Lovely, quiet and immaculate, and in a great location!
We spent Xmas week here and it was - truly - ideal. The neighborhood is leafy and quiet, but it's only a block west of 41 and just a bit south of downtown Sarasota, so it's convenient to everything. The house is spotlessly clean and quite comfortable, and the owner was easy to reach by text and helpful with any small inquiries we had. If the need arises, I'd very much hope this place is available again!
Fit the bill.... for the most part.
It was my fault that i didn't read the fine print.... but when we arrived, I couldn't find the third bedroom.... until we looked outside and found the small building outside the carport. Luckily my 19 year old son took the space... as my two high school age daughters would have been too scared to sleep out there alone. Beds are not very comfortable and I had a hard time sleeping. Master bath was nice, but very small. Other bathroom was much larger. Supplying bath soap would have been a nice touch as well, as we had to run out to purchase some first thing in the morning. There was only one comfortable seat in the family area - a 3 seater sofa... otherwise, hard back chairs were the other option. Other than this, the home was well appointed and suited our needs just fine.
Stay with another couple. Recommendations would be:
TV in bedrooms (only one in the living room with a couch and 2 straight back chairs)
From the pages of Coastal Living.
We loved the house the bonus room was very convenient. We felt like we were in a pattery barn add. The kitchen was fully equipped with every thing that we need it. The garden was a great place to babeque. The neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located. We were able to walk to Starbucks, and the drive to the beach was easy.
The owners were a pleasure to deal with.
We highly recommend this house.
Great 2 bdrm house, w/ high end finishes - but the bunkhouse is not fit for habitation. Overpriced!
Stayed in June '16 w/ 2 friends for attendance at a funeral. This was advertised with a private bunkhouse suite + 2brms. Humm...since bunkhouse isn't standard language I wasn't sure what to expect but with the word "suite" I expected a room with at least a 1/2 bath in it. What we got was something pretty unacceptable - the bunkhouse is off the carport in what I believe is a converted storage shed. In states with strict building codes it would not be classified as inhabitable, not sure of requirements in Florida.
This bunkhouse had just enough room for the double bed and two small nightstands. It thankfully included a window airconditioner but with the lack of insulation in the room and the lack of a seal for the airconditioner it took a long time to cool the room down. It was easy to see daylight around the air conditioner, so the mosquitos easily came in the bunkhouse. The entry door to the bunkhouse had windows on the top half of the door but lacked window coverings. Thankfully with ingenuity & an Ace Hardware across the street I was able to come up quickly with a temporary solution so that I wasn't flashing the neighbors when I changed. However, I probably did flash them when I got up in the middle of the night to use the facilities INSIDE the house. This home had no backyard fence, so in this bunkhouse I felt very vulnerable. (yes, really, at 2 am I had to go outside the bunkhouse, in my pj's because I don't normally travel with a bathrobe, unlock the front door and inside to go to the bathroom). After 5 nights in this bunkhouse, er.. converted storage shed, I found myself with a cold - though the strangest one ever as it went away promptly after I got a few nights in a regular hotel. I would hate to see a family rent this property expecting to put either kids or grandparents in the bunkhouse as I don't think I would want my family members in this kind of situation.
Aside from the false advertising giving folks the impression this has three bedrooms, the property is beautiful - clearly these owners gutted the entire house & have installed high end finishes. The owner did return our calls promptly but what could they do? They refused to solve the window issue. This is a nice neighborhood with easy walking access to stores & restaurants; I think it is overpriced given the distance from the beach. Several weeks after this trip I spent a week in another VBRO property on a wooded acre in Montecito, CA (in Oprah’s neighborhood) for less money
We did all the adjustments without satisfaction, I think this guests is more suited for Hotels then vrbo rentals.
