Why Dori Hegi chose St Marys
This property is 35 minutes from downtown Jacksonville, 25 minutes from the Jacksonville airport, and 70 minutes south of from Savannah.
What makes this Guest House unique
We are a bit different from some of the other VRBO's in that we are truly on the water, yet a bike ride from the down town Historic St Marys waterfront. Both bedrooms have a water view where you will view incredible sunrises and sunsets. Depending on the time of year, you can see dolphin, manatee, otter, deer and an array of incredible birds. It is truly a little piece of paradise.

Charming apartment, beautiful setting, lovely hosts
We couldn't have asked for a finer place to stay. The apartment's fabulous and the location's great—we went to Cumberland Island one day, St. Augustine the next. Crooked River State Park was a short drive and St. Marys is a lovely town, fun to explore. In the afternoons, we sat on the patio, gazed out at St. Marys River, and did some birdwatching: a great pleasure. Our hosts were welcoming and warm. We hope to come again!
the home was fantastic
The property had all ammenaties one could ask for, the owners are friendly and helpful ,We will more than likely return.
Peaceful Retreat, Super Owners
Stayed here for 4 nights with my wife. Lovely quiet location on the river. Owners live on site and couldn't be more helpful. The apartment has almost everything you might need so check what is there before heading for the supermarket. Will stay here again when next in the area.
beautiful peaceful setting on the marsh
the accommodations and the Hegi's were the very best we have encountered. we had the ground floor of a new two story coastal property. there are 2 large bedrooms , a well appointed galley kitchen, dining area and a very comfortable living area. the view on the marsh was almost 180 degrees. the wild life abounds.
Fabulous Vacation on the Georgia Coast
We had such a wonderful time staying at the Hegis' beautiful home on the St. Mary's river. The pictures are lovely but the home and the setting are even better! The lower level apartment is lovely. The interior is beautifully decorated but comfortable and relaxed and has everything you could possibly need. The patio overlooking the river is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the amazing view. My children and I enjoyed our mornings overlooking the river and watching and listening to the birds and watching the tide come in and go out. We even saw a bald eagle overhead one morning. Another morning we watched as two dolphins swam up the river. Really it was a magical location and we could have spent our whole vacation just there, but there were too many other wonderful places to check out. It was easy to take the ferry over to Cumberland Island one day. Another day we went over to Jekyll Island and checked out the Sea Turtle Center. Another day we ventured over to Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island and explored the old fort and the beach. The Hegis were wonderful hosts and very attentive to anything we needed. Really, it was a magical vacation. We can't wait to go back.
