What a special place!

  • 5 of 5

This house is absolutely amazing. We were a little concerned about Peggy's Cove being such a touristy spot, but the location really lets you enjoy the beauty of the cove without having tourists close to you. And once they leave in the evening, the cutest town in Nova Scotia is all yours. Amazing views, super clean and neat and the interior of the house is mind blowing. Rolf lives on the lot and is super nice and helpful. We would come back for sure!

Lovely antique home!

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay at Rolf's beautiful historical home with beautiful views of the ocean, Peggy's Cove and Lighthouse, and both sunrise and sunset! Beds were very comfortable, and it was so relaxing being able to hear the waves and surf at night. We would highly recommend a wonderful vacation there!

The location of Peggy's Cove cottage is spectacular. The house has a historic feel that one usually gets to peer at from behind a velvet rope, yet you are actually living within the walls. Rolf, the owner, met us at the house and was very hospitable.

I would definitely rent here again. It was a perfect way to end our trip to Nova Scotia.

Old world escape...

  • 4 of 5

This heritage house is charming and perfectly located with a stellar view... you certainly see the tourists from the deck making their pilgrimages to the light house but they are all on the opposite side of the cove. Rolf, the host is very personable and accommodating. Sunrise and sunsets are a beautiful time of day at this old world retreat.

Beautiful historic cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage. It was very comfortable. Comfortable beds, quiet nights, beautiful views. We stopped at pete's fine foods on our way from the halifax airport to stock up on supplies. There is a convenience store up the road with some groceries and beer and wine. Dinner at Rhubarb was really good. The light house is amazing, and all the locals we met were friendly.

Very Interesting Place

  • 4 of 5

I was confused because from the picture I thought we were staying in the red building on the water and not the white house on the hill. As it turned out, the actual house had a much better view from all directions and we got great sunsets so this was a positive. Staying in a 200 year old house is an experience and we enjoyed all the old antiques. Our only complaint was the hot plate in place of the stove, but we used the 4 burner gas grill so that was not a problem. We used the double bed downstairs instead of the king bed upstairs because the bathroom is down stairs and no way are 2 seventy year olds going to climb up and down those stairs to go to the bathroom. Rolf was great and helpful with suggestions on where to get wine and ice. There is a NSLC agent a mile away for any alcoholic beverages you might need along with ice and a few food essentials. Otherwise shop at a Sobey's in Halifax before you get to the cottage.

You are away from the tourist crowds but you have the advantage on sitting on the deck and watching them climb all over the lighthouse. Our suggestion is that you walk over to the lighthouse early before all the tour busses get there and unload their people. We were there in September and there were still a lot of tourists crawling all over the rocks and the lighthouse. It was actually fun to sit on the deck with a glass of wine and a pair of binoculars and watch the action.

I would recommend this place. It's out of the way but an easy drive to Halifax to catch all of the sights there. One suggestion is to print off Rolf's instructions before hand because until you hook up to the cottage's WiFi (which is excellent and very fast) you don't have Internet to access HomeWay to read the instructions.
