Comfortable Treme Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable place to stay for our 4 day visit to New Orleans. Convenient location, just 3 blocks off I-10, from beginning of French Qtr and from the N. Rampart streetcar line. Easy walking distance to French Qtr, hop a streetcar to connect with Canal Street or St Charles (Garden District) lines to get to CBD/Warehouse, Garden districts, major attractions. We parked our car right in front of the gate to cottage and walked. Parking and one way streets make driving tough in most of the city.

Paul is a very thoughtful host, making sure all your needs are met. He communicated several times, checking in without being obtrusive. Comfortable bed, well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, many nice touches from an experienced host who takes good care of his guests.

For those concerned about the Treme, it is more residential and we did not see anything in our walks from the cottage that we didn’t see in other areas of the city. We did not feel any less safe walking here than we did elsewhere. New Orleans is an interesting city, very gritty and dirty, rundown in many areas but a lot of beauty in others, with lots of interesting characters. Just be aware of your surroundings. If you like to stay in a home-away-from-home atmosphere, we would recommend staying at this cottage.

Charming Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at this comfortable little cottage in the Treme neighborhood. The interior of the cottage is beautifully decorated and well-maintained. The owner, Paul, has anticipated a guest's every need by providing tourist info, comfy robes, coffee, and MUCH more -- a very generous and gracious host! We had plenty of space for the two of us and especially enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. The location is within a couple of blocks of the streetcar line and the French Quarter. We parked our car upon arrival and didn't move it until we had to leave to head home. (Free parking is a definite perk as many of the places we looked into were charging $30-40 a night just to park.) We would definitely stay here again!

A beautiful apartment and a great location

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful apartment: The pictures do not do justice to this apartment, tucked away in a small alley. The interior is spacious for two people and the owner has thought of everything in terms of comfort. The living area is comfortable; there is a cozy desk in one corner with ample room for a laptop and work materials; the bedroom can be closed off for quiet. The kitchen is small but well-stocked and easy to use.

The location: A 10-minute walk to the French Quarter and far enough away from mobs of tourists to get a sense of this historically and architecturally interesting and diverse neighborhood. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals in our travels, and this one is the new Number One on our list!

A slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Paul Greenberg is the consummate host and his cottage is the perfect place to stay in New Orleans. Everything one could possibly want was offered: toiletries for everything imaginable, way more towels than are provided in a hotel, orange juice, bottled tea, bottled water, coffee, tea, wine, chocolates and muffins that oozed calories just by breathing them! He also provided a variety of gluten-free items at my request. He offered valuable information as to where to have lunch (Mr. B's is the best - old world charm!), where to buy groceries (Matassa's grocery, a short walk from the cottage), how best to get from the airport to the cottage, and went out of his way to accommodate our request for early check-in. The cottage is immaculately maintained, with an outdoor garden/sitting area just perfect for our morning cup of coffee. The cottage is just far enough away from the French Quarter to be away from the noise, yet close enough to walk there in less than 15 minutes. Paul is extremely responsive, replying within a short period of time to all of my emails, and he left us with a wonderful feeling - as well as a "thank you" bag of New Orleans specialities - for the city. We are very fortunate to have been a guest in his cottage and will definitely return there if we are in New Orleans again.
