3 Bedroom, 2 bath Beachfront with Awesome Bay & Ocean views
Seaside Sunrise is an original, 1950's bayfront beach house that's updated and upgraded for today's comforts. The house has an inverted floor plan--main living areas are on the second floor. Three bedrooms, two-full baths, second story open concept floor plan, lots of windows and climate-controlled porch add sweeping beach, bay, and ocean views. The kitchen is well-equiped with plenty of counter space & newer appliances. Flooring is either hardwood or ceramic-tiled in main living areas.
Prime Hook Beach is only 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC, and 35 minutes to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. Cape Henlopen's beautiful ocean state park & historic Lewes are about 25 minutes away.
Prime Hook Beach is special because it's private. Residents can have campfires, fish, and load kayaks, standup boards, or canoes directly in front of their bayside properties. Beach games, beach furniture, and shade shelters are permitted so you can leave your equipment setup all day long. Our children have even camped on the beach!
Prime Hook Beach and its Wildlife Refugee are a birder's paradise, especially during migrations. Great Blue Herons are here all year-round and will let you watch them fish along Prime Hook Road, the marshes, and shorelines. We have two purple martin houses in the yard--quite busy spring & summer, any many other bird visitors.
When the season permits there is nothing more healing than sleeping on the porch's double-sized futon sofa. Open the screened windows, inhale clean salt air, listen to the waves, and gaze at the beauty of the moon and stars! Waking up to a seaside sunrise is an ideal way to start your day.
The entire house has central air and heat and is comfortable. The ground-level bathroom shower is great for coming in from the beach when you're sandy & sweaty. Doggies love the outdoor hose after swimming; you'll both enjoy the warm ground-level indoor shower with a hand-held attachment--bring your dog shampoo along!
The entire property is fenced-in. There is a picnic table and charcoal grill in the yard and two purple martin bird houses. We kept some of the original beach house features, but the comfort is truly 2018!
Options: Our linens are commercially laundered with each change of guest, including the comforters.

Winter week on Prime Hook Beach....
We opted to spend Christmas week at Prime Hook and this rental is perfect for that! Very very clean, which started us off right and set a nice atmosphere. As we arrived huge flocks of Snow Geese were covering the beach just a few yards in front of us. The real gem of this house is the sunroom, all glassed in, high up so you can see the entire beach and very warm on a bitter cold winter day. The house had most things that you would need for a week's stay and everything worked. An open space living room, dining room and kitchen all in one. The sunroom has a lovely booth made from one in an old Cape May Ferry and we ate there the entire time as the view was so spectacular. We had our two Border Collies with us and the house suited them just fine! 0-)) There is also a fenced in yard but we walked out dogs on leash inside of it as it is not particularly secure for the innovative active Border Collie. Would be fine for less adventurous dogs. We only saw two people on the beach, both with dogs, the entire week. Our own dogs loved the beach. We had the number of the owner and though we did not need to contact her, it was obvious that we would have been able to quickly if there had been a need. Would recommend this home for anyone who wants to spend some quiet time at a Bay Beach.
House is very clean, comfortable and uncluttered; quiet beach is literally right out the door!
We had a great time and hope to return! Many thanks to Ann for communicating so well and sharing her nice beach house with us. Happy Thanksgiving!
Relaxing beach stay
We had a delightful vacation at this lovely Delaware bay home. Walking the beach, sunrises, watching the shorebirds was all enjoyable and rejuvenating. The area is quiet as it is surrounded by Prime Hook Wildlife Preserve. Our dog loved her vacation too - the house is perfect for pets. The kitchen is well equipped - we cooked all our meals for four people here. Anne is friendly and communicated well about our visit; we hope to return!
peaceful and quiet
It was the most peaceful and quiet end of this long shore down to the Atlantic that we've found. Make up your mind before going on midges and what you think about warnings on water quality. We enjoyed it and we were able to go swimming.
Right ON the beach - perfect for dogs (humans too)
This is a great house - comfortable beds, good strong shower, kitchen had everything you needed. TV had ROKU which was very nice. The fenced yard was ideal for hanging out while barbecuing. The beach was literally steps away. Our Golden Retriever Charlie was in heaven the entire vacation (so were we)! Lots of seabirds and horseshoe crabs, and we even saw a couple of dolphin! We've stayed at many vacation rentals and this truly was one of the best. We would recommend staying here and would love to come back again.
If you want to venture out for a 1/2 day trip, nearby Cape Henlopen State Park has great, reasonably-priced activities for both adults and children--check their website. We learned a lot about the local bay/ocean environments from their nature center that has hands-on experiences. There are planned fishing and eco-adventures. The state park has the ocean waves that kids like for boogie-boarding, great bike paths, clean changing facilities, a snack bar and local history of submarine observation during WWII. Nearby Rehoboth and Dewey Beaches have the usual ocean beach attractions such as waterparks, go-carting, miniature golf, and movie theaters. Rehoboth also has updated their tax-free outlets--shop at three separate locations in Rehoboth, be sure to get a "coupon book" at the kiosks. My current favorites are the Coach and Lululemon outlets. If you have teenagers wanting the action of the Rehoboth Boardwalk while you prefer the peace & quiet of Primehook, there's a shuttle bus in Rehoboth where you can drop them off and pick them up. The Prime Hook Wildlife Headquarters located off of Route 16 and Costal Highway 1 has a nature center, a variety of trails and guided tours--check their website. You can also walk along the shoreline from Prime Hook to the Broadkill Beach General Store for a quick lunch or supplies--about a two-mile walk or kayak paddle. Milton, DE is the closest town to Prime Hook Beach--very quaint with lots of free downtown parking. New businesses and restaurants continue to open! Milton has an active local theatre company, farmer's market, ice cream shop, public library, and a variety of popular festivals. Milton also has the closest shopping center to Prime Hook Beach with a grocery (Food Lion), Walgreens, Family Dollar, and Liquor Store. The same shopping center also has pizza, Subway & Chinese restaurants, a nail salon, and a tempting donut shop. Nearby and just off of Route 16 east from the shopping center is a Dollar General, Family Diner, a Creole restaurant, authentic Mexican grocery store and our favorite--"The Backyard Restaurant" with tasty vegan and unique chicken, fish, and meats on their lunch and dinner menus--check their Happy Hour specials! West on Route 16 in Milton you'll find the popular "Militonian Restaurant" highly recommended for pizza and wings, a post office, gas station with great fried chicken and deli, and an Ace Hardware store. The ever-popular Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, tastings, and tours is a local must.
