Great little find!
My husband and I planned to spend 2 nights on the island and wanted to find a clean, reasonably affordable place to stay. The Aft Cabin was perfect! It's clean, the kitchen is well stocked with essential dishes and serving ware, including a blender, and there was plenty of room for the two of us. It's clear the apartment has been well taken care of. The apartment is located on the second level of the building with a nice porch overlooking the hillside and we loved the patio and garden on the ground level. The location is quiet and private. Skinny Legs is a nice casual restaurant across the street, and we had no problems with noise. Karen, Kay and the team are great to work with and very accommodating. It was easy to get a hold of them by email, phone, or text. We unexpectedly had 2 extra guests with us and they were able to rent the apartment next to ours at the last minute just by calling. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit the island and would highly recommend it to anyone else!
Thanks Laurie - we' look forward to your return!
Couple-sized, clean, comfortable and economical
We spent a week in the Aft Cabin and were very happy with our accommodations. Clean and bright, the furnishings are comfortable and the location - just across the road from Skinny Legs - is well suited for accessing both the north and south shore beaches. The kitchen is modest, with a full size fridge and glass-top stove and most dishes and cutlery you'd need for a few days as well as a few spices. There is a kettle for the stove, a coffee maker and a blender - but no toaster (not that we needed one). The bed is located in the loft, up a ladder - this may be a concern for anyone with accessibility issues or bad knees (watch your head at the top!), and don't expect to get your luggage up there very easily. There isn't a water view from this location, but there is a nice garden off the back terrace and a couple of iguanas that like to hang out in the bushes in front of the kitchen window. For a nice cross breeze, you'll need to open the door and the kitchen window - we never needed to use the AC, as the fans were sufficient (in March). We enjoyed the large screen tv and the DISH service during the rain and in the evenings and never had a problem with the wifi. Beach chairs and coolers are provided, as are ample beach towels and a drying rack on the veranda. It was quiet at night and in the morning (except for Saturday night, which was a little rowdy across the road), but if you are a late riser, be prepared to be awakened by the fire department across the street as they go through their shift change & safety check around 8-8:30am. We were happy with our stay - it met all of our needs and exceeded some of them - and we would stay here again.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and reviewing the Aft Cabin Rhonda! Fortunately Skinny Legs music ends at 9 pm
