to. Walk to the local beach a grind when really hot but the anticipation of a dip in the warm calm shallow sea - spurs you on and worth it. Hiring a car to explore at your own pace also well worth it and inexpensive. Locals all helpful and friendly. Jackie - house manager is just the best!
The property was lovely very spacious house 3 good size bedrooms. And everything there that you need
Lovely property in a good area 2 min walk down the street from the centre nice bars eating areas scattered all around a taxi for 2 lira takes you to a beautiful beach in famagusta. Car hire very cheap and ideal for driving on the same side as you would do in England. Go to kyrenia if you get the chance beautiful place we did and stopped overnight. The British Hotel so cheap. All the currency on the north side including famagusta is lira. Which is much better deal than the euro. So cheap. Overall a lovely relaxing picturesque holiday.
Peaceful yet walking distance from town square
Lovely house and private courtyard. Everything we needed at hand.
Kitchen large and well equipped for eating in. Town centre five mins walk with selection of restaurants.
Car hire easy and cheap. Spectacular castles and Greco/Roman ruins to see.
Good supermarkets outside town walls.
Lovely, peaceful house
A lovely place to use as a jump off point to explore Cyprus. In the city walls, close to great restaurants, short car trip to amazing places. Rent a car to get around.
We booked to stay in this delightful house 2 days before we arrived,we were greeted with a welcome breakfast pack which was great as we arrived very late evening,Chris popped road in the morning to greet us and to give us all the information we may need, the house was very clean and had everything you could possibly ask for in a holiday let,the house is very close to shops and restaurants and 10-15 min walk to one of the best beachs in famagusta,we stayed in the first week of October and the weather was just wonderful, you have a lovely garden which is a sun trap from 9am - 2pm great if you like sun bathing as I do.Shenis the owner is great couldn't help enough, thank you ,we are hoping to return to this lovely place in June 2017 for a family wedding .
The marine and beach is a short walk away, approximately 20 minutes .
Ercan airport in the North of Cyprus and Larnaca in the South of Cyprus are both about an hours drive from the airports. A car is not strictly necessary if you want to relax in the city or a nearby beach. If you are feeling adventurous you could hire a car from Larnaca airport or Ercan, or taxi it to Famagusta and hire locally.
No need for a car as everything you need can be reached on foot but a perfect location for touring by car if you prefer sight seeing. Easy access to Iskele, Kyrenia, Nicosia and Karpaz with trouble free border crossing, should you wish to tour the South of Cyprus. Just to add icing to the cake the use of the Turkish lira brings Turkey prices making this a great value place to visit, where guests can afford to get the most out of their break by eating out (a bonus for the cook).

As part of the Turkish Cypriot hospitality looking after our guests is very important. To ensure this tradition is honoured our guests will be provided with a free welcome pack. So no matter how late or early you arrive the pack will be there to say ‘Welcome’. The pack may vary from time to time but will broadly include: 2 bottles of large chilled water from the water cooler, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, 6 eggs, bread and butter.
