Spacious 3 Bedroom Apartment, A Few Minutes Walk From Inverness City Centre, The River Ness and Eden Court
Mrs Claire Venn-McNeil
About Mrs Claire Venn-McNeil
We were brought up in a small village in the Highlands of Scotland near Fort William, and have stayed to raise our children here too. We bought this house in Inverness as it is such a lovely city with so much to offer, and there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area.
Mrs Claire Venn-McNeil purchased this House in 2013
Why Mrs Claire Venn-McNeil chose Inverness City Centre
Fell in love with this 1890 Victorian Apartment on first viewing. So much character in a lovely peaceful Street, yet so close to the very heart of the city.
What makes this House unique
Central location. Car not necessary but with so much to see further afield using our house as a base, it is an added bonus.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great location and space
We liked the amount of space available at this property. Separate living and dining room, three bedrooms and use of the back yard for drying laundry. Well located with grocery store (Aldi) nearby. Loved taking walks along the Ness. City centre was also a short walk away.
Visit to Inverness
Pleased with property overall, well located property was clean and comfortable with plenty of kitchen equipment, shower room very nice. Will hopefully revisit and recommend.
Thank you for your review, we would be happy to welcome you back and appreciate the recommendation.
A proper home from home.
Locationwise, I can't imagine much better. It's only a few minutes walk into the City. A 10 minute drive gets you to Morrisons or back onto the A9. 15 minutes gets you Tesco or ASDA.
The children slept in the twin room, which has a view of the castle. They were fine on the stairs. I found it easiest to just come down backwards. Otherwise I'd bang my head on he ceiling.
The dining table was great for actually getting everyone sitting down and talking together. The living room was mostly used for playing cards. The glass table is perfect for games.
The apartment feels very homely. I generally found that if I needed something, it was in the place where I would put it if it was my house.
So far, this has been the kids' favourite place to stay. So much so that they have their own reviews:
Very comfy beds. It was amazing. There were very comfy chairs and the tables were great for playing cards at. (K, Aged 7)
So lovely didn't want to leave. Amazing big windowsill.:)

If we're ever back in Inverness, we'll definitely be checking availability here first.
clean house with all facilities. the shower was not suitable for larger pepoele
placed in a very good spot, near the center and supermarket
Thank you for your review. Im glad you found everything you needed in and around our Apartment. I'm sorry you found our shower small, it is one of many standard sizes available in the UK.
This was a great property. I shared the apartment with three other guests and we had more space than we knew what to do with. The listing mentions the stairs to the two upstairs bedrooms. They are EXTREMELY tricky. The location was great and the apartment was well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
Great location, clean townhouse, could be great, but...
Property is clean, tidy, and in a good location for walking into Inverness across any of several bridges. However, the details... first, we purposely rented a three bedroom house even though we are one couple, at greater expense than a one bedroom. We wanted the option of separate bedrooms (disability has left me with back problems and I often need to sleep separately so as not to disturb my husband). I do not want, nor feel compelled, to explain all of this to a property host; we simply rent a larger than necessary property. We were so disappointed to find that they had only provided linens for the main full sized bed, and none of the other beds. I had to use duvets (without covers) from the other beds and tried to sleep on each of the couches, both too short. So I did not get a night’s good sleep in the five nights we spent there. 🥺. Second, the TVs (all of them) went on the fritz the third night we were there. Bad satellite connection or something, unwatchable screen and sound distortion. We did not come to Scotland to watch TV, but we did like relaxing with it at the end of a long touring day. Third, while the property is advertised as having a clothes washer, which it does have, there is no clothes dryer. There are instructions about drying outside (not an option, as it rained almost constantly during our five days), and there is a drying rack behind the refrigerator, as well as racks on the heating units. As we were two weeks into a four week holiday, we desperately needed to do laundry. The entire time we were at the flat, we had laundry drying literally all over the house. Americans take note: be sure to confirm if a washing machine in the listing also includes a clothes dryer. This is the ONLY property we rented during our four weeks that had a clothes washer but no dryer. Be sure to check! Taking everything into consideration, we would rate this property at three stars (four stars for location) because the details just did not add up, as compared to the many other properties we have stayed in.
I'm sorry to hear that your stay in our Apartment wasn't perfect. I wish that you had mentioned that you would have liked two rooms made up, when you made the booking, or contacted me when you arrived and I would have come round immediately and made up the beds in one of the other rooms. We have always made up the number of beds as per the guests staying, and until now it has worked well.
I am a bit confused as to how using the bedding without covers and sleeping on a sofa when there are two other bedrooms even became a viable option, I would have happily fulfilled your request, easily and quickly, with no explanation necessary.
Its a shame that it rained during your stay and you were unable to use the garden to dry your clothes, it is handy to have a tumble drier in these circumstances however unfortunately we don't have room for one in the kitchen.
Regarding the TV's I'm sorry that you lost signal and for any inconvenience it caused, it is nice to have the option to sit and watch them after a busy day. I have no idea what happened to the signal, my cleaner found your note, checked them and found them to be working again.
I'm glad you found the location great and wish you a safe journey home.

From Inverness which is known as 'The Capital of the Highlands' you can visit many of the most remote parts of Scotland in a day. There is a wide selection of superb scenery to see, both coastal and mountainous, along with many Lochs and Castles.
The Black Isle, the Cairngorms, the coastline of the Moray Firth and the sandy beaches of Nairn and Findhorn to mention just a few.
Take a trip to the famous Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle which is only a short journey away. Maybe sail down the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness or take a boat trip on the Moray Firth to dolphin watch. The scenic fishing village of Ullapool is less than an hour's drive from Inverness and the west coast has a wealth of hill walking and mountain climbing.
And of course there is an abundance of golf courses nearby including the famous courses at Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch.
The Scottish Highland's history, culture, warmth of its people, scenery and landscape is world renowned and well worth a visit. From Culloden Battlefield to the myth of the Loch Ness Monster. from Loch Ness to Ben Nevis, the choices of things to see and do really are endless.
