You can have a true tiny house experience! You won't regret it!
About Lisa Richter
My husband and I built this tiny house and look forward to hosting you! Sorry our photo is sideways! I grew up in Lansing and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in environmental studies. The hubby grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. We are interested in simple living, cooking, gardening, & building. We both have traveled (Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Europe, Mexico, etc.) and lived in different parts of the country. We enjoy learning new skills like maple sugaring, crafts, and working to find a balanced life. We welcome the opportunity to host you!
Lisa Richter purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Lisa Richter chose Frankfort
We love the beautiful trees, the stars at night, the proximity to awesome trails, beaches and towns, and so much more!
What makes this Cabin unique
A rare chance to try out tiny house living in a beautiful setting. We lovingly built this tiny house ourselves and it has so many little personal touches you will enjoy. It features reclaimed woods, including some 100 year old + birch flooring taken out of the Elk Rapids Town Hall. We provide fair trade coffee and a french press for our guests.

Great & unique experience in a tiny home!
The pictures do not do this tiny home justice! It is much more charming and cozy in real life and features many amenities to make your stay wonderful. Plus it is in a great part of the state and close to Downtown Frankfort and many small and beautiful towns nearby. Note that the tiny home is for the adventurous: no indoor bathroom, wifi, or a couch. But it is an amazing experience!
Lisa and Jon are great hosts. They were very responsive and even made muffins for us and doggie donuts for the pups.
One thing I wish I had known prior to booking: unattended dogs are not allowed in the tiny house. Just a note for planning your trip!
Thank you, Irda:) I am so happy you had an amazing experience! We are so happy that our guests love the tiny house experience. I appreciate your reminding other possible future guests that the tiny house isn't for everyone:) It is a change of pace from nearly everyone's home life and that change of pace can be so sweet.
I apologize if my communication wasn't clearer about our dog policy. Our general dog policy is that we don't allow unattended pets in the tiny house but I try to inform our guests that if their pet is well-behaved, I am happy to be flexible on this. We have many guests who successfully leave their pups behind when they go out-I just like to check in with folks before that happens. If any future guest has a question on this, just let me know! We just want to make sure all of our guests have a great experience!
Thanks again, Irda:) I hope to host you all again:)
We are close to the Arcadia Dunes Preserve and awesome trails and beaches! Plus, we are not far from the cute towns of Frankfort, Elberta, and Beulah. Many of our guests visit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and venture to Traverse City as well!
