About Susan Donovan

After our first visit in 2001, my husband and i fell in love with Beaufort and the surrounding area. Little did we know we would spend the next two years commuting from north of Atlanta and restore two properties in the historic district We worked closely with the Board of Architectural Review, various city officials, met wonderful neighbors and made many new friends.

During this time we made many trips to Hunting Island either camping or just to enjoy the beauty of the island. In 2003 we were fortunate enough to find another fixer-upper at Cedar Reef. We did another MAJOR renovation and since have enjoyed so many things Harbor and Hunting Island has to offer. We have recently taken over rental management of the condo after two successful years with a property manager.

We strive to make your stay at our villa as clean and comfortable as possible and provide you with things to make your visit one you will always remember.

Winter peace and tranquility

Thank you Susan for the many kindnesses you extended to Phil and I during our stay in your condo this past January and February. (Our second stay with you). The condo was immaculate, the welcome gift was so appreciated, and the condo was outfitted with everything we needed or could imagine wanting for our nearly two month stay. The space was bright (this end unit has windows that interior units do not).

The condo is perfectly located for birders like us - directly across from the tidal marsh, where the bird population changed depending on the tide. Any day that you can see a bald eagle swoop in front of you while you’re still drinking your morning coffee, followed by mergansers swimming the marsh at high tide and the sound of sora croaking into the darkening sky is one great day!. The deck was perfect for watching both sunrises and sunsets.

Sadly, we had to cut our trip a bit short because of illness. Susan, thank you for checking on me after I got home! Your caring for your guests is evident in everything you do. Phil and I are so appreciative. And of course we are looking forward to our return next January,

beach serenity

A beautiful location on Harbor Island with the patio overlooking the tidal marsh. The condo itself had all the amenities needed plus several surprises going above and beyond expectations! It was decorated in a sophisticated beach theme. This condo will be our first choice whenever we return to Harbor Island!

Harbor Island stay,,, Two Thumbs Up!

My stay at Harbor Island was relaxing and enjoyable. Just the break we needed. We visited Beaufort and local community and had a great time. The sunrise and sunsets were breathtaking. We dined at the Foolish Frog in Frogmore and enjoyed a wonderful meal.

The accommodations were superb. The Donovans went the extra mile to make the unit well appointed and complete with many things to do. We are looking forward to our next trip to Harbor Island

Great Condo For A Quiet Getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Susan's place. We found the condo to be clean, comfortable, and well equipped, to include an updated kitchen with newer model appliances. The condo is attractively furnished with quality furniture, something not always found in a beach rental. Though we didn't need to use them, having a washer and dryer in the condo is a nice touch. We also really enjoyed the marsh view through the sliding glass door and porch. We would definitely stay here again.

Great condo! Perfect for our little family!

The condo was very nice. The lock on the front was a little difficult to operate, but aside from that small detail, everything was perfect! We were welcomed with a gift from the owners (such an appreciated touch). There is a little walk to get to the beach, but the boardwalk to the beach is close from the back porch. The beach was gorgeous and not packed at all. We shared the beach with at max 10 other families. Only advise I'd share is be prepared to use bug spray while on the beach. We all experienced many bug bites while at the ocean. I'm sure that it has something to do with the surrounding marsh land. Overall, it was an amazing vacation, perfect condo, good food at the local resturants and we hope to return again next year.
