About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, In The Mountains, On The Lake, Big Creek Area Of Norris Lake

If you are looking for a great property "to do the lake" from, then SEAS THE DAY is it. This cottage is perfect for a smaller group. One bedroom has a queen size bed. The other bedroom has twin size bunk beds. There is also a comfortable sectional in the family room and a couch in the living room, should there be a need for additional places to sleep. There are two outside decks, outdoor grill and sitting area, fabulous lake views, and an awesome dock with a covered boat slip and swim platform. It is located down from Indian River Marina. The next marina via water is Whitman Hollow Marina. SEAS THE DAY is in the Big Creek area, across from Mile Marker 8. This side of the lake is a jewel. It offers smooth waters for tubing, skiing, and swimming. There are numerous coves to explore, and tends to be less busy than some of the other parts of the lake. This cottage is tastefully decorated, comes with just about all one needs to be comfortable, and is a great place to come back to after playing on the lake for the day. If you need supplies, Food City, Wal-mart, Walgreen's, CVS, and more, are literally 5 minutes away. Yet, you are in a quiet, peaceful, pretty area, with a 34,000 acre lake right in your back yard! How cool is that?! We, as owners, have worked diligently to make it (and keep it) a place that folks will want to come back to again and again. Should you have a larger group, we also have 2 other cabins in the same area, one being next door and the other a few doors down. You love your family and friends, however, additional lodging provides an opportunity to be together but not 24/7. There is a really nice fire pit between SEAS THE DAY and ONAWIM, (next door) that makes for a favorite gathering place in the evening. Each cabin has their own private boat dock and swim platform. The other lake front properties can be viewed on vrbo.com ad 127695 and vrbo.com ad 726359. All cabins are people and pet friendly! We hope you come and check us out. We are confident that you will not be disappointed. FYI: The number of steps to the lake are from between 50 to 110. +/- (depending on which cabin you choose and the height of the water, as it vacillates) If you have members of your group that find steps difficult, the marina is close by. You can drive down there, load your boat with goodies and any folks that are unable to navigate steps.

About Joanne Geveshausen

My husband and I both grew up in the Midwest. We met in Minneapolis, MN and married in February, 1984, moving to Kentucky in August of that same year. There we had three sons, but our love for the lakes (Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes) kept our thoughts of heading back that way percolating in the recesses of our minds. However, we discovered Norris Lake back in 2000, and the rest, as the saying goes, is history. We have made many memories here with friends and family over the years. We nurtured a vision of growing our slice of paradise so we could share this area with other lake-lovers and have been fortunate enough to make that dream a reality. We now offer three cottages here in the Big Creek area of Norris Lake and have spent a tremendous amount of time and energy making this a family-friendly place for you to come to year after year! From the awesome swim/boat dock, pontoon boats, to the decks and fire pit, SEAS THE DAY is a great place from which to enjoy the lake. We are confidant that you never tire of the beauty in and around Norris Lake. It is a feast for the eyes! Additionally, East TN is a HUGE play ground. Not only does is it home to one of the prettiest lakes, but there acres and acres of land dedicated to hiking, four-wheeling, hunting, biking and horseback riding. The outdoor enthusiast has a cornucopia of options! C'mon and enjoy!

Why Joanne Geveshausen chose Jacksboro

We choose this area not only because of its proximity to I75 and to town, but also for its privacy, its peace and quiet, and feeling of getting away from it all. The fact that the cabin is on a dead end lane lends itself to those qualities. There are two marinas in close proximity to SEAS THE DAY. They are Indian River Marina and Whitman Hollow marina. This end of the lake has a plethora of coves to hang out in, rocks to climb and jump off of,and rope swings. It offers nice and smooth areas to ski or tube, and plenty of places to dangle a fishing line. At night, the star-studded sky is something to behold. It is my humble opinion that it doesn't get much better than this!

