Welcome To The Eagle's Watch Of Melrose Villa!
Boy, is this a "WOW" property!!
The Eagle's Watch of Melrose is located in one of the prestigious Easter Beach Villa buildings. This villa is especially wonderful, with a major renovation now completed by its new owners. They have done a fantastic job, and have turned this already-nice villa into one of the loveliest properties on Melrose.
Regarding the villa itself, where to start?? Well, let's talk about the villa's private and peaceful setting. Although only a 2-minute walk to the beach, this top-floor villa's expansive screened-in porch overlooks a breath-taking expanse of a wildlife-rich marsh, and Live Oaks draped with Spanish Moss. No golf cart traffic, vehicles, and general resort hustle-and-bustle from the street are problems at the Eagle's Watch of Melrose Villa! Instead, all you hear is...quiet! You'll especially appreciate this "Sound of Silence" as you relax on your huge screened-in back porch, enjoying the lush view and a variety of sea birds and other wildlife, including (of course!) the occasional American Bald Eagle.
The main living area of the Eagle's Watch of Melrose is a pleasant open floor plan with LOTS of light from the connecting screened in porch. A comfortable seating area is perfect for reading, socializing with your family, watching TV, or taking a nap. Tastefully decorated with bright splashes of Low Country and island art, you won't find a more pleasant room.
The fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing family meals to enjoy either inside or at a table on the screened-in porch (not shown in the photos). You'll find a full-size washer and dryer discretely tucked away next to the kitchen, and of course all other kitchen appliances to allow easy preparations of family meals and snacks.
The Eagle's Watch of Melrose includes two very large bedrooms, both beautifully decorated. The master has a King-size bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom had two queen-size beds and also has its own private bathroom. Both bedrooms have their own TVs. Here's how nice these bedrooms are: They even include their own small fridge and microwaves for those late night snacks when you don't want to disturb the rest of the villa guests!
Even better, the front side of each of the bedrooms are comprised of windows and glassed doors that open directly onto the villa's fabulous porch.
And the porch, the porch, the porch!! Most likely you'll be spending an inordinate amount of time on this lovely and huge porch enjoying a view that many never see while on Daufuskie. There are comfy chairs, a table for a close-to-outside dining experience (not pictured), and even his-and-hers hammock chairs! Is this heaven? No, it's the Eagle's Nest Villa!
The owners have tried to think of everything that will make the villa a perfect experience for their guests. There are so many other nice touches! You'll find beach chairs, beach toys, and games.
Concerned about the logistics of coming to our bridge-less island, getting groceries, etc etc? No need to worry! You will receiving lots of good information and assistance from your Daufuskie Rental Group representatives who live on the island and will be available 24/7 for any questions or problems. We strive to make the Daufuskie experience a stress-free and enjoyable adventure for all of DRG's rental guests. Once you're here, we will meet you and introduce you to your villa and our unique and beautiful island.
So why delay? The Eagle's Watch of Melrose is waiting!!

Why Deborah Smith chose Melrose on the Beach
The Eagle's Watch Villa is a true gem, and offers privacy, quiet, and seclusion while providing us with a breathtaking view of woods, marsh, and a golf course. Best of all, we can sit on our HUGE screen porch and watch Daufuskie's incomparable wildlife. And yes, we often see eagles while sitting on our porch! All this, and just a 2 minute walk to the beach. What more could anyone want??
What makes this Villa unique
The lovely Eagle's Watch of Melrose Villa is located on one of the best-kept secrets on the eastern coast: Daufuskie Island. Your vacation home is steps away from miles of pristine, quiet beaches where all you can hear is the sound of gentle waves and beautiful shore birds. Watch the shrimp boats, bike or ride horses along the beach, take a Historic tour and discover the Gullah History of Daufuskie or take in a round of golf. Don't forget to try our island delicacy, deviled crabs! Daufuskie has several unique and colorful restaurants (Marshside Mama's, the Daufuskie Crab Company, and Lucy Bell's) where you'll swear you're in the middle of the Caribbean and the Eagle's Nest Restaurant at Bloody Point. History buffs will enjoy exploring the island and visiting various sites providing a glimpse into the past, including the recently-restored Oyster House used as a 19th century Gullah meeting place, the Billie Burns Museum, ancient cemeteries, and the two-room school house where renowned author Pat Conroy taught and which was the subject of his first book, The Water is Wide. Those interested in unique shopping opportunities will want to visit the Iron Fish Art Gallery, the Glass House, Wine and Woodworks, and the Daufuskie Rum Company. And you certainly don't want to miss the Daufuskie Island Community Farm, where old and young visitors alike are encouraged to help feed the chickens and even to try milking a goat! There are many other fun and unique places to visit...and you will be very glad you are one of the relatively small number of people who have discovered this unique gem of an island.

