About Kennedy, Chirstina, Steve, Linda

Hi, my name is Kennedy. My wife and I bought this property because we all love to vacation and we have a large family, all over the world, so we often have visitors or gatherings. It made sense for us to find something that we loved to do and share it with others, who enjoy private, rural waterfront vacations, in a non commercialized environment. We enjoy the rivers, lakes and oceans, in Florida and when we travel we like to have bicycles, kayaks, watercraft, private deck areas, community areas for conversation, and a lot of outdoor space for activities. We have been fortunate because a lot of our 1st time guests invite their friends, and several of our guests make reservations for the entire property or multiple units on their return visits. This is why we strive to make our vacation homes unique, relaxing, private, clean and comfortable, so that others will enjoy year after year. We offer a quality private vacation home experience with the perks of a resort; such as, FREE Wifi (in the common areas and in some of our vacation homes) Bicycles, John Boats, Outdoor Grills, large sun deck, covered bar/game room Resort Style Bedding, Furniture and Decor, along with Award Winning Hospitality. We also rent boats, jet skis and our Houseboat to complete your memorable waterfront vacation in Florida. Because we are an owner operated private vacation home, we take pride in making sure that our guests feel like their stay was better than they expected. We look forward to hosting you one day and hope that you keep Runaway Bay Lodge, in your travel plans. Happy Travels - Kennedy & Christina

Why Kennedy, Chirstina, Steve, Linda chose Seville

This amazing house has water views from every room so you can view amazing wildlife and spectacular sunsets every day! Imagine going to sleep and waking up refreshed to the clear and secluded views of Beautiful Lake George. You deserve it! This is the type of place that you can make memories at and a great place for special occasions or just for a place to take someone special, when you want to go somewhere special!

This is a great vacation home with a long history. With several fresh water springs and an opening to the Atlantic Ocean, through The St Johns River, that goes right through the middle of Lake George is filled with all the best outdoor activities that you could ask for. This is a real Florida vacation! See manatees, Eagles, Deer, Alligators, and all types of birds and fish. Visiting one of the many crystal clear springs for swimming, snorkeling or just to float in the cool 72 degree spring water and hot Florida sunshine, is a favorite pastime for the locals and vacationing boaters and house-boaters. We also have day trips and boat tours designed around what you want to do. This property was originally built in 1934 and was used as a fish and shellfish (Shrimp & Crab) supply house for the passengers and crews on the river ships that used to go up and down the St. Johns River. The Packing, Smoking and Storage was done in what is now the bar/game room area, and the boats would pull up to the building that stood 230 feet off the shore, that was destroyed, in Hurricane Matthew, and is now the location of our most sought after lodging, our 2 stateroom houseboat, permanently docked at our private home port, where the boathouse used to be.

What makes this house unique

If you want a vacation that won't leave you stressed out and needing a vacation, this is the place to slow down, enjoy nature, relax, take great selfies and enjoy our 13 months of sunshine celebration with spectacular sunsets every night. The picturesque landscape at sunset is even more awesome that the Disney fireworks show!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our 2nd trip here in 2 months and we love it!! Our first trip we were only here 4 days, this trip we stayed 10 and wished for more time! Kennedy and Christina are great hosts and made sure (both visits) that we were taken care of! Words cannot describe this place and the pictures online do not do it justice! Quiet, relaxing, and plenty to do! We love Runaway Bay! We will be back SOON!

Most relaxing vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

The best part of Runaway Bay is the peaceful relaxing atmosphere!! We came back for our 2nd visit in 3 months and stayed in the 2Br house and the Houseboat. The 2Br house sits right on the water with an awesome back porch. One bedroom has a deck which opens up to the water - you can fish from your bed if you wanted to! The Houseboat is awesome and fun! We loved sleeping and fishing off the boat. We had family come for part of our stay and we had 7 people on the boat and there was plenty of room for everyone! Both rentals have everything you need! Kitchens are well supplied with everything except the food. The owners Kennedy and Christina are the nicest, most accommodating, and generous people we have ever met! They will do everything possible to make your stay most enjoyable and are quick to respond to phone calls or messages. We spent a lot of time hanging out in The Bar (we called it the clubhouse). There is something for everyone here - tv, games, playstation (ugggg), MUSIC (yay!), corn hole, croquet, bikes, kayaks, canoe, john boats, etc. If you get a chance, rent one of their boats and take a tour around Lake George to fish, or visit one of the several springs. Another bonus is that they allow pets!

We had our dog Tucker on this trip and it didn't take him long to become the keeper of the houseboat! This is a vacation rental that we will come back to again and again!!

Loved our stay!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed in the two bedroom cabin and loved the peacefulness, scenery, and area in which this cabin is located. We had a wonderful Christmas break away from everyday hectic life and college. Would definitely come back again and recommend.

