About The Owner

My wife and I always took day trips to Cape May when we were younger and needed to just get away from it all if only for a few hours. We used to walk the streets with our Golden Retrievers looking at the nice houses and dreamed that one day we might be able to afford one to call our own. Then in 2001 we had an opportunity to stretch out for the brass ring and we went for it! We now love to have summer guests share our home and that same appreciation of all that Cape May offers. Best of all we love that we have made our home dog-friendly so that the entire family can vacation together. Thank you for looking at our site and we hope you get the opportunity to stay with us in the future. John & Diane

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Cape May

Great quiet neighborhood, short distance to walk or ride bike to beautiful beach or into town. Wireless Internet, Central A/C, dog friendly, private fenced yard with deck and gas grille, free use of bikes and beach tags with house rental. Beach box with umbrella and chairs!

What makes this house unique

Great town, dog-friendly home, clean and updated with beach decor', central air, bath towels and bed linens provided, wireless internet, private back yard with deck, park the car and walk or ride bike everywhere, great beach with beach umbrella and beach tags provided, outstanding restaurants, awesome local Cape May Zoo, lighthouse, sunsets, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have stayed several times at this home for our summer vacation and always find it enjoyable. The home is always clean and the inside beach decor' just puts you in a relaxed mood. The kitchen in this house is great with all the supplies and even a Kurig coffee maker. It is only a short walk to the beach and the owners have a box there with chairs and unbrella which is very nice. We stay here so we can bring our dog with us since he is a family member, no kennels for our pup! We will continue to stay here because we love Cape May and the house is very nice at a reasonable price.

Lovely Cape May Beach House

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home has so much Cape May charm. It's bright, sunny, clean, and comfy. It was a quick walk to the beach and a beautiful neighbor for dog walking. The rooms were bright and airy, appliances and mattresses were like new. We had a wonderful time and the weather was great. The owners were great to work with.

Bright, Clean, Easy and Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we set foot inside the house, we were relaxed and on vacation. The home was spotless (as clean as the cleanest "no pets allowed" places we've stayed), bright and airy and well-appointed. We brought three kids and a golden retriever with us and everyone immediately found their spot to relax and play. The heart of the house, the kitchen, is spacious and contained everything we needed to prepare meals for five. The deck is a lovely place for adults to unwind (and listen to the waves in the evening) and the yard perfectly contained the kid/dog activity. The walk to the beach is an easy 7-10 minutes through a quiet neighborhood and the street has a wonderful park-like median adding to the charm. Having the beach box means that all you need to bring on the walk to the beach are towels and snacks (a minor miracle with three kids in tow)! All of the amenities made moving in for the week a breeze. The owners are very responsive and obviously take great pride in this treasure of a home!

Best Kept Secret in Cape May....and Dog Friendly!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting a pet friendly home in Cape May and we did extensive research on dog friendly properties in CM before finding this hidden gem of a home! We vacationed in CM for many years and decided this was the year our family pet would join us. John and Diane are extremely welcoming and there were so many nice personalized touches when we arrived. The home is perfect, very clean and well maintained. Do not let the outside front fool you. There is PLENTY of space inside and out back for the entire family to enjoy. It was a great layout, the kids enjoyed their own TV viewing area and playing outside in the yard. My favorite spot was the front porch and unwinding with a book after a long day at the beach. My husband loved the Family Room closest to the bedrooms, it was here that we would spend many hours just talking about what a great location and home it was. The walk to the beach was our only concern before we arrived in CM, we have two children ages 4 and 8 and we weren’t quite sure how the walk would be. The walk was a non issue and I honestly think the children loved the short stroll each day as we had moments to reflect on what a great vacation we all were having. We always packed a lunch and made use of the public rest rooms at the beach entrance. We LOVED the umbrella and chair service provided at the beach, it was great to get to know the employees who worked there as they setup our spot for the day. The house is located not far from the “downtown” area. Having little kids we would drive down when needed. However, on date nights with the hubby we utilized the bikes in the shed and loved how easy it was to get around. LOVED the bikes, and yet another great addition that not many other properties provide. The location is great, not much traffic, tons of parking on the street if needed and we felt safe enough to allow our 8 year old to ride her bike up and down the street as we sat on the porch. Our 4 legged child had the time of her life and joined us on many of our family outings….from Happy Hour at the Rusty Nail to Sunday Night’s at Aleathea’s on the front lawn. She also enjoyed her daily walks and Higgbee Beach, she was a happy dog “for shore”!!! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need, the house also provides more linens and towels then you could imagine…. another added bonus that not all properties provide. Can not wait to return!!!

