About Jeremy Thompson
We have lived in Tennessee our whole lives. My husband and I both grew up in Nashville. We met in high school and have been married for over 20 years. We also have three kids that keep us on our toes so any chance we get we try to take a vacation!!!!
Jeremy Thompson purchased this Chalet in 2015
Why Jeremy Thompson chose Smithville
This house caught our attention right away because of how at home we felt as soon as we saw it. Once all the renovations were complete it felt more like home than ever. With the amazing views this house offers, it makes it even harder to leave!! It is truly our Home Away From Home!
What makes this Chalet unique
This house has everything you could want and more in a vacation spot.

Overall comfortable property but would recommend a few upgrades
Beautiful location with lots to do in the area- great hikes, beautiful waterfalls, visit to grass-fed farm, and local breweries and distilleries. If traveling with kids the Nashville zoo is a must- one of the most beautiful zoos I’ve been to. The house was comfortable and accommodated 3 small families easily. I would suggest a couple small upgrades that would make for an even more comfortable stay- specifically, add a large picnic or dining table outside, with lots more chairs. We also think you could add a small table inside...perhaps move the sectional downstairs, bring the sofa upstairs and put a kitchen table on the second floor. We made do, but The lack of a dining table was a bit of a bummer. We ended up buying a handful of camp chairs and left a couple there. Would also recommend sheets for the trundles-we ended up having to buy a couple sets (would have been good to know ahead of time, as we could’ve just brought these with us). Overall, though, the property was clean and comfortable and we had a great vacation.
Absolutely perfect for our needs
House was awesome for a quick weekend trip. Everything we needed was there and there were plenty of beds for everyone. Will likely book again.
Nice cabin in the woods
We were evacuated from SW Florida for Hurricane Irma, we had quite the group with us... But the 'cabin in the woods' feel made us relax as we watched what was happening to our home towns... luckily we fared quite well and were able to return. The host was great, and responsive when we had issues or questions!
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to return safe. If you come back this way please stay again. The Thompson Family
We really enjoyed our stay here! The place was honestly even nicer in person than in the photos and my first overall impression was that it was really clean! Huge plus. We had several people staying and I didn't feel overcrowded at all. The hot tub seemed new which was nice. We really enjoyed ourselves a lot. I would say however, whoever drives, use the vehicle you have that can handle a steep driveway as it sits on a tall hill.
My only constructive criticisms are that they provide more coffee mugs and chairs. We had 13 sleeping there and only 4 coffee mugs to share and re-wash. We really enjoyed the balcony and having breakfast outside but would need more than 4 chairs on each level so that everyone could enjoy eating together since this was the only real eating space other than using the coffee table inside. I think it would benefit from more seating.
Other than that, I am still waiting on my refund for my damage deposit. I was told it takes 5-7 business days for it to auto-refund. Today is the 7th day so we will see. This is my first time using Home Away, so if it is yours, too, be aware of that maybe taking some time.
"Lock box" isn't where you would find a key. You put the key code in the door to get in(would've been nice to know that in advance.) also, if you're traveling with a boat, it's rough, and somewhat scary if trying to get in and out on the winding road. Place was fun, needed to be cleaned more. There were dead grasshoppers around windows and pool table had hair and crumbs on it(no rack available.) owner is very responsive before you check in, but after that they go blank. Other than that, we had fun and enjoyed staying there.
Great house for large groups
Ten of us stayed at this house and everybody had a great and very comfortable stay. Easy 15-20 minute drive to the marina, beds for everybody, great views on the patios, clean house, good kitchen. Could t have asked for better!
There are a couple of recreation areas near the lake house. Hurricane Bridge Recreation Area and Floating Mill Recreation Area. Edgar Evins State Park is also in the area.
