Whidbey's most desired location, South Whidbey, on gorgeous Useless Bay. Enjoy eagle and bird watching, clamming and crabbing in front of your beachhouse. With the sun setting behind the majestic Olympics, a mile plus tidal flat (on low tide)can make for hours of sandy beachcombing.
It's a great place for large and small children! Romantic escape for couples. Ideal retreat for artist or writer.
Visit the nearby village of Langley, just 10 minutes away. Perched on a bluff overlooking Saratoga Passage, Langley offers plenty of restaurants, antique stores and art galleries.
This beach house was built by our Norwegian uncle, Hans. He built this cabin as his home in the 1930's. There are many unique features to this house-a large cozy living room, master bed room with queen size bed and the second bedroom has built-in bunk beds, the dining room seats 8 easily, next to a cozy gathering kitchen. This home has housed many great family reunions!

Gretchen Whitney purchased this cabin in 1933
To enjoy the beauty of Puget Sound.
Rest and relaxation.
Perfect for our family weekend away!! Gretchen was wonderful to work with and I am so grateful she is sharing her cozy family home with renters.
You can feel the family history and love for this unique 1920's house. The area is very quiet and neighbors friendly. We had a wonderful time and will be back!
The only thing bad about this house was leaving!!!
The cabin/house was exactly the way a beach cabin should be! Love the great location...ON the beach...and minutes from the Mukliteo/Clinton ferry. Weather was great...almost 70 in March. Didn't get a chance to use the firepit...so we'll need to come back! Thanks for sharing your little piece of Paradise!
This little cabin met all our needs for a delightful weekend stay on the island. It was clean, quiet, and comfy with a view of the Olympics. The bedrooms are small, but the great room and kitchen are comfortably sized. It’s location on the south end of the island gave us easy access to a nice dinner in Langley, a hike at Ebey’s Landing and visit to a pumpkin farm. Even though the beach was not easily accessed on our stormy weekend, we enjoyed the herons and eagles from the front window. Gretchen was easy to work with for planning our stay at this little cottage. We look forward to our next visit to Whidbey.
Absolutely perfect spot. Easy to book, very comfortable, wonderful amenities on site to just enjoy the beach and the cabin. So much space! Cozy, plenty of pans in the kitchen to cook along with spices. Close to the wedding venue (fireseed catering), great spot to hang out and play board games. So fun to watch the eagles on the beach. We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. We played games, walked the beach, enjoyed the wildlife and sunshine, played football and frisbee in the huge backyard, kayaked and canoed, made meals and ate out at several great restaurants. Gretchen was very nice and easy to deal with. The cabin was perfect for us to go back home to Mill Creek a couple times for work and yet still feel a million miles away while we were there.
This place was great- 3 bedrooms. Lots of space. The description was right on. It's a wonderful retreat from the busy city life. The place was clean and the price more than fair. There's so much to do on the Island not enough time. Every business we went to (3) provided good prices and quality. The neighbors were friendly and yet respected our privacy. Gretchen is awesome. We'll be back.