What makes this cottage unique

As a guest here, you will really enjoy the night sky, the summer night sounds of crickets, owls, cicada bugs, the sun coming over the mountain in the morning, the swim area, the fire pit, the decks, the dock, the peace and quiet....I could go on and on. Additionally, it is conveniently located close to town. Food-city and super Wal-mart are approx 5 minutes away. Lowe's, Wal-Green's, CVS, hospital, Liquor barn, etc., all are nearby. If you have to make a beer run or an ice-cream run, it won't eat up much of your day, where you really need to be out on the lake!

Cozy Lake Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at this cozy lake cottage. The owner, Joanne, stopped by to make sure that we were happy and had everything we needed. The house is spotless! You can't go wrong with this rental. Everything you need is included, and that view, it's just amazing. We rented a tandem kayak from Joanne. We had such a great time!. She also has pontoons available for rent. You are very close to Indian River Marina (it's actually within walking distance). It was closed, but looks like a great place to grab a bite and drink some beer during the busy season. If you're on the fence about renting, don't be because this place is great!

Very nice facility

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great and well appointed. Very homey with lots of feminine touches such as pictures, vases, etc. Has everything you need including washer and dryer. You could set up housekeeping here indefinitely. Great patio outside the main entrance and a very nice little deck in back overlooking the river. The marina is less than a 1/2 mile away. Very nice covered boat dock. Would be great for a fishing week which is what we planned. But that didn't work out due to the wife having a broken ankle. Only negatives are it's 141 steep steps down to the boat dock. And there's not much of a view because of all the trees. And there's no lake view, just the river and the mountain on the other side. The wifi is pretty weak as well and not much of a cell signal for Verizon at least. Has two nice TVs and cable but just basic cable and fairly limited at that. None of that would have been significant if we could have fished all week as planned. We'll be back for a fishing week if I can keep the wife on her feet.

Owner's Response: For those of you unfamiliar with Norris Lake, it is controlled by a damn and the lake levels go way down in the fall and winter, to the tune of 25 to 30 feet. So, the 141 steps are the result of the lake levels being way down. It is referred to as "winter pool". The lake fills up again in the spring season to "summer pool". As a result, the number of steps decrease accordingly.

Relaxing Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

My mother and I, along with my dog, had a nice relaxing long weekend at Seas the Day. We enjoyed cooking on the gas grill, eating on the patio, jumping into the lake via the swim dock, floating the afternoon away and we are especially grateful for a pet-friendly home and area.

Our only complaints are in regard to technology which, since we were at the lake, it wasn't a huge deal as we were trying to disconnect a bit. However, if you had bad weather, it might be a bummer not being able to use wifi throughout the house, but rather, only in the front room of the house and several of the "common" cable channels were unavailable.

Joanne is very hospitable and we had a nice time!

Great Location - nice owners

  • 4 of 5

The house was as described and clean. The owners were helpful and checked in on us. I loved bringing our dogs and the house was pet friendly (dog dishes provided). The house was 'dark' in that no windows really faced the lake/sunny side and the lot if very wooded - but we weren't at the house during the day - we were on the boat. The covered dock was great for our wakeboard boat. The master bed was comfy, good water pressure in the shower, and plenty of hooks for your towels/clothes. The kitchen had everything I needed. The stairs were alot - bu they were expected. It is NOT a no-wake zone so make sure you have the right ropes/bumpers to protect your boat. I liked that we could WALK to the Indian River Marina - which had good fish tacos and a cold beer and friendly staff.

Very clean and comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at seas the day. Joanne greeted us upon arrival. The cabin was super clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The walk up and down the steps to the dock was very similar to other locations we have stayed in( about 120 steps) The dock itself was covered and we were able to keep our waverunners under cover the entire time we were there. The one negative about this location is that the dock is located at a turn in the lake. It really was only an issue on Saturday when the lake was super busy because the boats speed pretty fast by the dock. During the week we were able to swim off of the dock without any worries. We also rented a PONTOON boat from Joanne. It was perfect for cruising around the lake. It was spotless! Joanne truly takes care of her properties and takes pride in them. There was not one dog hair or animal hair to be found in our cabin or on the boat. I would definitely stay here again with a small group.
