Awesome location, great property, gracious host

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights and ended up staying 6 thanks to delta! Christian met us on arrival, was extremely welcoming. Space was great for our family of 5 (3small kids). Two younger kids had the upstairs and they loved it. We had a nice room off the master perfect for a pack and play. Location was easy walking distance to great places to grab breakfast and lunch with a short walk to streetcar line or quick Uber to the French quarter. We loved the comfortable space with very nice amenities after long days touring the city. Would recommend for anyone visiting all parts of NO

The Library in lower Garden District

  • 5 of 5

The Library is exactly as pictured - very charming and warm. The beds are extremely comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. The location is wonderful, we walked to Magazine Street quite frequently. Also very close to Uber pickups.

We were two couples enjoying our first visit to New Orleans and Christian was helpful with suggestions about food and activities. The Garden District is gorgeous!

Ok but has some drawbacks

  • 3 of 5

Overall, this property had pluses and minuses. First, the location: it is actually on the fringes of the Garden District in a gentrifying neighborhood. It was easy to walk to nice areas, but the neighborhood immediately surrounding the home was not safe enough to let our teenagers outside on their own. Secondly, the apartment itself had been recently renovated, and some things were great and others were not. The kitchen was very nice and well supplied with dishes etc. It was hard to say the apt. had a 2nd master though. The loft bedroom has no walls, and the upstairs 2nd bath does not have a door. It was ok for our kids, but would be a pain for an adult couple. Also, the loft bathroom has extremely low ceilings. If you are taller than 5 feet tall, don't plan on being upright in the bathroom. Our biggest complaint was that this felt like renting a room in someone else's (crowded) house. The only closet was full of clothes (many of them dirty in a full hamper,) leaving little room for guest's clothes. Many light bulbs were not functional. The owner did not give us an entry code, promising to meet us with entry instructions when we arrived, but then failed to do so, resulting in a lot of confusion when we tried to get in at the agreed-upon check-in time. The units were not properly sound-proofed during renovation, and we were awoken several nights when the partying neighbors arrived home late at night We could hear every word of their conversations from both bedrooms and were kept awake until they went to sleep. Overall, it was a cute place, but for the price we paid, I expected more. For a one-bedroom rental for late-night people who don't mind noise and a bit of mess, this might work just fine.

Owner's Response: The Library is truly a unique residence designed in an historic style, nearly 1600 square feet in size. The building dates back to the late 1800’s and was completely renovated and restored. The photos are all within the past 12 months and are angled to fully represent every room and the unique floor plan. We want our guests to feel they have selected a home that is perfect for their travel needs. Unfortunately, it appears this guest did not review the floor plan or photos. And the guest did not appreciate the amazing location, just one bock to Magazine and surrounded by the historic homes of the Upper and Lower Garden Districts and the Irish Channel. There are photos of the neighboring homes in the listing photos. The home even adjoins the community garden. The guest did not communicate any issues during their stay. The guest did not call to inform of a lightbulb being out, which would have been fixed promptly. For the guest’s arrival, as we do with many guests, they were provided a phone number to call upon arrival and walked into the residence on the phone. They were provided the access code and remained on the phone until they were settled inside. It was not possible to meet this guest on site for their arrival. Also, this guests fails to mention that they did receive a personal visit within 2 hours of check-in to be sure they were comfortable and to address any questions. The guest stated that all is well. These guests were here for New Year’s weekend, an amazing and exciting weekend in NOLA, and the residence is located in a vibrant part of the city. It is unfortunate that this guest did not appreciate the wonderful space and failed to communicate during their stay to give us the opportunity to address any concerns to improve their stay. We look forward to hosting many future guests!

Awesome location & high quality accommodations

  • 5 of 5

The Library was perfect for our Mardi Gras 2017 trip, easy walk to St.Charles for the parades and easy walk to local restaurants & shops. The beds are very comfy & place is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Christian was very hospitable & met us on our arrival with a smile, a king cake and a 6 pack of beer to get MG kicked off the right way! I would highly recommend this place or, after having met with Christian, any of his other properties.
