This elegant two bedroom two and a half bathroom house is located in the lovely village of Monteleone D'orvieto in Umbria, Italy. It dates back to the 15th Century and is perfectly placed between Rome and Florence for the best sightseeing in Umbria and Tuscany. The beautifully furnished living room is on the ground floor with a guest bathroom and laundry room. On the next floor is the dining room that seats six and a brand new fully equipped kitchen. Above that is the guest bedroom with en-suite full bathroom. On the last floor is the master wing with en-suite bathroom and a fabulous view of the surrounding countryside. The floors are connected via a spiral staircase.
There is a 42 inch flat screen TV in the living room and another in the master bedroom. We have Sky satellite reception on both televisions with programs and films in their original language. Should you wish we have a maid to clean for you whenever you like.
The charming village has one of the smallest theaters in Italy and it is an absolute jewel. The village has a bank, two restaurants, two cafes, a grocery store, one butcher, a clothes shop and a newspaper and general supply store. Once a week there is an outdoor market with vegetables and fruits, clothes and linens. Plus a fresh fish truck that comes every Wednesday from the Tuscan Coast.
On August the 16th every year the village has it's own Pablio, a medieval celebration. The villagers get dressed up in their beautiful medieval costumes and there is a jousting tournament with horses and their riders. At the end there is a big fireworks display, it is not to be missed as it is such a colorful and special celebration. It attracts people from all over the region. In fact from the 8th of August till the day of the Palio there is a lively fair on the Main Street selling crafts made by artisans from the region. As well as a festival of Umbrichelli a handmade pasta made by the villagers served with a variety of sauces and other accompaniments like meat, salads and desserts. You eat at long tables set up in tents it is a very jovial and happy event that lasts a week. All summer there are festivals and fairs that are great to see how life is celebrated in this really special region of Italy.