Thank you Kennedy!

Beware advertised propety is used for Bait and Switch

  • 1 of 5

Kennedy the owner performed what I perceive as a Bait and Switch. This property had been advertised with pictures of a cottage on the water with 2 bedrooms containing queen size bedding and resort like bedding, 1 spacious bathroom with luxury linens, a screened in back porch over the water and tiki bar type area. The property advertised many amenities including fireplace, internet, satellite/cable and gas grill which were false. Unfortunately, upon arrival this property had been occupied and we were put into a different property down the road. When we arrived at the spontaneously appointed property we were disappointed with the difference from the pictures, however, my uncle is ill and the drive alone really wore him out so we reluctantly accepted. Our only real requests to accommodate our reluctance was to fix the broken toilet seat and make sure we had a john boat as I had previously inquired about in April. Kennedy stated he would be back shortly with both requests. He finally brought a john boat at sundown but not the toilet seat till the next day. So now the situation is we are in a residence consisting of 2 efficiencies opened up to be considered 2 bedrooms. The bathrooms were very small bathrooms (1 with broken toilet seat) instead of one roomy bathroom full of luxuries linens as advertised. We decided to attempt to make the best of situation and watch television together when we found out that the small TV had no satellite/cable as advertised. In fact it was a ROKU Tv, however; this property had no WIFI as advertised so this did no good. We began to scrounge up old VHS/DVD because there was a player there. In Florida, June is rainy season so with no screened patio as advertised we had to stay indoors by each afternoon so no satellite/cable or internet became a hindrance. In addition, we found an old small charcoal grill instead of nice large gas grill as advertised. you will find that the advertised property .... on VRBO's website is false advertisement. The owner does have this property, however; he is not truthful as to what you will be renting. Fact is the advertised property is decent, however, it also is not in as nice of shape as the pictures illustrate. Kennedy utilizes these nice pictures to lure you to this remote place that has nothing near for over an hour so he has the upper hand and

Owner's Response: We do not advertise as the guest stated. What you see is what you get. However, our location is remote, but that's a large part of the reason people come here and part of the reason why over 50% of our Florida visitors come back to Runaway Bay. Since this we have placed a long term tenant in the property that this guest stayed in and until further notice we only offer The Romantic Waterfront 2 Bedroom and The Economy Waterfront Suite and both are exactly as pictured. Follow up: After over 6 months of investigation, American Express and VRBO/Home Away agreed that the waterfront vacation home that the guest received was comparable or superior in size, amenities and location (only 3 doors away), to the home that she requested and that the guests complaints were invalid. The money that was on hold by American Express was released to me; and, I received a letter from VRBO/Home Away notifying me that the the funds that were on hold were being deposited into my account. We are happy to provide clean, comfortable waterfront vacation homes to all of our guests. Our vacation homes are photographed using a mobile phone and are a good representation of what the homes will look like when you arrive. We do have WiFi in both the 2 bedroom and the studio, as well as in the tiki bar and sundecks. We use Roku TV's to get streaming tv through The Pluto TV app. We also have access to local NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and many other over the air stations. We are a rural location and promote a "Glamping (Glamorous Camping) Experience" in a rural Old Florida Waterfront setting with all modern conveniences of home. Our guests always receive their vacation home with freshly laundered linens (including the comforters) and towels, toilet paper, paper towels, kayaks, john boats and coffee. We also have private boat tours, guided fishing tours, airboat rides and boat rentals AND we welcome special requests and offer amazing custom cakes, desserts and catering upon request!!!

An Awesome place to stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this great vacation rental! We could not have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate, relax and enjoy some quiet time together!! The owners are great and very accommodating! They took good care of us, leaving me fresh chocolate dipped strawberries with champagne for my birthday and for our special celebration! Kennedy stayed in touch with us and was quick to respond if we had a question. He even let us check in a day early and offered to let us extend our check out time so we could enjoy our time there even longer!

The entire experience was one of the BEST we have ever experienced! We had the entire place to our selves and it was quiet and peaceful. The house was clean and had everything we needed! It looks out right over the water and we spent every night fishing from the back deck or out on the dock! I loved the private bar area, which is where we spent the evenings eating dinner, enjoying a few drinks and listening to the radio. There were games, books, a play station and TV, not to mention several bikes, kayaks and a john boat for us to use! We were there for 4 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer! I will be back again this summer for longer stay! If you are looking for a vacation away from it all, but has all you need... No need to look any further!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Debbie, for your kind review! Most people only take the time to write a review when they have had a bad experience. It was a pleasure to have you stay at our vacation home, Runaway Bay Lodge. We hope that you come back and see us again this summer, or any time that you can! You guys were great guests and thank you for leaving the home so clean. We could hardly tell that you were there. We look forward to your next visit! Sincere best wishes to you both!
