We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying here! The place is gorgeous and very centrally located for all sorts of day trips around Nova Scotia.
The suite is well stocked and very accommodating.
Robert was lovely and made sure we had anything and everything that we needed for the duration of the stay.
Our stay in Nova Scotia
Spacious, comfortable, homely. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. The place was clean, very convenient for local amenities and with a lovely lake just around the corner.
Rob the owner was also very helpful and responsive. Thank you Rob!
Lovely home in a lovely spot
We are a 69 year old couple, looking for a quiet spot, but not too far from things to do. This home more than fit our requirements. Robert greeted us, along with Tegan, and except for borrowing a cookie sheet, we never heard him or saw him. Tegan was out several mornings to pet our dog, and we enjoyed chatting with a 4 year old.
Peggy's Cove is an easy 25 minute drive, if you go early. If you wait til mid morning or later, don't bother. We also did some other scenic drives south, and visited Halifax one day. The Public Gardens are in our opinion the highlight there.
The wifi was fast, and we streamed all our TV, never using the satellite. The kitchen had everything one might need for a week in a rented home. Restaurants were available not too far, as were two large groceries. Really a very convenient home location, and exceptionally quiet. We only used the main floor, never needing the second.
There were a few birds, we brought seed to attract them. Deer were seen daily, and the pheasants also showed a couple of times. We enjoyed our cocktails on the outside deck, looking for wildlife, daily. We go out at 5 PM, and by then the deck is in the shade of the house, and it was usually breezy. But a jacket was all we needed a few evenings.
The home does have air, but we never used it. We had all the windows open most days, closing some in the evenings as it got cool. The reason for only 4 stars instead of 5, no screens on the windows. And there are flies.
Overall, if I was returning to the area, I would try and rent this property again. I believe that about sums up our experience.
Great stay...clean and beautiful location
We stayed at the property for 6 nights. It was clean and had everything we needed. The 2nd/3rd floor unit is in great shape and the remodeled bathroom was beautiful. The unit is just up the road from a small beach which we visited a few times.
Our one issue was that most of the windows did not have screens. Downstairs there is air conditioning, but the upstairs loft bedroom got pretty warm if you did not open the windows. If however we openned the windows quite a lot of bugs flew in....it was a catch 22.
Overall...it was a great trip and a rental I would recommend.
Sorry about the heat... I am having screens made for the windows and I put a couple of fans in the upper bedroom. Thank you for your input. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
Central location for road tripping + top notch host.
Robert (the host) was extremely responsive to my inquiry and remained in touch with me during every step of the booking process. Our booking was last minute, however, the dates were available and we were able to process the booking without any trouble. The suite was immaculate and we had everything we needed (even ketchup, salt and other common pantry items). We loved the private deck and the easy access to the beach across the street (and to Micou's island at low tide)! Keeping the skylights ajar overnight allowed us to hear the waves lapping up against the shore before we drifted off to sleep. Our boys were able to romp in the yard, enjoy a bonfire with Robert and his daughter, and search for crabs and other creatures on the beach across the road. This spot is perfectly situated for road trips to Peggy's Cove (which is absolutely stunning), Lunenberg and other hot destinations. We originally planned to stay in Halifax longer, but were happy to be closer to our touring destinations as the drives were shorter allowing for more exploration time. Make the time to stop for lunch (or treats) at White Sails Bakery (just a few minutes drive) - the poutine is delicious! Lots of groceries and conveniences are located a short drive away. We really enjoyed being greeted by resident deer and birds. A lovely rental.
I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We really enjoyed it. You have two great little boys who Teagan misses. If you are ever traveling to NS again we hope to see you.
lovely place! We didn't want to leave!
This was the perfect spot to end our very special 2 weeks in the maritimes!! Rob was a wonderful host and the place was lovely fully equipped! Perfect spot as it was just a short drive or walk to everything one could hope for on an east coast vacation!
It was a pleasure hosting you. We enjoyed having you as guests. Hope we see you back again in the future!
