About Nancy and Dave
Nancy and I have fallen in love with New Orleans. We first experienced New Orleans after volunteering with home repairs after the Katrina disaster. New Orleans is such a rich tapestry of culture and diversity. The people are warm and inspiring. We wanted to find a way to be part of it all. We worked for 5 years to be able to purchase a house and are transitioning part of our life there. We wanted to have a place to live and continue volunteering and helping where we can. We hope you enjoy your stay at our home and we welcome you! Please contact us anytime. Sincerely Nancy and Dave
Why Nancy and Dave chose Algiers Point
Algiers Point is truly historic. It is the 2nd oldest area in New Orleans. It was establish shortly after the French Quarter. We call it "French Quarter Lite" It has a large number of historic homes. It is truly a Victorian Village. One of the delightful aspects of staying in Algiers Point, is that you can have easy access to the action of the city and return to enjoy the quiet and unique nature of the neighborhood. There are quaint bars and eating establishments that are well worth patronizing. We encourage you to explore the history of the area. It is fascinating. There is not a grocery store walking distance from the house, but there is a delivery service They will stocked the house before or during your stay .
What makes this House unique
You are a 10 minute walk from the Algiers Ferry. The Ferry is a 5 minute trip across the Mississippi and costs $2.00 each way. The Ferry offers you a beautiful view of the City. You are less than half a mile from the expressway to downtown. Uber or a cab ride is also an option. There is driveway parking for 2 cars and street parking in front of the home. There is a charcoal grille and patio space furnished with a table and chairs. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, so if you want to eat at home, there are grocery stores driving distance from the house, but not walking distance. There is also a grocery delivery service. Enjoyed our stay
The house was perfect. It was clean, neat, very spacious & the beds were so, so comfortable. We encountered absolutely no problem with anything during our visit!!!
We drove to the ferry dock since we’re a little older than the usual festival goers. 😂😂 It was a breeze getting across & back via the ferry.
Thanks for a great stay
We had an amazing stay, the property was very clean and well equipped with everything you will need. Nancy and Dave communicated great. We took the ferry and drove to th French Quarter both were a short trip. We highly recommend this property.
The house is absolutely beautiful! Dave and Nancy have thought of everything to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible, and I do mean everything! There are plenty of towels, bedding, dishes and storage containers. There is even a charcoal grill. The beds were comfortable, the master bed was a little hard, but surprisingly, I slept great.
The ferry is a short walk, or if you have a broken ankle, such as my case, a short drive with $5 parking there. The ferry ride is $2 each way. Remember, they take cash and exact change only.
The ferry drops you off at short distance from all kinds of activities. So extremely convenient!
Getting back to the house, I can't say enough great things. If I had a question, Nancy was there to answer it immediately.
I love to wander cemeteries, there are a couple in Algiers to explore, again a short walk, but it was worth it.
spacious, comfy home
Three friends and I stayed here for Mardi Gras 2018 and it was perfect! Bigger than you would expect and with everything we needed! Beds were very comfy and everything was clean. Loved that we had access to a washer/dryer. (Came in handy when we got rained on torrentially and hadn't packed enough outfits for that situation!) We bought ferry passes and drove to the ferry every day, so it wasn't hard at all to get into the French quarter. Nancy and Dave were also very easy to contact when we had a question about checking in. Thanks so much for our great stay!
Great for group of 6!
Close walk to ferry that takes you right to French Quarter. Quiet neighborhood!
Good family place!
We enjoyed our stay with our adult children. We walked to see the New Year's fireworks across the river in the French quarter. One day we took the 10 minute ferry to the French quarter. The house was comfortable despited unusually cold weather in New Orleans.
