Spacious home close to Waimea town
An older home with a historic charm. We had a great stay! Loved the spacious rooms, spacious kitchen, and all of the little activities to do (puzzles and board games galore). The yard is also well maintained and beautiful! Thank you Rose for the smooth check in process and the quick responses. Appreciated the little reminders around the house too! :)
Felt like home, very comfortable from the time you move in. We have stayed in Waimea before and enjoy the warm days and cooler nights (low 60s and upper 50s). Easy access to beaches, Parker Ranch, farmers markets and the northern portion of the island. A nice quiet cul de sac. Merriman's Big Island Restaurant is a must for a menu of local foods.
Great for young children
1-yr old granddaughters eyes said "this is my kinda place" when we walked in greeted by very large stuffed dog and box of toys. Large yard and play house were also a hit.
Charming, nice place for adults too. Off the road and quiet. Comfortable living/family room with lots of character. Well stocked kitchen. No dishwasher but not a problem.
Totally enjoyed the residence very comfortable and spacious. The family enjoyed the kitchen and having the ramp for the wheelchair. Bedrooms were very roomy with comfortable beds
Pleasantly funky family home!
We enjoyed our stay at Rose Mae's place. It was comfortably laid out for us, and we enjoyed the charm of her older home. It was very convenient to town, and on the dry side too (so not too cold at night). Rose Mae was very responsive and helpful when we had questions.
First of all, we love Waimea, and to have to the opportunity to stay there was amazing! So convenient to everything. Will be visiting Waimea again soon!
The town of Waimea (Kamuela is the Post Office town address) is located at the 2500' elevation and is nestled between the majestic mountain, Mauna Kea, and on the slopes of the Kohala Mountains. Waimea is the site of the one time largest cattle ranch, Parker Ranch, owned by a single owner. Waimea houses 2 shopping centers and provides walking accessibility around town which now boasts many vegetable farms. There are 3 awesome Farmers Markets available on weekends. There are choices of Pacific Rim cuisine, Chinese, local, Italian, Japanese, ... dining facilities as well as fast food places. A highlight is the North Hawaii Community Hospital, & medical facilities. Waimea is centrally located between the larger towns of Kailua-Kona and Hilo. The Big Island is also known for its uniqueness as one can drive down to white sand beaches, up to the snow on the highest mountain, and get up close to an active volcano.
