Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

Leave your car and your cares at the marina because Little Gasparilla is accessible only by water taxi! That means our beaches are uncrowded and tourists and traffic are just a mainland memory. If you are looking for a quiet tropical island to relax and unplug, Little Gasparilla is your dream vacation spot. Our "nightlife" consists of giant sea turtles laying their eggs -- our only bar is the sand bar where you can find sand dollars and shells!

This vintage Little Gasparilla Island cottage has been meticulously renovated with a flair for unique style and attention to detail...and nothing has been overlooked! From the stunning new granite countertops in the kitchen to the display of vintage Florida postcards adorning the living room wall, this cottage will delight you with both its small details and big views.

The kitchen has been updated with beautiful new slate-finish appliances, granite countertops, farmhouse sink in the island and stunning new flooring...not to mention dramatic views of the Gulf of Mexico.

The living/dining area also boasts Gulf views from the country farm dining table with its eclectic assortment of mix-and-match dining chairs. Bookcases flanking the antique pine fireplace mantel are stocked with an assortment of books and unique collectibles for a warm, comfortable vibe and lots of reading options. The home is decorated with painted furniture, vintage signs, island artwork and repurposed antiques for a truly unique and comfortable ambiance! This cottage is truly one-of-a-kind!

Both cozy bedrooms feature antique furnishings and brand new beds and bedding, and the master -- with a king bed -- offers dramatic Gulf views from the sliding glass doors that open to the front porch.

Outdoors, the front deck affords you a breezy spot to dine outdoors with dramatic views south towards Boca Grande and west towards LGI's spectacular sunsets. Bonefish Bungalow sits out on the beach much farther than its southern neighbors, giving it much more dramatic and unobstructed views!

Bonefish Bungalow sleeps 4 comfortably, is pet-friendly, includes access to a dock slip at Dock 42, includes all linens, beach chairs, beach umbrella and the services of our island concierge who will meet you at the dock and help transport luggage and groceries to the house for you.

Service 'extras' such as additional maid service or mid-week concierge service during your stay may be available by prior arrangement. Ask us about boat and jet ski rentals, golf cart rentals, guided fishing trips, sea turtle patrols, seaplane tours, etc. The house is to be occupied by no more than 4 persons without prior approval, and any party falsely representing the number of people in the home will be subject to immediate eviction without refund. In the event authorities order a mandatory evacuation from the island because of a hurricane, you will receive a prorated refund.

LITTLE GASPARILLA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...PLEASE READ!

• You cannot drive your car to the island and the only access is via water taxi; there is no vehicle ferry.

• You must park your car at the marina at the mainland but it will be perfectly safe there; parking is $6 a day.

• The water taxi is $10 per person each way and he will drop you right at our dock

• All homes come with a grill. Bonefish has an electric grill so no charcoal is needed.

• All homes come with beach chairs and an umbrella.

• You must bring all groceries to the island with you.

• There are no stores of any kind on the island, not even a convenience store.

• There is no need to bring drinking water; the water from the tap is safe and drinkable.

• There are first responders on the island and we have 911 service in case of an emergency.

• Golf carts are not necessary; the island is only 100-200 yards wide in most places and our concierge will meet you upon arrival to bring you to the house. But they are fun to go exploring.

• You can fish off the dock or the beach but non-Florida residents will need to purchase a fishing license.

• The beach is dog-friendly but dogs must be under your control, non-aggressive and most homes charge a pet fee

• This house has wi-fi but this is NOT the internet you are used to on the mainland. There is no unlimited data and wi-fi is NOT for entertainment. No Netflix, no skyping, no streaming music, no downloading videos, etc. Many people find the mobile hotspots on their smartphones are better alternatives.

About Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals

We have lived on the island for 30 years and we started renting our own home many years ago when we traveled. Then our neighbors asked us to handle rentals for them also -- and now we offer vacation rentals in a variety of price ranges and locations on the island...from dramatic beachfront homes to cozy interior homes with lots of privacy. Our homes are painstakingly cared for by their owners...we want you to feel like you are vacationing in a friend's home rather than a sterile "rental unit". So relax, kick off your flip flops, dig your toes in the sand and enjoy the island lifestyle!

Why Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals chose Florida South West

This cottage offers some of the most spectacular views on the island...its proximity to the beach can't be beat and from the front porch, you experience the feeling of being on the deck of a boat! It has fewer steps than many of the newer beachfront homes which makes it easier for those with small children or those for whom too many steps are troublesome. The views to the south are unobstructed and you can sit on the front porch and feel like you are on the deck of a ship....it is one of our favorite cottages on the island!

