We had a wonderful time. The house was very clean, had an abundance of amenities. We were able to ride the bikes to town. Liz was very timely with responding to our questions.
Liz was incredible throughout the whole process. She was very responsive, the home was gorgeous, and it had everything you could possibly need! We will be renting from her again next year!
Beautiful home..has everything plus more
Wow! Just left this beautiful home and can’t say enough about it. We had to hunker down a day due to hurricane Dorian rain ,it ended up being a great day to cozy up with a blanket and play games/ puzzles and spend quality time with our group. We rode bikes , walked into town or took uber. We all said we would definitely come back and stay in this house again. It was absolutely perfect. We found a hidden gem at the VFW during the storm, met very friendly and kind locals to calm our anxieties about the storm ,had inexpensive generously poured top shelf drinks ( be careful) and the restaurant attached to it has one of the best meals with great prices we had. Don’t judge.. Chef Dion makes amazing food.
Comfortable & Conveniently Located
The property is well maintained and located a short distance from Oak Bluffs Harbor. The welcome bottle of wine & note was a pleasant touch. The house is spacious and affords enough space for everyone to relax without feeling crowded. The online pictures are accurate and all rooms are furnished comfortably. Of all the houses we've rented on the Vineyard, this is one of my favorite. I would definitely recommend and would rent again!
Perfect home in walking distance of OB!
Another fantastic vacation at a perfect, modern property with every convenience. Renting here is easier and easier annually. Extremely responsive and helpful owners. Looking forward to next year!
Our home is located .7 miles from the hustle and bustle of downtown Oak Bluffs. What makes this location unique is that you are a short walk or bike ride away from all that Oak Bluffs has to offer, yet far enough away to experience island peace and tranquility. During the day you can enjoy shopping on Circuit Ave, or jumping into the ocean at Inkwell beach, and then retreat back to the quite solitude of our screened in porch for an evening beverage. To get to town on foot, you will travel down a quiet residential dirt road and then across a park. No need to walk or bike on any major roads, which is great if you are with kids! Our house is also down a short dirt road to the County Road bike path, which connects to miles of island bike paths.
We are situated 2 miles from the Vineyard Haven Steamship Authority Terminal and 1 mile from the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority Terminal and the Island Queen /Hyline Ferry Dock.
We are a family of four who love the island more than anything in the world. I was raised as a year round resident of the island, but am raising my family in the Boston area. We split our time between Boston and the Island and are thrilled to have built a home for our friends, family, and guests!
Liz purchased this House in 2016
Why Liz chose Oak Bluffs
The land on which this home was built was purchased in 1966 by Dorothy House, the great-grandmother of the current homeowner. Dorothy was an Oak Bluffs businesswoman who owned Dot’s Restaurant (now the Mad Martha’s location) and later Dot’s Snacks (now the Edgartown National Bank branch next to the Flying Horses). She lived for many years in a Gingerbread cottage at the end of Circuit Ave (now Cousin Rose Art Gallery). Her great-granddaughter remembers her fondly and is thrilled to have had the opportunity to turn the land purchased a half-century ago into a home shared by friends and family. In her memory, we have named this home Dot’s House.
What makes this House unique
This home has all the modern conveniences one would want in a vacation rental, while still honoring the charm of victorian architecture. We built this home with multiple groups in mind, which means there is plenty of room for everyone to be together, while still having private bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for everyone's enjoyment and relaxation. The home is in the perfect location: You can walk or bike to town and enjoy the hustle and bustle of OB, but return to the serenity of this home, which is nestled on a quiet street. The screened in porch provides a quiet enjoyment into the evening.
