Love Hawk's Cay!
The Condo was in excellent condition! The bed's were very comfortable. The only thing I was upset with was that we were asked to strip the beds and start laundry and were charged the $250 cleaning fee.
Very private, clean property but no access to resort amenities
The unit itself is very nice and well maintained!
The private pool is a nice bonus, it was clean and warm.
The resort almost completely recovered from the hurricane damage.
We used to rent at this resort a few times before and it was always a blast because you had access to all the restaurants, bicycle and jet ski rentals. Unfortunately now there are no bicycle or jet ski rentals on premises, very sad! If you don't rent directly from the resort and don't have the resort wrist bands, which you can't even purchase separately, you wouldn't be able to use any resort amenities (restaurants, pools, basketball courts, playground, lagoon). There is no decent access to the ocean either, so we had to drive to a public beach, which is about 15 mins drive. I wish I could grade the unit itself separately because it is NICE, but the reason you rent at a resort is to use its amenities. I think for our next FL getaway we will be looking somewhere else.
Thank you so much for your review. I understand the disappointment of not using the Resort facilities, but it does state very plainly in the ad that the resort amenities are not included. The docks at Hawks Cay are not complete yet, so that is why the jet ski rentals are not up and running yet. You can get bicycle's delivered to the townhouse from Marathon.
I am very happy you loved the townhouse, and give me a call for other options.
A very tired home
Sadly this house did not rate the nightly charge. Although it was relatively clean it has so many underlying issues it marred our impression. Chipped and cracked china. Grimy feeling comforters, outdoor furniture coming apart, both the rattan falling off and the lounge chairs shedding. The pool was cute but no light and although some literature stated it would be cleaned daily it was not. Several light bulbs out and one of the master bed sockets not working, so you can have light or alarm clock but not both. Only hairdryer is in master and is the kind that should be attached to wall but is not, so is awkward to use. Ironing board is lethal it does catch anymore, so it comes crashing down if you stand it up, watch your toes; iron is missing the cap over water dispenser. The disposal system is faulty. Stains on carpet, dirty closet walls, kitchen cabinets & baseboards; front door bells do not work.
Sadly probably due to all the work still being completed at Hawks Cay there were workers in adjoining unit/s, they were very loud in the evenings so not great when trying to sit outside and take in view.
To the owner I would recommend staying in your home for a few nights and just take overnight bags to get a feel for it and see if you think it warrants your charge. To manager I would say if you leave a welcome basket which is thoughtful, do not ask your guest to replenish it for next guest............
The home itself is comfy and is in a good location but for the money there are too many better choices. As a VRBO owners ourselves and frequent visitor to Keys we will not stay here again nor recommend to others.
I am disappointed to read this review. We have had many guests over the summer, and no one has mentioned any of these things. A phone call to me would have been appreciated so that some of these items could have been addressed immediately. I never heard anything from you except to read this review.
Your stay was during the height of the Lobster season where we have a high demand during that time, and lots of Florida residents diving and fishing, not workers as you put it. This is not a private home, so others having a good time next door is a result of the townhouse atmosphere. Maybe you should have considered that before booking. This type of accommodation is not really the kind of property you should be renting if you wanted a private backyard. This townhome is in a cluster of villas two to each cluster each with its own pool in the rear yard. I have not had complaints in the past for loud neighbors, but again, during this time of year, there are a lot of people around.
I find it highly unlikely that we would ask any guest to replenish the gift basket that we provide. The pool is cleaned once a week, not daily. (maybe you confused us with another property) The master bedroom electrical outlet, is tied to the wall switch. If you would have called me, I could have explained that to you. Usually, the light is plugged into that socket so you can turn on the light when entering the room. We have the carpets and furniture cleaned twice a year, Sept and May. We really pride ourselves on making everyone's stay a nice one, and attention to detail and cleanliness is our highest priority.
Keys Vacation August 2018
Had a WONDERFUL stay... Unit is just as shown in the pictures... Comfortable and centrally located... 55 miles down the Overseas Hwy and 61 miles to Key west... Fished from Islamorada, sunset sail from Key West... Can't beat this location...
Richard & Shannon McKinley with Bailey...
We will stay again
Such a nice place to stay. It’s clean , up to date and very comfortable!
We all loved it💞..
Nice place to stay just need some things fixed inside and a can opener in the kitchen, the beds where great. It is right in the middle of the keys for going any place you might want to go to Key West or right back to the exit of the keys it is so beautiful ever where you go, we enjoined ower stay and would do it again in the future.
