Williamscraig Holiday Cottages
About Findlay Erskine
Rose and Findlay Erskine came to Williamscraig, in 1999, and moved into one of the old farm cottages, which we renovated over a six month period. We didn’t have much money, so decided to do the work our self’s, and worked every night, and every weekend to get it back into a condition it could be lived in. We then renovated one of the farm buildings then moved into it and rented out the cottage, slowly started to convert all the farm buildings into the accommodation your are staying in today. The first three cottages (Rose Honeysuckle, and Appletree cottages) were built in 2010 , and the second development where built in 2014 (Laurel, Beech and Eden cottages) which was an eco build, with a ground source heat pump, 10 Kw’s of solar panels, wood fibre insulation, and a clay block construction.
Findlay Erskine purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Findlay Erskine chose Linlithgow
The Cottages look really old as there built using stone and slate roofs with cast iron gutters, but are new inside with the latest insulation standards which make them very warm. We have a new swing park outside to keep the kids of the screens. There are lots of things to do for all ages and will keep any group occupied for weeks, including Edinburgh on our door step, the Scottish mountains, the sea side, and some great visits.
What makes this Cottage unique
All the Cottages have their own bubbling Jacuzzi hot tub for you and your family/friends to enjoy. , which are a big hit, plus a badger cam so you can see our local badgers
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
A family break to Scotland
The barn conversion was ideal for our 2 families (4 adults and 3 children aged 6 and under). There is ample space for everyone, highlighted by the ‘loft’ area up one flight of stairs.
The hot tub, on-site playground and badger cam really bring the place to live and make it a unique holiday experience at a good price.
It’s also in a great location to get trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow but also is secluded enough to make what you want of your trip.
Lovely, quiet location.
Myself and my family have just returned from our 4 night mid-week break in these great cottages.
The location is fantastic, nice and quiet, but still within reach of Linlithgow.
My family of 4 had more than enough space in the cottage, I'm sure it could comfortably accommodate larger groups.
The Jacuzzi was great and got lots of use, nice and tucked away.
The extras; such as Badger Cam were a real bonus.
It would have been a 5 star review, however we felt that a few spots were missed when cleaning up prior to our arrival.
We would definitely return and recommend to friends.
Thanks for your kind review and I am glad it all went well. I do hope you stay again and we will be doing a spring clean after the Easter holidays in a weeks time and will catch any imperfections then.
Many regards Findlay
Fantastic holiday home, excellent cottage with spa pool.
We had a great stay and Findlay the owner was very helpful. Spacious and confortable with everything we needed. Really enjoyed the badger cam and seeing the wood peckers etc. Great having the hot spa on the deck which was greatly enjoyed by the whole family. Highly recommend this one.
Hi Thanks for your kind review, we do work hard trying to think of new idea's like the nature cameras on the badger sett and bird feeder and because of that we have been so busy. Hope you visit again and have another amazing stay.
Many regards Findlay
Weekend Trip with Family and Friends.
Our group consisted of 8 people in total, 2 families, both with 2 children aged between 7 and 3. Can honestly say that everyone had a brilliant time.
The cottage was immaculate upon arrival, very spacious, even sleeping 8. Our 2 kids slept on the sofa bed on the gallery area (playroom by day) and thought it was the best thing ever!! Both sets of parents slept in the large bedrooms on the ground floor, which essentially had an en-suite each (1 jack and jill). Kitchen had everything you would have at home, and the lounge/dining room could handle 8 for dinner easily. Outside, there was plenty to keep the kids (and adults occupied)....tree swing, a toy hunt in the woods arranged by Findlay (the owner) where he hid various cuddly toys in the trees and we had a competition to see who could find the most. (Findlay kindly brought over prizes for both winners and losers). Also, there is a large grass area where the kids played, with swings and chute. The hot tub was the best though....kids played by day and adults relaxed in it at night....then jumping back inside to the lovely stove to warm up again. Beautiful scenery and all facilities you need nearby if the weather not great. Overall, fabulous time and going back over the new year period for a week!
Hi Thanks for your kind words i do work really hard to make your holiday the best, the bears in the woods was my last idea and is so simple but has been a very big hit with young and old, i now have a picnic area, camp fire area and 4 more swings and games to play in the woods. So if you go down to the woods today, you know what to do.
Thanks again Findlay
