The best combination of Alpine and Nordic terrain in Minnesota. Giants Ridge features 35 runs, 202 skiable acres, 500 ft. of vertical and terrain parks. Cross country skiers will enjoy over 60 kilometers of the state’s best Nordic trails.
Snow Tubing. Giants Ridge has an onsite Snow Tubing hill.
Family friendly. A single chalet and main base area lets you give your kids the freedom to explore, while still being easy to meet up after a few runs. Plus, the bunny hill, with both magic carpet and poma options, is clearly visible from the warmth of the chalet.
Welcome fat bikers! Giants Ridge is one of the only areas in Minnesota to allow fat biking on it’s groomed cross country trails. Fat bikes rentals are available from the Rental Shop at 218-865-8024.
Snowshoeing. There are five snowshoe trails at Giants Ridge. Trails may be accessed from the mountain base. Snowshoes are available for rent and trail passes are required.
Snowmobiling. Hundreds of miles of snowmobiling trails are available right you’re your door at the Villas. Sleds are available for rent at the nearby Lodge at Giants Ridge and through Central Reservations at 866-409-6650.
SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL ACTIVITIES
Nationally renowned golf. Giants Ridge is home to The Quarry, the highest-rated public golf course in Minnesota (# 25 in GolfDigest’s 2015-2016 Top 100 Public U.S. Golf Course rankings.) The Legend at Giants Ridge also has been lauded as one of the top 100 public golf courses in the country. From your home base at Giants Ridge take a quick, ½ hour drive to play a round at The Wilderness at Fortune Bay (#57 in GolfDigest’s 2015-2016 rankings) you’ll not only play a trifecta of the very best public golf courses in Minnesota, but also the nation.
Mountain Biking. Giants Ridge has 40 km of maintained trails. Fat bikes rentals are available from the Rental Shop at 218-865-8024.
Trail Biking. The Mesabi Trail, features 115 miles of paved trail with stunning scenery and overlooks. Bike rentals available from the Rental Shop at 218-865-8024.
ATVing and off-roading. The Iron Range OHV Park offers 36 miles of dedicated, diverse (hills, rocks, mud holes and more) trails for 4×4 vehicles, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Numerous trails are nearby, including The Ranger ATV trail, which covers 25 miles between Biwabik and Hoyt Lakes and is directly accessible from the Villas.
Disc Golf. Giants Ridge offers an 18-hole mountain Frisbee golf course.
Hiking. Giants Ridge offers four hiking trails that traverse through the alpine mountain, nordic trails and surrounding forests.
Swimming. The Villas offers an outdoor pool and hot tub and a large swimming beach on Wynne Lake. Villas guests also have access to the indoor pool and hot tub at the Lodge of Giants Ridge year-round.
Tennis. An outdoor tennis court is onsite. Free racquet and ball rentals are available from the Villas office.
Paddling. Villas guests enjoy free rentals of kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and paddle boats, all accessible right from the Villas beach.
Boating. The Wynne Lake launch is located right next to the Villas. Docks on the Villas shoreline are available free of charge.
Fishing. Giants Ridge is home to four pristine lakes: Wynne, Sabin, Mine and Embarrass. The lakes are plentiful with walleye, crappie, bluegills, and northern pike. Free canoe rentals for Villas guests are available from the Villas office. Guests may also rent a 14-foot fishing boat with motor and trailer it with their own vehicle rental shop staff will trailer the boat. Rental fees are $55 (half day) and $75 (full day).
