2 large bedrooms, 2 baths, gourmet kitchen, lake front, with the best sunsets
About Ken McDavitt
We semi-retired after selling our business in Dover, NH and now divide our time between two beautiful homes in Sanbornville, NH and Rangeley, ME.
Ken McDavitt purchased this House in 2002
Why Ken McDavitt chose Sanbornville
Lovell lake is a pristine, crystal clear lake with a sandy bottom. Great fishing. Quite and relaxing. If you bring your boat, you can beach it at the town landing and walk to great restaurants and stores. Once you arrive, you do not have to step back into the car until you must go home.
What makes this House unique
Beautiful setting with spectacular views. The water is so clean you can actual drink it. My wife is a great cook and the gourmet kitchen provides the tools. 3 distinct outside sitting areas to follow the sun or shade.

Beautiful and Comfortable
We just loved this property. Lovell Lake is great for all water ativities. If you love sunsets and watching eagles fish out of the water this house is the place for you. The house is beautiful and we are very grateful to the owners for opening up thier home for vacationers like ourself. A pleasure to stay there. The house is exceptionally clean and well stocked. We hope to return in the future.
Relaxing family getaway
What an amazing home. Great layout for our family. It was very relaxing sitting on the deck watching the sunset over the lake every night. The dock made swimming, kayaking and fishing very convenient. The lake was clear and warm. We were worried about not having air conditioning but the nights were cool and the house cooled down quickly with the windows open. Wonderful week overall.
Really lovely spot and GREAT sunsets. Home also was lovely, but not a 3-bedroom, as advertised.
Overall, you will love this home and being right on the lake. It's easy to see that the owners take pride in their home and have done a fantastic job renovating it with all the comforts you need. We never turned on the TV because the wall of windows in the rear of the house overlooking the lake provided all the entertainment you need. We wish it was a true 3-bedroom, as advertised. Kitchen was gorgeous and everything we needed. Bathrooms were updated and very spacious. Lake was wonderful and we really used the canoe and large kayak. The two smaller kayaks really weren't usable.
Although our overall rating is 4 stars, translate that as 3.5. A few things we wish the home owner would change, which would make this a 4 or 5 rated property are listed below.
Items on our wish list:
1. Stairs off end of dock into lake - the stone "stair" access on at shoreline was esthetically pleasing, but slippery and older people would not be able to navigate. Jumping in is easy and the water depth works at end of dock, but getting out is tricky.
2. Screen doors for front door and 2nd floor deck door - would help with air circulation.
3. Functioning hot tub.
4. Table umbrella for 2nd floor deck - gets very hot.
5. Better sleeper sofa on 2nd floor - this essentially is the "3rd bedroom", but sofa and mattress will not work for multiple nights. Had to put mattress on floor for sleeping.
6. Much lower on the list, but would be helpful to have a wall-mounted A/C unit on 2nd floor in master bedroom. Could help keep upstairs cool for sleeping. All of us would much rather keep windows open to hear the loons (which we did!), but it did get hot up there at night due to western facing rooms.
Thank you for an extremely relaxing "vacation on the lake!"
Week in paradise
This was the perfect vacation for relaxation! The property was immaculate and had the perfect location with tons of amenities, like kayaks set up and ready to go. The house gets amazing sun and allowed us to swim all evening. We loved it and hope to return again!
Most Enjoyable Family Vacation
The newly remodeled lake house is beautiful, lots of windows to view the lake and sunsets. We spent most of our time enjoying the home, grounds, dock, raft and the lake. My family said this vacation was their favorite, I agree.
Quintessential lake house with generous amenities
Our stay, three generations of guests, at Ken and Sandy’s home was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had with Homeaway. From the moment you enter this impeccable home until you leave with the memories you’ve created, the home is the foundation of an amazing experience. With ample space for chairs and dock fishing, and a swim raft this is just one of many areas on the property to enjoy the views. Walk up the granite steps to the next seating area, which with some relocation of the Adirondack chairs, provides for great conversation and s’mores around the fire pit. There is also an outside dining area with two gas grills. The last, and perhaps our most favorite outdoor vantage point, was the upstairs deck. With a high top table and cushioned bench seats, this was our spot to catch some of the sun’s warmth, endless card games and early morning coffee.
Inside the home there is an entire expanse of floor to ceiling windows looking out over the lake. Whether you choose to sit and read a book, bird watch, or simply day dream this is the place – rain or shine. The windows also bring great joy to the lucky chefs who capitalize on the gourmet kitchen which is complete with modern appliances and all the necessary gadgets to cook complete feasts. Plenty of different seating options to accommodate intimidate or large family meals. The temps dropped into the 40’s one night and we couldn’t help but use the gas fireplace, first for ambience but then realized how much heat it produced.
After enjoying the day outdoors, get ready to have a great night’s sleep in the comfortable beds. Fall asleep to the sound of the lake’s water lapping against the shore and the mystical call of loons. Large bathrooms are complete with plenty of bath and beach towels. The washer and dryer are an extra nice touch for those who want to pack light.
We used the recreational equipment, specifically the canoe, to fish the lake each day. Paddling and patience were rewarded with large and small mouth bass, pickerel and even rainbow trout!
Because of the amazing kitchen, we were happy to dine in except for one lunch, don't miss the Shepherd’s Pie - the Monday special at the Poor People’s Pub, just miles from the house. We stocked up on fresh produce and baked goods at McKenzie’s Farm not far in Milton. The apple cider donuts taste especially good after hiking the local trails.
We couldn’t have asked for a better location or more beautiful home for this special visit.
