Private West Seattle Puget Sound Waterfront Home close to Downtown Seattle

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,920 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Detached waterfront 3 bed/1.75 bath home with views of the Olympic Mountains

One of few detached vacation rental homes on waterfront in West Seattle, Beach Drive Bungalow is not a condo, townhouse or unit within a home. It's a "whole house" for you to enjoy as your home away from home while in Seattle. The home is located between popular Alki Beach and beautiful Lincoln Park on Puget Sound.

Beach Drive Bungalow is truly a special place. Originally built by a sea captain to live in while building a neighboring home, the property has evolved over the years. It has a wonderful casual and warm ambiance. Guest have the entire home and also the "back yard" which extends to the seawall and Puget Sound.

There is one step to the front door. Once inside the home, there are three steps to the main floor, which includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom and a balcony. Down stairs there is another bedroom, bathroom, game/rec room (with futon), laundry room and door that opens to a covered patio and the back yard that leads to the seawall.

As people who love to travel, we have made this home a place that we would enjoy staying in. We hope you do too!

Step into the home and you'll see stunning views of the Puget Sound from the dining and living room. Beautiful hardwood floors and the fireplace add to the warm ambiance. The home has been tastefully decorated with a nautical theme.

The living room has a large screen 4K smart TV to catch the big game, watch a show or enjoy some tunes. The sectional is very comfortable and great for relaxing.

The living and dining room are open which makes it great for spending time with your family and friends. The dining room has a mirrored bar equipped with Schott Zweisel wine glasses and margarita glasses.

There is a tower fan in the living/dining room area for warmer days. (Fans are in storage over cooler times of the year).

The kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware and serving-ware. All appliances are new as of March 2016. Some basic spices are included in the pantry. For a complete list, please contact us.

The spacious upstairs balcony is covered and has plenty of seating to take in the sunsets. The balcony is essentially an outdoors living room with an area rug, coffee table, love seat and chairs and plenty of pillows.

The upstairs bedroom has a sliding door, opening to the deck and to view Puget Sound. The queen sized bed has long-thread Egyptian cotton bedding and down alternative comforter and pillows. You may notice the floors have a slight slope towards the west end of the room - this is not unusual for older waterfront homes. Kick back in the papasan chair to enjoy the views or read a book. The bedroom has a tower fan for warmer days.

The downstairs features another private bedroom. The queen sized bed has long-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and down alternative comforter and pillows.

The rec room serves as an additional bedroom with a deluxe futon that folds out to a full sized bed. The futon is more of a "mattress" and very comfortable. Even the futon has long-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and down alternative comforter and pillows.

The large screen smart TV equipped with Roku. A Foosball table is ready for a friendly competition.

The library in the hall has books and games for your enjoyment during your stay.

The 3/4-bathroom with a shower, features a penny floor and mosaic tiles. The bathroom is equipped with soft Turkish towels. It's truly a work of art.

The laundry room has a full sized washer and dryer. It is stocked with detergent and has an ironing board and drying rack.

Downstairs stays very cool during warm days - you would almost think it had air conditioning!

The backyard has a covered patio & gas bbq. There is plenty of seating to enjoy the surroundings. Watch sunsets, sea-life and all types of boats pass by from the built in bench and deck along the seawall/bulkhead.

There is parking available on the street.

You can walk to the Alki Light House, Alki Beach or to the many parks along Beach Drive. The home is located 7 miles to the stadiums and 8 miles to downtown Seattle. It's in a great location for a relaxing get-away and not too far away from the City.

Many of our guest us the home as a launch pad to visit beyond Seattle. Some travel to Mount Rainier, Snoqualmie Falls and Leavenworth while others decide to ditch their well made plans and just hang out at the Bungalow and enjoy West Seattle.

About Rob and Rhonda Porter

We have lived in West Seattle for over 20 years and actually live next door to this property. The homes are set to where there is plenty of privacy.

