Kealakekua Bay is a protected marine sanctuary and an excellent place to snorkel, dive and kayak. Access to the ocean is next door at Manini Beach.The Bay is filled with a variety of marine life- tropical fish and beautiful coral. Dolphins and whales (in season) can be seen directly from your lanai! There is exceptional snorkeling right in front of the house.
This historic bay is where Captain James Cook first landed in Hawaii in 1778, and is also the site of Hiki'au Heiau. The federal park Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, The City of Refuge, is a short drive (3.5m) to the south.
While at Kaikanani, be prepared to relax and experience that laid-back life-style of the Kealakekua Bay/Honaunau area, no high rises or city noise here! Kealakekua Bay's village, Napo'opo'o, remains the sleepy village of yesterday. The only sounds you will hear will be the ocean rolling onto the shore. Hele mai!
