We had been visiting Vancouver Island on vacations for many years. In 2000, we vacationed in Sooke and never forgot it - the beauty of the forest trails and the spectacular sunsets over the ocean stayed with us, so when the opportunity arose to purchase a place in the area, we took it! We come out here as often as we can.

Why Owner chose Sooke
We fell in love with this wonderful little cottage for many reasons... but perhaps the easiest way to explain it is that we love it so much because of the feeling of peace it brings us. The setting is so quiet, so serene... one of our very favourite things is watching the birds from the living room or out on the deck. Starlings swoop towards us, hummingbirds flit around and overhead, all sorts of songbirds flutter around us, and sometimes we are even treated to an eagle landing on one of the trees in front of the deck! Because the cottage is up on the hill, we see the birds at eye-level - it's one of the things we love most! When we're here, we feel wrapped in nature. The trees surround us and most often, the only things we hear are bird calls. On a clear night, we look up at the amazing display of stars... in the mornings, we watch the mist lift to reveal a stunning sunrise and start of another lovely day on the island. Come see what it's all about! +1. 250 .483. 6969

Fantastic East Sooke Cottage on the water
This is a wonderful cottage. My wife and I were visiting BC for the first time and came across this rental. The property and home are both gorgeous. Our only real comment is that the pictures don't adequately display the beauty of the property. The home is simple, but that's what we were looking for on this trip. It was well kept, and clean. The path down to the water is incredible as it zigzags to the shore. We really enjoyed watching the crabs and starfish. Totally cool for us inlanders. The home is a perfect base for some really cool adventures in the area. We caught a limit of halibut with Good Time Dave who runs charters close to the cottage. We did a ton of hiking and exploring and got to see the unique natural features of this area. Highly recommended. I also really like the owners' responsiveness in booking and even after our stay. We didn't have any issues, but it's nice to know they are available and super helpful if you need something.
Great little house close to lots of nature
Stayed over the Labour Day long weekend at this little house with the whole family and it was so relaxing!
Besides the great view out the back windows (house is on a bluff) of the bay, there's an easy drive to parks with great oceanside hiking. As well, the house is fully equipped (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, bbq, washer/dryer, etc.) and make sure either to bring some supplies or buy them on the way in or at the nearby town.
Furnishings are very comfortable and there's room to spread out in the house on all three floors. Bonus: linen and towels are as good as you'd find in a decent hotel. Remember to bring your own toiletries!
Though there's some supplied rod and reels, make sure to bring your own tackle and other necessities (e.g., crab traps) if you want to try your luck off the dock -- we did and had a couple of days of crab for dinner!
Clear directions and instructions were provided by email and the guest handbook had some helpful hints and some (commonsense) rules for the stay.
Finally, this place allows pets and our dog had a blast hiking with us and exploring up and down from the house to the dock.
Everybody had something they loved about this place -- great for kids and adults and their furry friends who just want to get away!
Thanks for the review! It's such a lovely spot for nature lovers and for people with pets too (lots of adorable doggies have visited)... there are so many great parks, walking and hiking trails, and scenic viewpoints. Glad you enjoyed your trip, and we hope to see you again sometime.
Private dock on cottage property. Perfect for launching your kayak!
