Private West Seattle Waterfront Home not far from Downtown Seattle

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,920 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Your Home Away From Home On The Shores Of West Seattle.

This home is truly a special place. Originally built by a sea captain to live in while building a neighboring home, the property has evolved over the years. It has a wonderful casual and warm ambiance. Guest have the entire home and also the "back yard" which extends to the seawall and Puget Sound.

There is one step to the front door. Once inside the home, there are three steps to the main floor, which includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom and a balcony. Down stairs there is another bedroom, bathroom, game/rec room (with futon), laundry room and door that opens to a covered patio and the back yard that leads to the seawall.

As people who love to travel, we have made this home a place that we would enjoy staying in. We hope you do too!

Step into the home and you'll see stunning views of the Puget Sound from the dining and living room. Beautiful hardwood floors and the fireplace add to the warm ambiance. The home has been tastefully decorated with a nautical theme.

The living room has a large screen 4K smart TV to catch the big game, watch a show or enjoy some tunes. The sectional is very comfortable and great for relaxing.

The living and dining room are open which makes it great for spending time with your family and friends. The dining room has a mirrored bar equipped with Schott Zweisel wine glasses and margarita glasses.

There is a tower fan in the living/dining room area for warmer days. (Fans are in storage over cooler times of the year).

The kitchen is well equipped with quality cookware and serving-ware. All appliances are new as of March 2016. Some basic spices are included in the pantry. For a complete list, please contact us.

The spacious upstairs balcony is covered and has plenty of seating to take in the sunsets. The balcony is essentially an outdoors living room with an area rug, coffee table, love seat and chairs and plenty of pillows.

The upstairs bedroom has a sliding door, opening to the deck and to view Puget Sound. There is a queen sized bed with long-thread Egyptian cotton bedding and down alternative comforter and pillows. Kick back in the papasan chair to enjoy the views or read a book. The bedroom has a tower fan for warmer days.

The downstairs features another private bedroom. The queen sized bed has long-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and down alternative comforter and pillows.

The rec room has a futon that folds out to a full sized bed. The futon is more of a "mattress" and very comfortable. Even the futon has long-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and down alternative comforter and pillows.

The large screen smart TV equipped with Roku. A Foosball table is ready for a friendly competition.

The library in the hall has books and games for your enjoyment during your stay.

The 3/4-bathroom with a shower, features a penny floor and mosaic tiles. The bathroom is equipped with soft Turkish towels. It's truly a work of art.

The laundry room has a full sized washer and dryer. It is stocked with detergent and has an ironing board and drying rack.

Downstairs stays very cool during warm days - you would almost think it had air conditioning!

The backyard has a covered patio & gas bbq. There is plenty of seating to enjoy the surroundings. Watch sunsets, sea-life and all types of boats pass by from the built in bench and deck along the seawall/bulkhead.

There is parking available on the street.

You can walk to the Alki Light House, Alki Beach or to the many parks along Beach Drive. The home is located 7 miles to the stadiums and 8 miles to downtown Seattle. It's in a great location for a relaxing get-away and not too far away from the City.

Many of our guest us the home as a launch pad to visit beyond Seattle. Some travel to Mount Rainier, Snoqualmie Falls and Leavenworth while others decide to ditch their well made plans and just hang out at the Bungalow and enjoy West Seattle.

About Rob and Rhonda Porter

We have lived in West Seattle for over 20 years and actually live next door to this property. The homes are set to where there is plenty of privacy.

We are happy to provide any suggestions for things to do during your visit upon your request.

Rob and Rhonda Porter purchased this house in 2015

Why Rob and Rhonda Porter chose West Seattle

This home was originally built for the owners to live in while they built the home next door, where we currently live. It's said that the homes were owned by a sea captain back in the late 1920's.

it was a modest home that has been added onto and updated over the years.

The home has a lot of charm and a relaxing atmosphere.

We are pleased to have them re-united under the same ownership.

What makes this house unique

This waterfront home has views of Puget Sound from the bedrooms (partial view in the downstairs bedrooms) and the living room. The main room has an open concept with beautiful hardwood floors. It has a covered deck and patio to enjoy the bluest Seattle skies and the grey ones too! The property has a private bulkhead/seawall and patio garden - great spots to sip your morning coffee or catch a sunset.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My best girl friends and I stayed at the Beach House to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was the perfect house to relax and have fun. There was a welcome basket waiting at arrival filled with a selection of drinks and snacks. The view from the balcony was amazing! So peaceful and relaxing. We sat outside the first night and talked until after midnight! Both bedrooms have very comfortable beds and are beautifully decorated. The location is very convenient to the Junction in West Seattle and to downtown Seattle. We can't wait to meet up again at the Beach House. It was an unforgettable weekend. Thanks so much to Rhonda and Rob!

We have a pair of binoculars available for our guest to watch wildlife, eagles, osprey, king fishers, seals, otters and the many different types of watercraft that pass through Puget Sound. Amenities are subject to change. We continue to add items to the Bungalow that we think our guest will appreciate. We hope everyone treats these items well and sometimes items may break or need repair. In the event an item is damaged, such as the Foosball table or binoculars, it may not be available during the stay. We obviously hope this is not case and everything stays in working order.

Beautiful home, beautiful location. Definitely a repeat visit in the future.

  • 5 of 5

We can't express enough how exceptional our stay was. Can we say location, location, location. The house is beautifully maintained we found it hard to leave and go exploring. Everything on Alki is with in walking distance. Within a few hundred feet is a little park on the waters edge. As wonderful as the property is our hosts were even better. They went above and beyond to make our stay one if the most memorable. A must do and redo.

Best Part of Our Trip

  • 5 of 5

Being able to stay in this home saved us over half of what it would have cost to get my family two hotel rooms for the week and the perks were amazing. Not only were the sunsets great, to have the ocean at your door step, with the seals and one eagle who decided to visit, could never be experienced at a hotel. The bungalow was clean, quaint and provided plenty of room for the five of us. Being from out of state, I'm still really confused though, about all the recycling rules ;-) .

The owners(Rob and Rhonda) were close by and very nice. Make sure you say hi to Hitch!

Overall, it was a hit! The kids loved it and I would visit again in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you and your family enjoyed the home and hope you can come back soon! We totally agree with the recycling we have to do in Seattle - it can be a hassle! I just added the graphics that we have in the Welcome Book to our indoor trash/recycle containers... hopefully that will help future guest. Thanks again!

We loved this gorgeous beach bungalow! The décor is lovely and the attention to detail makes looking around the house full of fun little discoveries. The view from the back porch and the patio of the water is just fantastic. The kitchen had everything we wanted for putting together a meal at home. There are also great places to eat nearby. The owners were very friendly and easy to work with.

Beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

This is a cute house, with original details throughout to keep with its 1920's charm. The location couldn't be better. It is a short drive to the main beach, restaurants, and activities or up the hill to grocery stores. Lots of spaces to sit and enjoy the views/sunsets throughout the home, up on the deck or down below on the patio. The owners are conveniently next door if you need anything during your stay, though the house is well-equipped with anything you would need. We enjoyed our stay.
