About Debbie Wayland
Our family grew up in Richmond, Virginia and relocated to the Eastern Shore almost ten years ago. Settling in Bethany Beach, Delaware, we have raised one beautiful daughter who is now moving in to attend a college in North Carolina.
Debbie Wayland purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Debbie Wayland chose Onancock
We knew we wanted to purchase a vacation home in the Onancock area the first time we drove through the quaint little town. Settling on our "Oyster House" made my Husband and I very happy knowing the area charm and beautiful bay awaited us. We now use the house as much as possible, enjoying the time we have left with our daughter as she embraces a new milestone in her life. Whether Kayaking, riding bikes, or just reading a book while watching the sunset, we are making memories as a family as we hope you will.

Adorable, quiet neighborhood!
We loved the well-stocked kitchen, the 2 full baths, laundry, great upstairs deck and quiet, sweet neighborhood. While the weather wasn't ideal, we had a great time walking around, riding bikes, walking to the private beach and driving to Chincoteague. Debbie was quick to respond to any communication and we will definitely come back in the future! We brought our 3 sons-11, 8 and 5 who had a great time kayaking, fishing and playing in the water.
The pet friendly house was perfect for our needs!
We loved this place! The views of the water from the yard and especially from the rooftop deck were gorgeous! There was a very comfortable sectional on the rooftop as well as a large table; great for watching the sunsets each night. The home itself is across from the private beach and within walking distance to the marina. It was a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The furnishings inside were very comfortable, right down to the brand new sectional in the living room. The eating area accommodated 6 people with a high top table and 4 stools and 2 stools for counter seating. The kitchen was very well equipped, with more than enough plates, glassware, and cooking utensils so that we weren't having to wash dishes every night. There were also common spices, and pots and pans. It was very clean, and I never once took anything out of a cabinet or drawer that was dirty looking. Having two bathrooms, and a washer/dryer, as well as a three season room were big pluses. We had two small dogs and would sit out in the yard with them and soak up the view and the smell of the pines. The house came with a double kayak, as well as life jackets and beach chairs, so it was less we had to pack! The Waylands were very responsive to any questions we had, and made us feel very welcome in their home. We hope to be back!
Nice house. Cute beach. Good crabbing. Ok fishing. Tasty seafood at Great Machipongo Clam Shack.
Will return next year.
Great house to spend a week on the eastern shore!
The house was very clean and roomy for our family! The neighbors are really friendly . Really enjoyed the sunrises on one side of the house and sunsets on the other. The upper deck is a great space to sit and listen to the amazing songs of the birds every morning. The owners were easy to work with and gave us easy access and privacy.
Nice house away from it all. Quiet area. Comfortable. Our only concern was the water...the owner warned us that it may taste funny. We did notice some "grit" in the tap water, but the owner provides filtered water so that was fine. We also bought bottled water, as we are used to "city"water. There is also a water softener.
We spent 3 days exploring the entire Easter shore of VA. This was a good home base. If you want a great breakfast, eat at Janet's in Onancok!
