About the property

Town house sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms private sunny roof terrace

Au pied de La Cite in a lovely clean quite street

This characteristically quaint town house sits mid way along an immaculately kept French side street with friendly neighbours always on hand to bid you a cordial bon jour. The house consist of a kitchen/ dining room; lounge; two spacious bedrooms, one with large en suite bath/shower room with wash basin and toilet. The other bedroom has a connecting door to the main shower and toilet. There is also a small single bedroom accessed from the top bedroom. All rooms radiate off the central courtyard which leads to the private and sunny roof terrace with barbecue. We don’t claim a view of the castle but if you stretch your neck you will see just how close you are to this spectacular world heritage site, you will feel you could almost touch it.

There are small shops and supermarkets at either end of the street and a variety of patisisseries, restaurants, clubs, galleries, museums craft and gift shops all within a 150m of the front door.

Local Activities: Golf

There is a Carcassonne Golf Club (18 Holes) situated close to the medieval City, between Cavanac and Carcassonne on the D204. Good standard parkland course and visitor friendly.

Fishing is available in the river Aude, a 5 minute walk, or at other local lakes, rivers or the Canal Du Midi.

Lac de Cavayere is a man made lake with beach which is a 15 minute drive away.

Skiing is available within an hours drive.

Getting Around: There are small shops and supermarkets at either end of the street and a variety of patisisseries, restaurants, clubs, galleries, museums craft and gift shops all within a 150m of the front door. Larger supermarkets are a brief bus ride away (or a 15 minute walk for the energetic).

The heart of the historic La Cite is less than 500 yards away with the modern city about a 15 minute walk via the lovely Pont Vieux across the picturesque river Aude. The house is close to all bus and rail service with the Navette de la city stopping at the Rue Trivalle end of the street and the Navette Airport stopping at the main entrance to La Cite.

Very well equipped property in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from a week in Carcassonne I would strongly recommend it to anyone old or young. The city is amazing and this cottage is just a short walk from the city walls. The location is perfect for teenagers as it has the necessary Wi-Fi but is also 30 seconds walk from coffee,, gift shops and local stores etc.

We walked for 2 minutes to find the river and weir, only to discover and watch 4 Otters eating and playing around to the groups of tourists.

The cottage is very well equipped but you must appreciate this is a traditional French house so the layout might not suit everyone but we loved the quirky ness with the rooms on different levels etc. The lounge on the Middle floor is perfect to sit and relax after long hot walks with the ceiling fan being a real bonus. The roof terrace was a great way to spend the warm evenings with a couple of great BBQ's cooking up local cuisine including rabbit.

Although street parking is not available there is ample free parking a short walk away.

All in all a wonderful week away.
