He will also let you in on very cool LOCAL places to eat, drink and shop. Not only will you love the house, you will enjoy the owner!
David Lewis purchased this House in 2014
Why David Lewis chose Uptown and Carrolton District
Best area in town to not only GET TO everything (on streetcar line), but to GET away as well. So nice after a day of shopping on Magazine, Oak and Maple street or a day out in the french quarter to come home to such a lovely park like setting. This house has PLENTY of history and fantastic treetop views.
What makes this House unique
The oak tree in the front yard is majestic. The history of the house is amazing! We have had film industry professionals, families, film crews and movie shoots in this lovely home. The house is truly a wonderful happy place. The kitchen is FABULOUS, so if you enjoy cooking, the chef's kitchen will make you smile!

Great location, quiet neighborhood & spacious
David Lewis, Thank you. We enjoyed the house. I would advertise it for those visitors to New Orleans who are looking for great local dining, historical houses, the trolley and space to cook and dine in.
Family Weekend Getaway
We spent a great three nights here during Jazz Fest to celebrate my mom’s birthday. There were ten of us and we had plenty of room. Lots of things to do, and the kids loved riding the streetcar which was just two blocks away. The owner was so accommodating! Would highly recommend.
Great Garden District Weekend
The house was in a great neighborhood and each bedroom was comfortable and expansive. There was plenty of space for 6 and we all enjoyed our stay.
New Orleans charm
We spent 4 nights here in Carollton. David was easy to reach and very accommodating. The house was clean and ready for our arrival. The house is quite large, and also offers a private backyard space which was great for our kids and dog to burn off some energy. Overall we most enjoyed the house's location in an authentic N.O. safe residential area. Being so close to the streetcar line and locals eateries was an added bonus.
This older home does show its age a bit. The kitchen had the essentials, but we did feel like it was a bit worn out and needed some updating. The same could be said for the living room furniture. None of this detracted from our stay in a material way, but its worth mentioning if these things are important to you.
We enjoyed our stay very much and Carrollton provided a great base for us to explore as much of New Orleans as we could during our visit.
Wonderfully accommodating host! Perfect New Orleans experience!
Five stars for sure!!
The host worked well with us, assuring that we had all that we needed to make our wedding weekend perfect! We were all traveling from different places to see a family member get married. In addition to the accommodations for sleeping, this house allowed for all of us to have a place to gather that was private, and truly a "home away from home"! The back yard was large enough for us to all hang out and play some games in the daytime, and the inside was large enough for all of us to gather for meals and visiting.
Speaking of meals and visiting, the kitchen is laid out so that movement in and around the stove is easy, with many kitchen grade pots and pans as well, and the dining room table easily seated 12.
All sleeping spaces were on second and third floors which made it accommodating for the varied bedtimes of the guests because the downstairs was all about community.
Because we were there for a wedding, I must add that there is a separate dressing room upstairs with a full length mirror which made it easy for the groom to be there with all his family prior to the ceremony. This was an unexpected bonus for his mom and the rest of us.
The charm of the house is truly full of New Orleans flavor! There was never a doubt about where we were! With restaurants in walking distance, it allowed for us to get away when desired, and then to meet back up. We took the trolley when we wanted to go farther away, and Uber was a hit for our large, multi-family's travel needs. The neighborhood was quiet; just far enough from the bars to feel like we were truly living in New Orleans, instead of just visiting.
David was easy to reach, easy to communicate with, and helpful in many ways. I would certainly go back for another family gathering, or even just a getaway for some girlfriends.
Truly five stars!!
Amazing home, Great host, Highly Recommend!!
I've traveled to New Orleans many times and this by far the most beautiful home I've stayed in. David was a wonderful host and was available on his cell to help us whenever we needed anything.
I had a large group and we had more than enough space. The beds were very soft too. The house itself has great architecture and a large front lawn. We really enjoyed the front porch and balcony to hang out and enjoy the warm weather.
The location is great, calm, and everyone around is pleasant. The house is also walking distance to some surprisingly good restaurants, music bars, and the street car line.
I will definitely try to stay here again and would highly recommend this home to anyone thinking about staying in New Orleans.
HIGHLY walkable area in a very safe neighborhood. Two blocks off the streetcar line, so anywhere in the city is accessible. 4 to 5 blocks to either Maple Street or Oak Street corridor which contains shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, etc. Walk to AUDUBON park, Tulane, and Audubon Place. Take the streetcar to the historic french quarter, convention center, superdome or to Jazzfest.
