Villa in Duquesa, Costa del Sol, 15minutes walk to Beach,Shops,Bars, Restaurants
About Julie Dunham
We purchased our villa in October 2014 after falling in love with the area and the property. The search had taken a mere 5 years! Refurbishment of the interior and the swimming pool was completed to a high standard in February 2015. We hope that you will enjoy the property as much as we do.

Nice Family Villa
We really enjoyed our stay in this Villa, there were 8 of us and it comfortably accommodated us all as the bedrooms, living space and outside was very spacious, although the kitchen was tiny for such a large Villa. Overall we had a great holiday here and would recommend to others as a great venue for a family holiday out of the hustle and bustle of being in a big resort.
WOW! STUNNING, LUXURIOUS VILLA.
We’ve been coming to Andalusia for some 30 years and this is the best property that we have rented in a fantastic and convenient location.
The owner, whose name is Julie, could not have been more helpful and friendly with the booking arrangements and any questions that we put to her.
The directions were spot on. The ‘meet and greet’ and the welcome pack were much appreciated.
The lovely traditional Andalusian style villa is located in a small, private, gated community with a golf course on one side and vineyards on the other. The villa is very well equipped with WiFi and Sky TV. Two of the upstairs bedrooms share a lovely balcony with views over the garden, pool and down to the sea. We had our evening aperitifs sat out here, all very relaxing!
The real ‘wow’ factor though is the outside area. The pool has a patio area surrounded by a well stocked garden containing orange, lemon and olive trees. There is a lawned area for the kids to play in and a large chimney barbecue. There is also a sheltered patio area if it gets too hot. This has folding glass curtains to convert into a large conservatory.
The pool has Roman style railed steps down into a shallow end, ideal for younger children. It is also heated (on request) so we have booked a winter stay for later in the year and another booking for next year, we really do love it that much!
We don’t agree with a previous review commenting on the approach road to the villa. Yes there is some damage to the road caused, we were told, by a winter storm, this will be repaired in due courseYou have the golf course on one side and a stream running down the other. There are trees lining the pavements and we understand that the 5 star hotel and leisure complex that you walk past, is going to be reopened. It’s a lovely 15-20 minutes walk down to the old town with its castle and lovely restaurants. Then it’s a nice further 10 minutes walk to the gorgeous marina with more restaurants and bars. We would recommend La Traviata in the marina La Maison de Castillo in the old town. A little bit further afield you have La Choza and San Rafaels. Supermarkets and other shops are within walking distance. The ‘English Butchers’ and the bakery/delicatessen next door are also worth special mention.
If you’re renting a car, Bruno’s car hire are local and fantastic. They will meet you outside either Malaga or Gibraltar airport with the car, no queues, no fuss and you drop it off where you want.
In summary, just book it!
ocean golf villa
had a lovely family holiday here 2 adults 2 children
villa is spacious , private and set in a peaceful location with a small urbanization and a gated entrance to access the villas .
pool was a good size and garden was lovely to .
there is a bbq for guests to use ( we didn't as we ate out every night ) 15 min walk into Puerto la duquessa marina and beaches
with lots of lovely restaurants and 2 large beaches either side of the marina and a few parks which my children enjoyed .
I would return to la duquessa and this villa again
Quiet , peaceful location
The property is all about the outside space and it was great. Good clean pool, nice garden and terrace. The floors on the inside made it uncomfortable for the children to walk on without shoes. Reasonably well equipped kitchen and lounge and good size bedrooms. I would say a car is essential here as everything is 15/20 mins walk for adults and uphill on the return. The drive up through the environs is disappointing as the road is not in good condition and with the hotel nearby derelict it gives a rundown impression to the area. We enjoyed our stay here none the less. We were 6 adults and 2 children.
The Villa was beautiful and the grounds and pool was great for the kids.
We enjoyed our stay although a shame we did not get to use the barbecue as it had not been cleaned for some time.
The beach was great but not a 10 min walk from the Villa and very dark to walk back in evening as no street lights.
we found the staff in Duquesa estate to be very helpful during our stay.
The Villa is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you Yvette for taking the time to post your review.
We are sorry that you found the barbecue was not as clean as you would have expected. Our cleaners only clean the inside of the property. If you would have read our information booklet in the villa then you would have realised that it is the responsibility of the guests to clean the barbeque at the end of their stay. In this case if it was not clean then you should have contacted us so that we could have arranged to get it cleaned. The barbecue will have a thorough clean when we visit this week.
Regarding the street lighting, on our privately gated estate there is ample lighting and in working order. The same goes for the approach road to our estate.
If you have only rated the property as 3 stars based on the barbeque and street lighting issues we feel this is rather harsh and unfair.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your vacation and hope that you visit again.

Great 60th birthday surprise
We stayed at the villa for a week in July and really enjoyed ourselves. The villa is soacious with great outside space and a lovely pool. It had everything we needed.
There are two supermarkets at the bottom of the hill by the main road that will sell everything you require for your stay.
It is more like a 15 minute walk to the coastline but all down hill so fine. Coming home it's best to get a cab for the marina which was about 7 Euro even at night.
At the bottom of the road by the walk over the main road you can catch a bus to la linea which was more like an air conditioned coach and took about 45 minutes and from there you can walk across the border to Gibraltar which is highly recommend as was a nice day out. On return you need to stop at bus stop el Castillo.
Lots of nice restaurants around the marina including parapiros on the third level. Mat need to book if you're in a large group as was very popular.
The beaches are more fine shingle than sand and we went to the beach the over side if the marina where the better sun beds come with the beach bar and you get waiter service all day. 8 Euro for your bed which includes a drink alcoholic/non alcoholic.
Transfers from Malaga were just over an hour and for a 7 seater mini bus was £278 Euro return. Villa does have secure parking if you hire a car.
The actual development itself is begins gates so all very secure.
Overall great stay
Glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future
It is a 15 minutes walk to the local beaches and marina or a 2 minutes drive. All the beaches are Blue Flag and a long promenade runs adjacent for several miles. The beaches are sandy and have a wide choice of beach bars (known as 'Chiringuitos') and restaurants, ideal for afternoon Tapas while sipping a Sangria or maybe a Mojito. There are several play areas for the kids with swings, slides and climbing frames along the beach. Sun loungers maybe hired for around 5 Euros each.
The nearest airport: Gibraltar 21miles, 35km. 30 minutes drive; Malaga 62 miles, 100km. 1 hour drive.

The nearest ferry port is at Algeciras 20 minutes drive away. There you can get a high speed ferry to exotic Morocco, North Africa in 35 minutes.
There is a Tourist Office in Duquesa providing information on public transport, local attractions and amenities.
