The villa has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms ( one en suite with WC ) and 2 seperate toilets , together with a huge open style kitchen / dining / living room. The are lovely gardens around the house. There is an enormous terrace upstairs at the side and the rear of the house and a long veranda at the rear of the villa for al fresco dining and relaxing. The swimming pool is cleaned very regularly, children must be supervised at all times.
Plan is 10 minutes walk away past the boules centre on the left . A more enjoyable way into the village is to stroll past the vineyard and up through the tiny winding old streets - the route is mastered quickly and easily. The centre of the village has a pedestrian area to the left with a fountain and bars and restaurants with tables outside. There is a Presse which sells the full range of same day UK papers. There are 2 minisupermarkets , several boulangeries , a butchers , florist and numerous other shops . There is a large car park situated behind the Hotel de Ville. In our view the pick of the restaurants are Restaurant la Place , the one opposite Bar de la Poste and the glass fronted one opposite the butchers. La Tour de le Plan has a lovely courtyard restaurant and has a lively bar which stays open late.
The nearest village is Garde Freinet which is reached by turning left at the top end of the village ( at the triangle in front of the art gallery ) and proceeding along country lanes. It is perched at the top of a hill and has a pretty pedestrian central area with a number of good restaurants.
Ste Maxime itself is a charming Mediterranean resort on the north side of the Golfe (bay) of St Tropez. At the first roundabout when you come from Plan is a huge Carrefour to the right with a petrol station , as well as to the left a zip-wire tree climbing centre situated behind Aqualand , the excellent local waterpark. There are 3 buses from Plan to and from Ste Maxime daily . The last taxi on duty in Ste Maxime leaves at 12 30 so it is advisable to book. After that taxis have to come round from St Tropez which takes a fair while and costs much more.
In town there are various sea front car parks as well as one in the square just behind the front road. There is a beautiful pedestrianised area with a criss cross of small streets with boutiques , restaurants , shops , ice cream establishments and bars. It is very picturesque. There is a scenic minitrain which travels around the town going up and down the hill which gives wonderful views and an interesting and informative perspective. The local experts dominate the boules courts on the front close to the marina. There are rides and activities for children on the front. There is also an excellent casino which is open till late. The sandy town beach is popular as are the bars on the beach itself ( Paris Plage and Havana - where there is live music in the evening).
Visible from Ste Maxime across the bay is the bustling supercool St Tropez - a magnet for the affluent with its huge yachts , trendy boutiques and many restaurants. It is best accessed by ferry from Ste Maxime ( takes 20 mins , runs every 20 mins ) - an exhilorating jouney with spectacular views.
About 12km west of Ste Maxime along the coast is Port Grimaud. This man made little Venice is unique to the area. Its little islands are joined by small pedestrian bridges and there are self-drive and organised boat trips. There are many restaurants and boutiques and there is a real buzz to the place.
There are beaches all along the coast with parking areas - many with facilities. The beaches are generally sandy and the water refreshing and clean.
Plan is in the heart of the wine producing region and has numerous notable wines , especially the rose. Les Cave des Maures is an excellent cave close to the centre of the village which sells local produce and is well worth a visit even without purchasing. Numerous vineyards surround and can be seen from the villa.
Both the village and the area are beautiful and very special. Our Domaine is perfectly situated to allow you to experience the wonderful life in Provence. We hope you love it as much as we do.
