We loved this little cottage
We stayed here for a few days in January, with our 1 year-old. It was freezing out but the house was fairly warm, the open fire really helped. There was plenty of fuel which we made use of and the bedrooms were very comfortable.
Our little boy loved going out to see the cows across the field and there are lots of activities within driving distance.
The location was good. A short drive to Buxton. A pub and a shop just a up the road although it’s not an easy walk with little ones.
I would recommend this as a good base for a break in the Peak District.
Thanks for your review Nathan, so pleased you enjoyed your wintery stay! You are welcome back anytime.
A gorgeous escape from the city
John's place is a cosy little farmhouse with beautiful views of rolling hills. We had a lovely stay here going for walks in the peak district, visiting Chatsworth house, and snuggling up by the fire in the evenings. It had everything we wanted except perhaps a few DVDs and a few useful cooking basics like olive oil and enough tea and coffee for all of us. But the kitchen was very well stocked in terms of cutlery, pans, plates etc. Our check in was really nice, friendly people showed us around the farm and meeting the local horses. A really relaxing weekend in an authentic, well kept farmhouse, thank you!
Fantastic weekend with friends
The little cottage was absolutely perfect for us. It had everything we needed and was just wonderful. Plenty of parking for 3 cars coming from all over the country. I can not stress enough how this place really is in the middle of nowhere, which is exactly what we wanted! So peaceful. Incredible views.
Tiffany was super helpful in showing us around, giving us lots of tips and advice, and we really want to thank her so much!
Amazing place surrounded by wonderful views
Perfect place for a base when visiting Alton Towers. Owners very welcoming even though we arrive very late on the Friday night they still were there to show us in and around the property. Shame we didn't spend more time at the actual house but we will definately be booking again if we are in the area, just a shame they do not allow well behaved dogs as it would be a great family holiday for us as well if we could bring the dogs as well as the children.
Away from it all
A lovely stone cottage set in stunning countryside with far reaching views. Well kept and clean with plenty of fuel provided for the open fire, all the utensils you will need in the kitchen. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the towels provided are pleasantly soft. The claw foot is just calling you to relax in the bubbles with a glass in hand ! Outside you will be greeted by Dolly the donkey, Zara and her daughter Flicka so remember to take plenty of carrots and apples with you as they are very demanding although very friendly too. All in all a really good rental house for getting away from it all with lots of walks nearby. The Knights Table pub (around a mile) serves good food too.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here and hope you visit again soon ( We're sure Flicka, Zara, and Dolly would be happy to see you too!!)

Lovely home away from home
Had a lovely couple of days break here, had a great stay, the house is really nice, clean and well looked after. We arrived in the dark and the fire had been lit and a bottle of mulled wine left for us. The kitchen had all the utensils, pots and pans you could need. We were left plenty fuel to keep the fire going to be extra cosy. The pub up the road was closed on the monday and tuesday so we went a bit further along the road for a lovely meal.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our farmhouse and hope to welcome you back to the lovely Peak District soon!
