About the property

Oceanfront Private 1 BR Home In Kapoho Vacationland. Endless Ocean Views!

LOCATION, LOCATION LOCATION!!! It just doesn't get any better than this! Hale Hui oceanfront cottage is located in the highly desirable sunny Kapoho area where you literally walk out and into one of the most perfect and pristine protected swimming coves adjacent to the WaiOpae Marine Tidepools Marine Sanctuary and the mighty Pacific!

Hale Hui is a sweet 1 bedroom, 2 bath cottage with a large oceanfront lanai and that makes it the perfect piece of paradise that is absolutely the place to be for your relaxing Hawaiian vacation! There is additional sleeping on a foldout futon sofa in the living room and if you want to sleep outdoors, there is another futon on the oceanfront covered lanai. Fall asleep looking at the star filled skies and listening to the incredible ocean. During whale season, listen for whale song!

This protected cove is the perfect place to snorkel. It's almost like having your own private aquarium right at your doorstep! The coral and fish viewing is incredible and watch out, you may come face to face with a green sea turtle! Enjoy the beautiful sunrises as they come up and over the ocean and flood Hale Hui, the Oceanfront Cottage with the beginning of another beautiful day.

The oceanfront ottage has a large lanai that you'll want to 'live' and dine on. As you can see from the photos, there's an ocean cove view from either direction. Let's say this again: The ocean views from this cottage are THE BEST! If you absolutely have to watch television in paradise, there is DISH Satellite at the cottage along with a DVD player. There is a local phone available and a washer, however, mother nature takes care of the drying for you! It's reported that the cleanest air on the planet is right here in Kapoho!

So, if your idea of vacation is to surround yourself with incredible ocean beauty and truly just relax, then this is definitely the place to be! You're NOT going to want to go back home!

Guestbook comments from the manager

The view is priceless! I could spend the entire day pretty much everyday just looking out from the lanai. Snorkeling is great and so convenient, as it's litereally steps away. The place itself is efficient for a couple or even a small group of 3. Nothing super fancy but still nice. Everything you would need. I would suggest grocery shopping to cook and/or bringing back takeout enough for a few meals. It's about 20 minutes from Pahoa town center, which is a very small but cute town in itself. Not hard to access at all and the drive in and out is actually kind of nice. Minimize the amount of travel time back and forth from town or other activities though. If you like to snorkel, relax on a lanai with a gorgeous view, or just carefully trek over the lava rocks all the way out to the ocean, this would be the perfect place.

This is a sweet spot. We had 3 nights and did not want to leave and explore the Island. Best place I have ever stayed, end of story!

Most relaxing vacation ever.

The house is perfect for couples who just want to get away from it all. We were impressed from the moment we arrived to see all the amenities. It had everything we needed and more. The snorkeling right outside the lanai is amazing. I would recommend a GoPro full face snorkel with your GoPro attached because you never know what you are going to see. We swam with many fish, eels, and sea turtles. When we weren’t snorkeling, we were spending time on the lanai with dish network tuned in to the Hawaiian music channel. The house also has very good WiFi for sharing all your beautiful pictures. I will definitely be back ASAP. Probably next Christmas. Hint: you might want to come to the house before going shopping so you don’t spend money on something that is already there.

We rented a cottage, its as advertised. One thing I should have looked more closely at was the there was no AC, I thought it was going to be an issue, but it really wasn't the fans in the house kept the house cool enough during the day, though I should state that it was a mostly cloudy week so I can't tell what it would be like if you run into Mostly sunny days, At night it cooled down comfortably enough that AC was not needed with the fans and windows open.

As stated in the rental, its a jungle where your at, so bugs are going to be an issue, saw very few of the jungle roaches, but wow on the red and black bugs at night, if you have your light on in the kitchen/living room leave the glass doors to the deck shut do not go out that way at night, use the main entry way to get on the deck, else you will have a house full of them bugs, they go for light. Also leave the gecko's alone in the house they are your best friends in regards to any bugs that get in the house.

Now for the information needed to decide for yourself, if you want beautiful views wonderful access to water for snorkeling a well appointed "Cottage", then I would recommend this place. Just remember you are staying in a Jungle cottage, not a 5 star hotel resort!

Kapoho is a quiet community on the eastern tip of the island. It’s often referred to as “Sunny Kapoho” as it sees only about a third of the rain that falls in Hilo. This neighborhood offers easy access to the water and some of the best snorkeling in the state. The gated Kapoho Beach Lots community features access to Champagne Pond - a large lagoon that is geothermally heated to a luxurious 90+ degrees. Just to the south, Kapoho Vacationland is home to the Wai Opae Tidepools, a protected marine sanctuary filled with tropical fish, coral gardens, and all manner of spectacular sea life.

You’ll have a blast exploring along the Red Road – one of the most beautiful drives you’ll ever take. Heading south from Kapoho you’ll find Ahalanui Park, aka Millionaires Pond, a park with a lagoon at the ocean’s edge that is almost Jacuzzi temperature. 5 minutes past there is Isaac Hale Park at Pohoiki Bay the local hot spot for surfing and boogie boarding, and is home to the boat ramp that the lava viewing boats use. Kehena Black Sand Beach is a 15 minute drive. The Kalapana lava viewing area (Pele willing) is 25 minutes away at the end of the Red Road.

Eclectic Pahoa Town is 9 miles from Kapoho, with yummy restaurants, fun shopping , and necessities like convenience and grocery stores, banks, gas, etc. Historic Hilo is 45 minutes from Kapoho, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about an hour.
