DESTIN AREA INFORMATION
There are so many wonderful restaurants nearby. Don't miss the Donut Hole for breakfast and the Back Porch for lunch or dinner. Both are landmarks in Destin. Silver Sands, a large factory outlet mall is seven miles east, for those rainy days (if there are any). The brand new Destin Commons outdoor shopping mall is at the corner of the Mid Bay Bridge and 98.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Pelican Beach Resort for your beach vacation and remember.... 'No matter how long you stay, it is never enough'
Needs updating but nice oceanfront, 2 balconies.
If you are looking for a place to stay with a beautiful view then this unit accommodates. The view of the beach and pool can be seen from the master and the living area. The elevators were always overcrowded and extremely slow so be prepared to wait. The unit is extremely outdated, is in need of a deep cleaning and provides zero extras. For instance there was only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom and two small and cheap trash bags. The pool is nice but by 1-2 PM in the afternoon the condo completely shades the pool. We have been to Destin many times in the past and have stayed at much nicer and much more accommodating condos for about the same price or a little more. This unit served the purpose and we had a great time overall but we will not be staying at this particular condo again.
Was extremely disappointed on vacation room!! Will NEVER us VBRO again! EVER!
1st.......... had to call for extra towels/washcloths. The lady had nerve to ask, " don't you have a washing machine"? WELL, I AM ON VACATION, which means I will not spend my time washing towels/washcloths!!!!
2nd.......was at beach/pool one day. Had to come back to room for ?. Met man on elevator, seemed nice. Got off elevator same time/floor as me. Was following me, I asked where he was headed. He informed me he was going to room 1701 ( My room!) to fix a towel holder in the master bath!! I informed him that now was NOT THE TIME & I did not recall a "hook" needing to be fixed. Scary!!!!!! How was I suppose to trust a complete stranger?? NOT!!!!! Anyway, why were we not told that someone, anyone was coming to our room??? If I had been in MY room and a complete stranger walked in on me I guess I would have had a heart attack or he would of got killed!!!! Soooo, who has access to YOUR room????? Who can come in unannounced as they please???
I Loved the Pelican Resort!!!! Nice people!! If ever I decide to reserve a room there again, I will do it directly through them, NOT VBRO!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!
We loved the view, private balcony, and being right on the beach. A great family vacation.
This place is CROWDED - First thing to realize is this building has 20 floors with probably 20 units per floor. Parking is tight when full.
Small Low DEF TVs - Do not rent this unit if it rains, you have a TV junkie or kids that are used to watching Spongebob in hi def on a 48 inch tv.
We checked in and got all settled in to watch the Final Four and were stunned to find all the TVs are Low Def. The tv signal was basic cable using standard definition and no cable boxes - just plain coax to TV input. TVs had HDMI inputs however owner doesn't pay for cable box with hdmi output so no use in having HDMI unless you bring apple TV or your own media player with HDMI out.
Security - Everyone under 25 has to wear an orange wristband at all times or be questioned by security. Problem is the wristbands are paper and dont last in water - then you get $25 charge to replace them. Smelled like a racket to me to get $25 out of parents every couple of days.
Needs TLC - Lots of small things to overlook like older appliances, water damage to walls and ceilings - no show stoppers but not a place I would rent again. I am used to MUCH nicer furnishings when paying this price for two bedroom.
Spacious ? - Owner uses the word spacious several times in description. Nothing about this unit is spacious in my opinion.
There is no "Dining Area" per se - there is a table and chairs but is in the "spacious" living area.
Beach - Beach area is nice but CROWDED -
Pool - the pool was wall to wall small kids and no chairs were available each time we tried to use it.
Hot tub - this was full of middle school boys the entire time so we didnt try that either .
Sleeps 6? - Assumes 2 people on pull out bed I guess? There are 3 beds plus sleeper sofa.
Porches - there are two porches - one had no furniture but possibly someone put all the furniture on the ocean side porch. Could be nice if properly furnished.
Wifi - wifi worked well
We waited too late to book for Spring Break so we overpaid as we booked this as a last resort since everything was gone - for the same money we could have rented much larger, better furnished places in Seaside or Watercolor.
Directly across the street from The Big Kahuna Water/Amusement Park. Walking distance to grocery and stores. Destin harbor area less than 1 mile.