Great Relaxing Time At The Beach
Our family had a wonderful stay over our Spring Break. Deb and Karen were wonderful to work with and they were both super helpful! The condo is very well decorated and thoughtfully appointed. The listing showed that they had beach chairs at the condo but they actually had sports type chairs. It sounded like they were potentially purchasing true beach chairs but I would definitely check on that if you would like to have beach chairs during your stay. That was the only thing that I regretted not packing for our family.
The screened porch is great and we really enjoyed the new table & chairs set. We ate all our meals out on the porch and enjoyed the peaceful setting.
This was our first time to Daufuskie. It is definitely a quiet place to visit. We especially loved exploring all over the island on bikes and in a golf cart. The beach was quiet and our kids had lots of space to run and play. This was a great place to go for a quiet relaxing few days.
We rented our golf cart through Island Cart Rentals and she was wonderful to work with! We booked our ferry through May River Excursion and had a great experience with them as well.
This condo has all the perfect amenities for a nice, relaxing stay! Once you get to the island, it's easy just to let the mainland troubles go with this well equipped apartment. The main bathroom has been recently upfitted with a Jacuzzi tub and double sink vanity along with a large shower. The kitchen is well maintained and perfect for meals in - if you want to take an easy evening. Brandee and Island Cart Rentals along with May River Excursions make the trip over and back from the island very easy. I would easily recommend this as a wonderful place to vacation!
Fabulous! Everything we needed plus some unexpected amenities!
We loved our stay at Eagle's Watch! The accommodations are beautiful and very comfortable! Walking distance to the beach and miles and miles of roads to discover on golf cart. This was exactly what we needed to escape the rush of the daily grind. This is a hidden gem!
The condo is beautiful and well taken care of. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort was put in to thinking of everything a guest would need. It was the perfect place to unwind from our hectic everyday schedules back home.
It's just a short walk to the beach, that we practically had to ourselves most mornings and evenings. I would definitely suggest this unit to anyone thinking about going to the island. We hope to be back soon!
The house was decorated down to every detail. The owners supplied everything one could need for a stay at their home. Quick walk to the beach. Karen, Deb, Brandie, and Brian made the trip so easy and enjoyable. It was the perfect place for us to stay for a getaway for the weekend!
I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Eagles Watch Villa! We enjoyed having you folks here, and hope to see you again on our special island!

Perfectly appointed accommodations, everything is as shown in the photos. Villa was immaculate. My only recommendation would be to update all literature to accurately reflect what the current situation is on Melrose as a whole property. We were taken aback by the conditions of the former Melrose Resort. It is a wonderful location and I hope we'll return some day to see it restored and thriving.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the beautiful Eagles Watch Villa!
You mentioned the need to educate guests about the closure of the Melrose Resort. In fact, nowhere on our VRBO/HomeAway postings do we advertise any Melrose Resort amenities. In my initial communication to you and all other guests in the Melrose area, I am very clear that the Melrose Resort is currently closed and that resort facilities will not be available to our guests. I am sorry you missed that information.
**** I also mention that all Daufuskie Rental Guests have access to the private and exclusive Haig Point's golf course and equestrian center, and also access to the Bloody Point Resort's pool and golf course. Many of our guests have appreciated and enjoyed those amenities. ***
At any rate, it's good you enjoyed Daufuskie and the Eagles Watch Villa!

Additional information about rental rates
Please note that the service fee listed in your rental quote is charged by VRBO, and does not go to either your property owner nor to Daufuskie Rental Group. This villa is owed by a family whose members have worked hard to ensure a premium experience for their guests. It is not intended for use for a "party place" for special events such as weddings and Spring breaks. We trust and expect that our guests will take care of this property as if it were their own. This lovely property will NOT require a one-week minimum for the 2016 summer as most properties do, but rather we will accept rental requests for a minimum of 3 days.
