Let yourself be surrounded by tumbling, white, waterfalls. Open the windows to "God's Air Conditioning". The cool air and ceiling fans in each room keep the cabin comfortable in the warmer months. Sit back and rock on your front porch as you watch the sun rise over the mountain. Then amble down to the rolling water and sit on a sheltered multi-level deck and watch the trout. Enjoy your rock fireplace, stereo, high definition TV, Wi-Fi, as you plan your day, which could include... A trip to quaint Burnsville to antique and specialty shops, then on to Asheville to enjoy "life". Return home to an updated kitchen, or grill out, or build a fire in your fire pit. You can then enjoy soaking in your claw foot tub with a glass of wine. When the day is over sink into your queen sized bed and listen to the rain on your tin roof. Before you leave you can wash, dry and iron you clothes for the trip... or not!

About Sandra Childs
I live in Asheboro, NC which takes me about 3 1/2 hours to reach the cabin. I own an antique shop hence the antiques in the cabin. I have two grown children and four grandchildren all of which love to spend time on the mountain. My son hunts and four wheels, my daughter reads, rocks, shops, drinks wine and smiles a lot. This smile is due to the fact that all four grandchildren dash to the water and we only hear laughter for hours.
Sandra Childs purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Sandra Childs chose Cattail Creek
I fell in love the moment I saw this little cabin and I love the history that comes with it. This cabin and the one next door were the first to be built on the mountain. It is small but it suits it to be so. The cabin is warm and welcoming. In mild weather I stay outside to enjoy my plants, the fire pit, the porch, the view up the water from the deck. I am here most often by myself but I am never lonely. It is home...
What makes this Cabin unique
Once you make my cabin your home (for whatever period of time) you will understand the feeling of peace and comfort. Sign the porch ceiling and leave a bit of you behind. Also there is a journal that you are welcome to share your experience, whatever it may be...

Our Favorite Place
Adorable cottage! Everything was clean. Loved having access to the creek. Thank you!!
Had a great time.
The cabin was exactly what we hoped it would be. We especially loved being able to hear the creek from inside the cabin! We were already making plans to return again even before our stay was over. Also, loved watching a chipmunk foraging in the yard each morning!
The cabin was welcoming warm and cozy. All the amenities we needed. Everything was great 👍 only if the weather would have cooperated. Thank you so much.
Thank you Kathy.
I did all I could do to get the weatherman to cooperate but he apparently did not take my threats seriously! Glad that you enjoyed the shelter of the cabin!
Come again anytime and give that weather another chance!
COZY QUIET GETAWAY
This cabin is the ideal for a weekend getaway. It was cozy, quiet, and truly away from it all. The other cabins around did not have renters but we met some locals and a neighbor, all very, very nice. As the listing notes, Sandra has everything that you need there at the cabin to just sit back and relax, just bring your clothes and food. We cooked all of our meals in and had everything that we needed to do so right at our fingertips. The hammock and outdoor deck near the stream are relaxation at its best, though it was a bit cold to actually get in the creek. It did rain during out time, so we were unable to use the fire pit, but really enjoyed the rain on the tin roof as we relaxed and rocked on the front rockers with coffee. The fire logs in the den area keep this cabin heated perfectly. We did not have to use the bedroom unit in the back and the temperature was in the 30's during our stay. Sandra also has maintenance available for anything that you need and she leaves his number for you. Do not hesitate to call Paul, as he is absolutely top notch. Prompt, professional, and the nicest guy you could ever meet. If you are looking for a weekend away then this cabin is the one. I will add that above and beyond the actual beauty of the property, and the indoor/outdoor space, the customer service that we received while there directly with Sandra and Paul on our needs, made the visit worth so much more. Beautiful cabin, grounds, location, staff and owner. Sandra covers it all... We will be back!
WOW! It is guests like you that enjoy the cabin and take the time to share your experience that make it all worthwhile.
Thank you for your kind words and please come back anytime to enjoy the water and the fire pit
Beautiful cabin and setting
Cabin is very cute and clean. Wonderful place to stay while visiting the mountains
Cozy little cabin!
We had a great weekend at Child's Play! It's a comfy little cabin, perfect for the 2 of us. It would really be great in the summertime, with the huge deck by the rushing creek waters!
I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. You are correct, it is wonderful in the summer. Come on back and enjoy being outdoors more. You are always welcome!
