Beautiful, modern, cozy, new, all for you, on Cortland Ave in the heart of SF's idyllic Bernal Heights. Ideal for couple, efficient for couple plus 2 kids. Beautiful tiled bathroom, shower, and soaking tub, Japanese-touch bedrooms, and a kitchenette. Quaint shops, great restaurants, hills for hikes, four parks within five minutes walk, and a diverse neighborhood of friendly folks. Bedroom #1 has a full bed plus a single bed in Japanese capsule style which I love. Bedroom #2 has one full bed plus a foam sofabed. The tiny living "room" has a chaise lounge that converts to a single bed. A Japanese rock garden and design elements help relax you after a busy sightseeing day. It is small and efficient - the space used to be our basement so we have worked hard to give it a light feel, with creative elements so that even though there are no windows it seems like there are! We're on Cortland Avenue with its delightful small shops - everything you need is steps away. Parking is free and relatively easy - never more than 2 blocks walk. Many transportation options: carshare vehicles are 1/2 block away, Lyft and Uber are prolific, and the 24 bus passes our place with stops steps away. Easy access both to downtown and SFO.

About Bill Shireman and Aileen Ichikawa
We are a family of four (the two adults on the right plus our 9-year-old twins) who love SF and live right next to your apartment here. Mom is a former tech sector executive and dad runs a non-profit, Future 500, dedicated to bringing together political enemies - lots of work on our plate, as you might imagine. Our little zen apartment is also our escape and creative work area, when we are not hosting others.

Why Bill Shireman and Aileen Ichikawa chose Bernal Heights
Bernal Heights is one of SF's friendliest and quaintest communities. It's a great location - close to downtown, the airport, parks, sites. If you want to focus on Fisherman's wharf or the Marina, we are a little distant, so base yourself on the other side of town.
What makes this Apartment unique

Clean, cozy little space
Bill and Aileen were exceptional hosts that made us feel well taken care of. They had a wealth of information and suggestions for us on our vacation, highly recommend!
Great space for travelers that are looking for a convenient space to lay their heads while traveling. We enjoyed our time in Bernal Heights, with lots of awesome restaurants and a great coffee shop a few doors down.
The property was good value for money. It was simple & modern and the public transport was great!
Although the property is small it was perfect for our family of four. The kitchen is good for simple meals with a small fridge and hot plate. There was a lovely electric fire and adequate heating for winter. Well situated to public transport to get to city centre and main attractions. Hosts provided a family pass to the Academy of Sciences which was a pleasant surprise and a beautiful family adventure. Negatives: There isn’t a washing machine, although there is a nearby laundry mat. The place is very compact and doesn’t have any windows. You can hear noise from the upstairs nail salon, but as we were out during the day this was only heard in the morning when they were setting up. The bed in the main room is actually a lounge with a matterace on top and NOT an ensemble bed. Suitable for a short stay but the bed isn’t that comfortable. Although the place was clean, it was dusty. Host was very friendly with excellent communication. We had a pleasant stay here for 4 nights.
We spent 4 great nights at Bernal Heights. Accommodation was perfectly as described, and our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We will look to stay here again when visiting SF.
Very clean and spacious! Loved the area it was located in!
The area where the house is located is sooo cute! So much to eat you almost don't need to go into the city. The look out over the city was an unexpected surprise that made me very happy! The room was clean and had more than enough room for the 4 of us. My only warning is that if you like to sleep in that may be difficult because you can hear the nail salon from upstairs. This was not a big deal with us because we were out exploring most of the day but something to keep in mind. The owners are sweet and more than willing to to help if needed. We would stay here again!
Hello, Bernal Heights was an adorable neighborhood to stay in and we enjoyed the apartment i
Bill was a wonderful landlord the lodging was very comfortable and well worth the price. The bathroom shower head is quite low so if you need to wash your hair, you need to bend down, but everything else was incredibly comfortable. The artwork and design of the place was adorable. The location to SF is awesome without all the high prices and craziness of the city. Bernal Heights was a sweet little neighborhood. I would stay here again.
