Enjoy a secluded mountain getaway on Lake Nantahala in this newly built luxury retreat. Built in 2015, this cabin is peacefully nestled in a quiet cove with easy/gentle access to the lake and a private dock where you can swim, paddleboard, canoe, fish, and relax. (canoe and paddle board included with rental). The home has two large covered porches on both levels – each providing beautiful lake views. On main, there is a master, a full bath, open living and kitchen area with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Downstairs is a bunk room/family room with a second fireplace (two sets of bunk beds & two daybeds), a full bath and a second bedroom. The home is newly furnished, attractively decorated, and includes stainless steel appliances, gas grill, full size washer & dryer (on main), two 40” HDTV’s; two DVD Players, Dish satellite cable TV and WIFI Internet included.

You’ll likely not even touch the TV remote with all there is to offer in the area such as hiking, white water rafting/kayaking down the renowned Nantahala river from the NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center), mountain biking, horseback riding, zip lining, geocaching, etc. The Harrah’s new Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC is also a nearby option.

Lake Nantahala is the highest elevated lake east of the Mississippi River at 3,100’. The lake has salmon (only one on the east coast), walleye, pike, lake trout, brown trout, bluegill, crappie, and smallmouth and largemouth bass. The average salmon in Nantahala is 18". The lake flows into Nantahala Gorge which also offers great fly fishing too.

You can also rent a ski, fishing or pontoon boat from The Lakes End Marina by calling 828-321-3001. Also Jeff at 321-828-BOAT, Nantahala Marine rents boats and will actually bring them to the dock and meet you which really makes it easy.

And since you’re on vacation, treat yourself to the personal chef services of Diane Mitchell to have a dinner prepared or just have some groceries delivered before you arrive. You can contact Diane at 828-321-3397.

Very secluded on the quiet part of the Lake

  • 5 of 5

The house was newly constructed, modern and spacious. The wood floors, walls and ceilings were a beautiful natural pine and cozy. The home was neat and clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The dock was about 100 yards from the back door but easy to get to. We cast our line in the water for about an hour but the lake temperatures were too low for any fish to be anywhere in the cove. Word of warning: the last couple miles to the house are on a winding dirt road. Don't rely on your iPhone to navigate because you are miles from cellular connection. Andrews is the last place to get groceries and that is a twenty minute (or more) drive from the house. Oh, put instructions on how to light the downstairs fireplace. It wasn't apparent that you had to light it like a water heater but I did figure it out.

We really had a great and relaxing time and want to come back some time.

Cozy, comfortable, and clean

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very cozy, clean, and adequately equipped. The motion-sensor thermostats are very cool, but resulted in some very cold returns to the house after being out all day — the temperatures inside dropped to about 64 and the heat pump struggled to get it back up to 70 by the time we went to bed. To be clear we were here in March and the outside temps were topping out in the 40s and were as low as 26. This is not likely to be a concern during the summer months. We managed to stay connected through the slow, but consistent, internet service. We know coming to Nantahala that we will not have cell service and we are at the mercy of satellite internet. If you are going to be craving screen-type or board-type entertainment, bring your own DVDs and games with you; we didn’t find any in the house. We had brought plenty to read, though, and caught some TV shows. The dock is in good shape and were able to take the canoe out for a nice paddle when it warmed up toward the end of our stay. Would highly recommend the cabin.

Beautiful Home, perfect location

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home right on the lake. My family had a great time during the Thanksgiving holiday. This home would be the perfect location in the summer months as we could utilize the lake more then. The only issue we had was the wi-fi is not very good. It was hard to get signal and would crash often. Personally I think that was perfect but the teenagers did not. LOL. We went into town and bought board games and spent most of the time laughing, so it was all good. We gifted the home with a box of apples to apples for future families to enjoy. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Cabin in secluded lakeside setting

  • 4 of 5

The Cabin is beautiful, but we were unable to use the boat dock due to the lake level being so low also there is no room to turn around your boat if you trailer it to the cabin. The roads to the cabin are narrow and very twisty so be aware if you are trailering a boat. The Chuga public boat launch is not too far away and is very nice. Overall a very nice quite vacation in a beautiful area.

Clean, quiet, great views.

  • 5 of 5

Great stay. Quick response time as we left Florida due to hurricane Irma. Our stay was very relaxing, we utilized the canoe to check out the beautiful lake & did some fishing. Top of the line kitchen with all you need to cook, the grocery store is about 25min in Andrews. There's also a gas grill that's connected to the house gas so you done have to worry about refilling a tank. Plenty of room to sleep with a bedroom upstairs with a queen bed & connected bath. Downstairs there's another queen bedroom & bath, there's 2 futons & 2 double bunks for kids in the living area so it can sleep 6 adults & 4 kids. Everything is top of the line quality and beautiful! The only downside is very slow wifi, almost non existent. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay & you will too!

peaceful stay at lake nantahala

  • 5 of 5

the cottage was very clean and well kept. Todd was very easy to contact and he answered any questions we had in a timely manner. We enjoyed boating on the lake and just relaxing on the peaceful deck. It was one of the best vacations we have had.
