Beautiful views and extremely peaceful

  • 4 of 5

The views that this cabin has are absolutely breath taking! The hot tub was in good working condition and the overall cleanliness of the house was a plus. We were more than satisfied with our weekend getaway however, I would recommend fixing a couple of minor things. I noticed that there was something that appeared to be bodily fluids on the comforter... I assume the sheets are being washed after every stay but I would highly recommend washing the comforter as well. I’m weird about using bedding from rentals so luckily I had my own. The other thing I would recommend is getting the doors fixed as they do not latch properly unless they are locked. The one that leads outdoors is a little scary if you have children or fur babies as it will just pop right open if you push on it. There was a wind storm and we were woken up in the middle of the night to the upstairs door flying open. But again as long as they are locked they are fine. If it wasn’t for those two issues I would have given this cabin 5 stars. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Thanks again!

Beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Cherokee Lodge Feb 8-11. We had a fantastic time. Everyone loved the cabin. The kids were thrilled with the loft area and loved learning how to play pool and shuffleboard. The weather wasn’t that cold but it was very rainy. We had a really nice time enjoying the hot tub and cooking in one night. I don’t have anything negative to say. Everything was very clean and we had all we needed to prepare a meal. I had a few questions when we got there and Ed, the owner, and housekeeping were very easy to get ahold of and very responsive. We would definitely stay at this cabin again.

Not the best

  • 2 of 5

Where to begin. This place leaves a lot to be desired. First thing that should be mentioned, this place is pretty high up in hills. Be prepared to navigate some windy steep slopes on narrow roads. It’s very scary at times. If the weather is below freezing you will not make it to the top without snow chains or a 4x4. This was mentioned nowhere so we could prepare! Many cars and people were stranded and walked the 1.5 miles to the top. Parking is tricky. You must be proactive and willing to be prepared to be snowed in. The heater inside barely keeps you above 58 degrees. Bring plenty of blankets, an electric heater and lots of food Incase you get stuck. We had to hang out over the open stove to keep from freezing. Add insult to injury the fireplace is not allowed to be used. The place is pretty filthy. Cat hair or something was everywhere! On every piece of furniture and all the bed linens. It was fallin from the sky and landing in our food, disgusting! Place said no pets, but this obviously is not enforced. The little handwritten notes everywhere telling you what to do or not do like the place is the Taj Mahal become pretty annoying. The beds are not only old and wore out but the red infested linens felt like we were at a hunting lodge or a cheap motel. Furniture is all old and second hand. Drawers just fell out of the dresser and there are no closets. Laughable. If your expecting a vacation place look elsewhere. Don’t go there looking to watch tv. You get the basics and that’s it. I personally had to fix the tv to receive over the air signals and clear out the “smart tv” ads. I was pretty upset I could not watch the bowl games while snowed in. If you are looking for a roughing it camping style place to test your survival skills give this place a go. Tried calling and texting the owner and everyone on the list and got zero response. Terrible communication to top it off!! Good news is we survived, there is WiFi, and the view is nice. Therefore all this leads to 2 star.

View is amazing - not crazy about the state of the cabin

  • 2 of 5

We stayed there over Christmas and the views were absolutely amazing, and then the toilet had a cracked pipe on Christmas day, but I have to say the Management team was AMAZING. We felt horrible to bother them on 12/25, but they responded immediately and fixed it. They even cleaned and sanitized the bathtub - the backup went in there!

I guess it stops there.Nobody told us that the fireplace was not working (and the owner must have known that!) the hottub was not usable since it never went over 72 degrees.I know the weather got cold, but the cabin didn't go over 62 degrees, we were freezing!!!! the Pullout couch upstairs is broken and not usable. in short: We left early. There are quite some things to fix inside this cabin. I guess I assumed when it says : sleeps 7 it would - but not a chance with broken pullouts. I have to say the view was amazing, but after that : We bought our own coffee machine, it wasn't working. The pans are not usable so I bought my own. This cabin is not well taken care off. This is the first time I went through home again and probably the last time.

Would not stay again, fireplace does not work. No working fire alarm in cabin.

  • 2 of 5

Overall cabin is very pretty but neglected in my opinion! Very disappointed that gas fireplace does not work, no gas tank outside. Very limited TV channels in living room but we made do. No TV in master bedroom, old TV upstairs did not work when we arrived, xfinity box missing. Owner did order another but came too late for our use. Mattresses both need replacing but did sleep OK. I think coffee pot needs replacing since coffee was lukewarm immediately after pot had finished percolating. Very curvy roads up to cabin, quite a few cabins near by burned down from fire. Driveway needs some work, not level. Only found one fire alarm in two level cabin and it did not have batteries, should have got some batteries from Walmart and fixed that but we forgot. We did buy and replace filters since they were very dirty. Hot tub was in good working condition.

Beautiful view, responsive owner, upkeep issues

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was very nice, had beautiful views and was roomy, well laid out for the size. It was clean throughout the normal use areas, but needed a thorough dusting, the fireplace did not work, the upstairs tv was not working (an old tube model). The furniture was of quality. The upstairs porch was magnificent, but there were no cushions on the rough wood patio furniture. The kitchen was well stocked and the spa was operating, but we did not use it. This area was impacted by the fires and this cabin has not been stained to reflect the work done on the adjacent properties. Stay on cleaning service to ensure proper attention to minor details that make an impression on guests.

Overall we liked the cabin, but the needed attention did impact our overall enjoyment. These are all items that can be addressed and if fixed we would return and would result in a 5 star rating.