What makes this bungalow unique

When you stay in the this cottage you are surrounded by unique and interesting pieces of the past....from old Florida postcards to charming antique furniture with the patina of a bygone era. We think this well-loved furniture fits well with the ambiance of Little Gasparilla and enhances your experience on the island

Amazing secluded beach vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

The Bonefish Bungalow is absolutely amazing hideaway spot with prime beach front location and breathtaking views. This house equipped with everything you need and lots more. The owners put so much thought into every detail in order to make their guests' stay enjoyable and worry free. We had 5 of us staying in the house and were very comfortable. Thank you again!

Breathtaking beauty in a stunning beach home

  • 5 of 5

Simply stunning, you couldn't be any closer to the ocean in this beautiful, modern, well maintained beach home. We spent most of our time swimming in the warm ocean, Kayaking and lazing on the large covered deck spotting manatees, seabirds and chatting to the odd island guest or resident. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating we never wanted to leave. The home comes with everything you could need for a perfect, secluded beach getaway, including fascinating and unique decor which made it even more special. You can only access the island by boat which makes for a blissfully peaceful vacation, with unspoilt views and only the sound of the ocean from your bedroom window at night. One small note, Kayak rental was pricey when sourcing off the island and we discovered they rent on the island through their guest services contact, but other than that we can't wait to return to the island again in the very near future. It was worth every cent!

A beautiful escape from reality with lots of character and charm

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we were dropped off at the dock, we knew this was going to be a very special honeymoon. When we stepped up on to the deck of Bonefish Bungalow, we were blown away by how close we were to the water and how bright and peaceful it all was. The interior of the bungalow is cheerfully decorated, quaint and quirky, and we were delighted with the modern kitchen and the BBQ on deck, which met all our culinary requirements. Every evening, we watched the sunset over the sea, then placed candles all around the deck to have our dinner. A perfect romantic getaway.

Simply wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Bonefish Bungalow on Little Gasparilla in early March. What a delightful week.....swimming, walking, grilling outside. Bonefish is a perfect beach bungalow....right on the beach, bright, well kept, comfortable and clean. Watching magic sunsets and then falling asleep to sounds of the waves....beats any place on the mainland. We simply loved it.

Quiet Time to Rejuvenate

  • 5 of 5

Two weeks in BoneFish Bungalow. A good retreat for a couple of weary travelers. Covered deck was great, time to sit and watch the waves, the birds, dolphins, and wonderful pet dogs. (we purchased some treats to give the pets as they walked by). Inside was inviting, lots of whimsical items to catch our eyes and imaginations. The kitchen was well stocked with various items that came in handy. Had friends visit for one night and it is a bit of a tight fit for more than two adults, but for one or two nights very doable. Rented a golf cart for a couple of days, but one would probably have sufficed for us. Staff, including Buddy and Traci were very helpful and were able to answer our questions about a variety of things, from recommended off island restaurants to getting the heat/ac units working for us. We very much enjoyed the quiet surroundings of this island retreat. Only a couple of suggestions, although they should not be major concerns. One is to consider adding one or two cushioned lounge (reclining) chairs for the deck. There is no seating to allow for this repose and I would have loved these on the deck. The other item (although not crucial) is to fix the shower door so that it is easier to slide/glide on its' tracks.

I think this home is ideal for either small families, two couples who are close friends, or anyone who seeks a pretty spot on an ideal beach for fun and relaxation.

We will recommend this place to friends looking for an island adventure and a place of retreat.

Our best to the Gaines family and to the owners, (who were helpful in instructing us in figuring out the heating system; Our first couple of nights were very chilly). Thanks to Laurie Gaines for suggesting this home to us for our holiday.

The perfect place on Little Gasparilla!

  • 5 of 5

Any closer to the beach and you would be IN the water! This place is VERY cool - newly remodeled with all the comforts of home! The décor is AWESOME! If it weren't for the beach and water, we could have stayed indoors! We did not view any other homes on Little Gasparilla, but it would be hard to imagine any better than this! If you're looking for excitement, Little Gasparilla is not for you...but to relax and unwind without all the hustle and bustle, then this is it! Make sure you bring everything you think you may want to eat for the week because it costs $20 each time you take the shuttle boat (which needs to be pre-arranged with the shuttle driver). So going to and back from the mainland, I will cost you $40.00. We have our own guest house in Leclaire, Iowa (home of the American Pickers). And this place is as cool as ours (just not historic). Anyone headed to the pickers, look us up 1851 Old Mill Guest House on Facebook. (Sorry for the plug)
