About JOANNE FISHER
I am Cumbrian born and bred having lived on farms in the area. Five years ago we moved to the village of Skelton and have just completeted Westoe cottage our second holiday property in the village. Our first property Toddles barn has been up and running for 18 months now and has been a great success, We were delighted when the opportunity came along to create another fantastic property in the village to the same high standard of our first. We have 3 daughters who all like the outside life. With 3 cats and pony called Rosie we are always busy and with the addition of a puppy life is definitively mad.
JOANNE FISHER purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why JOANNE FISHER chose Penrith
Westoe Cottage is ideal for a couple to find somewhere newly renovated in an ideal location to have a lovely break away. We have tried to provide all you will need in a spotless environment. The newly opened pub near by is a great asset and the local town of Penrith and the lake Ullswater as well as M6 motorway make this an ideal destination.
What makes this Cottage unique
If I was looking for somewhere to stay I would like some where that is interesting and well furnished with character. I would also like the property to be clean and well maintained as well as full equipped. I feel we have created this at Westoe cottage to give guests great value and a special holiday experience.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
E very thing
Peaceful cosy cottage.
Very well equipped, the added extras like tea, coffee, sugar, shower gel and bubble bath were useful. A hand towel in the kitchen would have been useful.
Good distance to attractions and away from the hustle and bustle of the main lake district sites.
Village pub more of a restaurant, not a drinking pub.
Good pubs with good food within 10 -15 minutes drive.
Perfect place to escape to
Though small the cottage has all you need and feels spacious the way it’s been set out. Having an outside patio was a bonus. The perfect place to stay for walking the Northern Fells. Loved it!
Lake district break
The property far exceeded my expectations. My partner and i were very impressed with the cleanliness and spacious nature of the property.Joanne was very helpful, and ensured that everything we needed for our stay was there. We would definately like to stay again.
Lovely, lovely place
Very clean, well furnished and well situated cottage. It had everything we needed for a pleasant break. Very good communication with the owner.
Very cozy. Nice little village
To find our property please leave M6 motorway at Junction 41 , heading for Silloth/Wigton on the B5305. Continue on this road for approx 5 miles. Take the first turning for Skelton on the left. Follow the sat nav into the village approx 1 mile. Continue up the village until you reach the Dog and Gun pub at a crossroads. Turn here signed towards Ellonby. Westoe cottage is just a few hundred yards down this road, just past the school on the opposite of the road set back off the road and adjoining a large black and white house -Wetheral House. Turn in off the road, just infront of Wetherall House is a small lane bearing right. The cottage sign and parking is on the end of the small garden wall. Parking for one car is provided here infront of the cottage and the oil tank/with wooden pergola. Please do not drive past this point and do not park infront of Westoe house garden wall or block their entrance. If extra parking is required please use the main road side or near the school which is allowed and safe to do so.
Westoe cottage is an ideal base to explore the Northern Lakes and also the unspoilt Eden Valley. We are close to many local attractions, historic country houses, lakes, mountains and fells are all within a 15 minute drive away.
Ullswater Lake is the closest and beautiful all year round and only a short drive over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass and you are into the heart of the lakes with Windermere and Ambleside easy to reach.
If you like historic properties and gardens then Penrith area is full of many fascinating places to visit. Hutton in the Forest is only 3 miles away, Dalemain House is 10 mins and the newly opened Lowther Castle 20mins drive. All have fantastic gardens and if gardening is your thing then a trip to the famous Larch Cottage Nursery and gardens at Melkinthorpe should definitely be on your list to visit.
For families the Rheged discovery centre is 10 mins away, there is also the Alpaca centre nearby and a trip to the Jersey Ice cream farm is well worth it.
There is so much to do and see in and around this area that i'm sure you will find plenty to do.
