relaxing week in Traverse City

  • 4 of 5

Our family was very happy spending a week in this lovely cottage. The beds were comfortable & everything was clean. It was nice having use of a kitchen & laundry room. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck by the water while the kids searched for rocks. We also enjoyed the backyard and privacy it offered. The location was convienent to everything. We didn't meet Doug & Lauren but we communicated via txt a little and they were more than understanding about my breaking a knick knack of theirs. Nice place, nice people.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

We appreciated being close to, but not in, the action of downtown. Being able to watch sunrise and sunset over the bay right from the living room was fantastic.

Wonderful home on beautiful Grand Traverse bay!

  • 5 of 5

My family spent a week in Doug and Lauren's home on the Grand Traverse bay. I have a 10 year old son and 6 week old daughter. My son had the best time searching for Petosky stones and Leelanau blue stones in the water near the deck. He said he hit the jackpot! :)

My husband brought his kayak and I had my paddle board. We took turns on the water, because someone had to be on the deck with our newborn daughter. The water was a little rough for paddle boarding during the day, but it was calm early in the morning.

We walked the TART trail several times during the week. My favorite was walking to The Aroma coffee shop near Toms market, then walking back with my iced coffee.

We made dinner at home most of the week, but did venture out to Harringtons one night. The halibut and lettuce wraps were delicious!

The house was WELL stocked with everything you would expect and more. My son loved the board games and Netflix on the two rainy days. I was so happy that there was a little recliner in one of the bedrooms which was perfect for feeding my daughter late at night. My husband is a beer enthusiast, so the local beer glass collection was cool too! We used the grill on the back deck almost every day. It was full of propane, so we never had to worry about running out.

The only thing that could have made our trip better would have been a fire pit. It might not be possible with the shady backyard though, so it's understandable.

Thank you for lending my family your home. We had a great time and look forward to returning next year!