We are happy to provide any suggestions for things to do during your visit upon your request.

Rob and Rhonda Porter purchased this house in 2015

Why Rob and Rhonda Porter chose Seattle

This home was originally built for the owners to live in while they built the home next door, where we currently live. It's said that the homes were owned by a sea captain back in the late 1920's.

The home has a lot of charming character and a relaxing atmosphere. Located on Puget Sound, the views of the water and Olympic mountain range are breathtaking.

We are pleased to have them re-united under the same ownership.

What makes this house unique

This waterfront home has views of Puget Sound from the bedrooms (partial view in the downstairs bedrooms) and the living room. The main room has an open concept with beautiful hardwood floors. It has a covered deck and patio to enjoy the bluest Seattle skies and the grey ones too! The property has a private bulkhead/seawall and patio garden - great spots to sip your morning coffee or catch a sunset with a glass of wine.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My best girl friends and I stayed at the Beach House to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was the perfect house to relax and have fun. There was a welcome basket waiting at arrival filled with a selection of drinks and snacks. The view from the balcony was amazing! So peaceful and relaxing. We sat outside the first night and talked until after midnight! Both bedrooms have very comfortable beds and are beautifully decorated. The location is very convenient to the Junction in West Seattle and to downtown Seattle. We can't wait to meet up again at the Beach House. It was an unforgettable weekend. Thanks so much to Rhonda and Rob!

We have a pair of binoculars available for our guest to watch wildlife, eagles, osprey, king fishers, seals, otters and the many different types of watercraft that pass through Puget Sound. Amenities are subject to change. We continue to add items to the Bungalow that we think our guest will appreciate. We hope everyone treats these items well and sometimes items may break or need repair. In the event an item is damaged, such as the Foosball table or binoculars, it may not be available during the stay. We obviously hope this is not case and everything stays in working order.

Girls birthday getaway

  • 5 of 5

6 girlfriends visited Seattle from Texas to celebrate a milestone birthday. We were thrilled with our stay at Beach Drive Bungalow and the hospitality of our hosts Rhonda and Rob, and especially their fur baby, Hitch! The home amenities were wonderful, the furnishings were very comfortable, and the patio and view of Puget Sound were breathtaking. West Seattle and Alki Beach was a perfect destination to relax, enjoy morning coffee while watching the birds and boats along the water, and spend the evening with a glass of wine watching the sunset. We hope to return and create more memories. Cheers!!

Great views and a relaxing home

  • 5 of 5

My Dad, Brother, and I loved the house. It was great for an extended weekend getaway. The little touches and quirkiness of the place were fun. The star of the show was the view though. It was so relaxing to hang out and visit while watching Puget Sound. Loved it!

Great views and sunsets!!

  • 5 of 5

Rob and Rhonda were great hosts!!! I broke my leg 3 weeks before our trip and they went over and above to accommodate me! Installed shower wand and got a bath bench for the main floor bedroom. Couldn’t have been more comfortable. Great location, easy parking right in front of the house. Beds were great and we enjoyed the unique decorations and gift basket. We were blessed with a sunset not to be forgotten. Wished we could have stayed a week! Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic property with a view

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy to find this place to stay when we were in Seattle. The house is precious, perfectly clean and very comfortable. The owners have done an excellent job on this place. It is on Alki Island which is a cute area close to Seattle. Everything was exactly as described. I highly recommend this place. You’ll love the porches, the view, the home, the location and the area.

Owner's Response: Hi Kasey, Thanks so much for taking such great care of the home - we are glad you enjoyed your time in Seattle. Alki is great neighborhood - it's actually the birthplace of Seattle. It does feel like an island in many ways as even though you are only about 8 miles away from downtown, the relaxing and fun vibe feels like a different city. Although Alki has sandy beaches and the most common way to downtown is via the West Seattle Bridge or the foot ferry, it's actually more of a peninsula - you can even get to downtown without using one of the bridges. We hope you can all return soon!