Pictures Don't Do This Home Justice. Two and Four Legged Visitors Will Love It.

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a pet friendly home for our Cape May vacation and we were not disappointed. In fact, the pictures of this home on the website do not do it justice. From the outside, it looks small, but inside is very spacious, beautifully decorated, and well maintained. You open the door into this huge open area where there is a table that can easily seat 10. This is where I found a handwritten card from the owner telling us to enjoy our stay and to also enjoy the French apple pie and Jersey tomatoes in the fridge. Nice Touch!!! A living room with lots of seating is just off this room and there is a very large kitchen with a table that seat 3-4 easily. Kitchen is also fully equipped with double oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. At the back of the home is a very comfortable family room with a 55 inch flat screen. This is the PERFECT place for this room since all the bedrooms are at the front of the house. Kids can watch TV or movies, play video games, or whatever and never disturb anyone. Off the family room is a large deck with seating for 6 and extra chairs with a propane BBQ grill which we used often. An extra propane tank was there as well. The back yard is completely fenced in with wire fencing around all the nooks and crannies (under steps, at the bottom of the fence, etc.). Our goldens didn't need this but small dogs would be very safe in this back yard. The three bedrooms were beautifully decorated with bed linens that matched the color scheme of the room. The master bedroom was huge with a king bed and it's own bathroom and plenty of room in the dressers and closets. The owners also provided a beach cart with 4 beach chairs, two umbrellas, a small cooler and even beach toys. They also provided a beach umbrella service so we had a very large umbrella set up for us each day from a vendor on the beach at no charge. And don't forget the bikes in the small shed out back. There is even a pooper scooper and bucket for cleaning up the messes. Oh, and don't think because this is a pet friendly home it smells like old dog. It was remarkably fresh and clean. Friends staying in Cape May that week remarked they never would have guessed dogs were ever in this house.

The house is about 5 short blocks to the beach so you need to prepare for that. However, there is a public bathroom right at the beach entrance. You won't have to go back to the house all day if you pack a lunch.

It was a WONDERFUL week in Cape May.

Owner's Response: Bob, Thank you so much for the kind words regarding our Cape May home. We have the philosophy that a great vacation starts with a clean house so we work very hard to maintain and clean everything. We could not imagine going on vacation without our four legged family members and we are glad that you could bring yours along. You were such a pleasure to host and we hope to host you again in the future.....thanks again! John & Diane

Comfortable, clean, quiet, well-equipped and dog friendly!

  • 5 of 5

If you enjoy Cape May, this is one of the best places to stay. You can really spread out and relax in this spacious home. We've stayed in many places, but this is definitely above and beyond the others. The property was clean and well-maintained, with very up-to-date appliances and a fully equipped kitchen. I traveled with my two elderly parents and the single floor access was perfect for them. There are two bathrooms that make this property good for two couples traveling together or families with children. I also brought along dog companionship and the fenced in yard is especially nice for this in that there is even chicken wire to keep even a small dog from digging out and its equipped with a pooper scooper and covered bucket for easy clean-up.

The listing for the house was accurate with descriptive pictures. The owners are good to work with and answered questions and concerns quickly. They were understanding of a mistake we made when putting out the recycling.

The property has a large family room and living room, each equipped with a TV and DVD player so that people who don't agree on the same entertainment can relax separately. The wireless internet is also great and easy to access when you need to work on a laptop or connect your kindle.

Even off season, this is a great place to relax in that there is still a beach to walk, airport museum, and birding trips by boat. And of course, the shops and restaurants are still great. I could see a family getting together at this house close to a holiday in that it is well-stocked with dishes, with plenty of space.

The quiet neighborhood in which this property is located makes it ideal for people with a dog in that you can walk around without a lot of noise, traffic and running into other dogs. It's also much safer than being on a busy street in town. We had a lunch at downtown Mad Batter and the noise of the foot-traffic, cars, and trucks coming and going as we ate was pretty stricking in comparison. In addition, my elderly parents could relax and nap without the noise factor. There are also nice laundry facilities and that's a big plus as well.

Don't miss the airport museum (a display on the Boats of 9/11 is presently there), the light house, Cape May Point and the Osprey birding boat on your trip to Cape May. And, just try to relax. That's the tough part.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a week at this lovely home four blocks from the beach. It was very comfortable, spacious, and well-appointed. The deck and fenced-in yard was our hangout of choice.

Our dog was happy with the yard and large crate provided. We recommend this rental to families too, since it has three bedrooms and large eating areas. It's a winner!
