We were celebrating our 15th anniversary and chose this cabin based on the description and photos...we did not pay much attention to the reviews because we have found that sometimes one little thing would cause someone to leave a terrible review. We found the bed in the master to be extremely comfortable (we have a sleep number so we are usually disappointed when staying elsewhere!) it was new and we slept so well the entire time! The cabin was very clean and perfect for us! The view is absolutely unreal!!! The staircase may be a bit of a challenge for someone with small children but it is really pretty! We used the shuffle board and pool table every day which was a lot of fun! The only negative we ran into was a plumbing issue the second night which was resolved very quickly and then we had a major plumbing issue on our last day but after speaking with the owner who was frantically trying to fix it for us remotely (making several calls for a plumber at 9:00 on a Friday night). He was gracious enough to make it right with us and offered to pay for a hotel for our last night there. We didn’t want to leave the cabin but unfortunately we knew the later it got the harder it was going to be to resolve the plumbing issue so we reluctantly chose to go to a hotel for the night. We had not been able to use the shower for 2 days which was the main reason we opted for the hotel even though we just wanted to forget about it and go to bed knowing we had an 8 hour drive the next morning! We know the plumbing issue was no fault of the owner and most likely couldn’t have been avoided. He was extremely understanding and apologized even though it wasn’t his fault. We would definitely stay again if for no other reason than we know the owner will make it right should anything unforeseen come up! You will not regret staying in this beautiful cabin!
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The cabin and views were breath takingly beautiful.
This review is based on a seven day stay with my Fiancée.
To start with, the drive up that mountain to get to the cabin was super super sketchy! But realize, I’m from Louisiana so we don’t have mountains!!! I was finally starting to get use to it! Parking wasn’t fun either but manageable.
This cabin was beautiful inside and out. The cabin was very clean and neat which I found surprising. (Some reviews said it was dirty).
The fiancée and I cooked almost every night we were there. They had plenty of storage for our pots and pans, food, spices, etc.. They did have pots and pans, bowls, plates, cups, untinsels etc... there for you to use. We even used the outside grill which worked perfect (Even had utinsels to BBQ).
We used the hot tub a few nights too which was nice and relaxing after our hike up Mt. LeConte and after all the walking around Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg.
The living room couches were very comfortable and we enjoyed our morning coffee there. I can’t give a review on any of the TVs or the WiFi because we have Verizon and the cell service was excellent. We never turned on any of the TVs.
There was a washer and dryer on site and they both worked great without problems. Although they leave some, I would reccomend bringing some laundry detergent/dryer sheets with you if you are staying a week like we did.
We slept upstairs and the bed was very comfortable. *If you need more than one pillow to sleep i recommend bringing more, we just used the ones that were downstairs.* All the ceiling fans worked great for you people like me that need a fan for that little bit of noise.
The bathroom was nice too, not much storage area but we managed to make things work just fine. Took a good bit of time to get the jacuzzi tub to completely fill with water. But we weren’t in a rush for anything so didn’t bother us.
We used the pool table EVERY single day. I did notice some of the pool sticks were missing parts or were broken. We just used the same two every time. The radio upstairs worked great too. Really enjoyed having that to have a little music in the background because it was VERY QUIET up there.
If you rent this cabin you will not be displeased. I know some of the reviews are harsh on the place but I didn’t see where anything was a problem. Overall we had a blast and we will definitely go back to visit again in the future. And when we do, we will be going to this cabin!
Needs attention but beautiful view
The view is amazing but the drive to it was scary! Only parking for barely one car. The cleaner/manager was great! We had 7 and their description said 7 but they had a sofa sleeper break so they ordered a new daybed for us, which was great! The two decks are very nice to take in the view.
I so hoped some of the other reviews were over exaggerated but sadly they aren’t. The master is two twins pushed together that sag and creak when you move. The comforter is ripped. The satellite tv only gets 3 stations which is odd since they have WiFi. Bring your fire stick. The hot tub didn’t work for half our stay and although they fixed- the owner never responded. The floors creek terribly and the door doesn’t latch unless locked. The stairs are very hard to manage. Could be great if they updated all the beds and add some better cookware.
Lots of fire damage around.
Beautiful views and extremely peaceful
The views that this cabin has are absolutely breath taking! The hot tub was in good working condition and the overall cleanliness of the house was a plus. We were more than satisfied with our weekend getaway however, I would recommend fixing a couple of minor things. I noticed that there was something that appeared to be bodily fluids on the comforter... I assume the sheets are being washed after every stay but I would highly recommend washing the comforter as well. I’m weird about using bedding from rentals so luckily I had my own. The other thing I would recommend is getting the doors fixed as they do not latch properly unless they are locked. The one that leads outdoors is a little scary if you have children or fur babies as it will just pop right open if you push on it. There was a wind storm and we were woken up in the middle of the night to the upstairs door flying open. But again as long as they are locked they are fine. If it wasn’t for those two issues I would have given this cabin 5 stars. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Thanks again!
My family stayed at Cherokee Lodge Feb 8-11. We had a fantastic time. Everyone loved the cabin. The kids were thrilled with the loft area and loved learning how to play pool and shuffleboard. The weather wasn’t that cold but it was very rainy. We had a really nice time enjoying the hot tub and cooking in one night. I don’t have anything negative to say. Everything was very clean and we had all we needed to prepare a meal. I had a few questions when we got there and Ed, the owner, and housekeeping were very easy to get ahold of and very responsive. We would definitely stay at this cabin again.
Not the best
Where to begin. This place leaves a lot to be desired. First thing that should be mentioned, this place is pretty high up in hills. Be prepared to navigate some windy steep slopes on narrow roads. It’s very scary at times. If the weather is below freezing you will not make it to the top without snow chains or a 4x4. This was mentioned nowhere so we could prepare! Many cars and people were stranded and walked the 1.5 miles to the top. Parking is tricky. You must be proactive and willing to be prepared to be snowed in. The heater inside barely keeps you above 58 degrees. Bring plenty of blankets, an electric heater and lots of food Incase you get stuck. We had to hang out over the open stove to keep from freezing. Add insult to injury the fireplace is not allowed to be used. The place is pretty filthy. Cat hair or something was everywhere! On every piece of furniture and all the bed linens. It was fallin from the sky and landing in our food, disgusting! Place said no pets, but this obviously is not enforced. The little handwritten notes everywhere telling you what to do or not do like the place is the Taj Mahal become pretty annoying. The beds are not only old and wore out but the red infested linens felt like we were at a hunting lodge or a cheap motel. Furniture is all old and second hand. Drawers just fell out of the dresser and there are no closets. Laughable. If your expecting a vacation place look elsewhere. Don’t go there looking to watch tv. You get the basics and that’s it. I personally had to fix the tv to receive over the air signals and clear out the “smart tv” ads. I was pretty upset I could not watch the bowl games while snowed in. If you are looking for a roughing it camping style place to test your survival skills give this place a go. Tried calling and texting the owner and everyone on the list and got zero response. Terrible communication to top it off!! Good news is we survived, there is WiFi, and the view is nice. Therefore all this leads to 2 star.
