In a countryside setting this is a lovely retreat with a touch of luxury
About Susan Williams
We are both Scottish from Aberdeen and Troon. We are both solicitors in our own local firm. We have lived at Balass since 1986 when we were married. we brought up our two sons here. We enjoy all types of sport but we have a real interest in our garden. We started the garden in the courtyard about 8 years ago. It has a Mediterranean feel and the cottage faces onto the courtyard.
Susan Williams purchased this Cottage in 1986
Why Susan Williams chose Cupar
Our own house is adjacent to the cottage. we developed the stables and hayshed when we stopped keeping horses. It was completed in 2017. The buildings are B listed so the development compliments the original Georgian style. The original part of the house was built in 1813. This is an ideal location if you are a golfer as it is not only within easy reach of the many St Andrews courses but also Carnoustie and Gleneagles.
What makes this Cottage unique
Luxury finish, access to wonderful garden, hot tub available to guests. We fell in love with a run down farm house 30 odd years ago and have spent years improving it and now developed something that others can share.

Spent 3 lovely nights in this fabulous cottage; very well appointed, very comfortable beds and beautiful linens.
Absolutely the perfect place to stay, great hosts quiet, comfortable.
Love every detail , all the comforts of a great home into this property.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and had a lovely welcome from the owners. We had everything we could have wished for in a cosy relaxed atmosphere. The cottage was very clean and beautifully furnished and the enclosed garden was very pretty. We did not try the hot tub but it looked very inviting. We would definitely stay again sometime.
thank you for the lovely review. We very much enjoyed meeting you and your family. Come back and see us again soon.
Great place in the country and still close to everything.
My party of four (from the US) stayed at six different locations as we toured Scotland. WashingtonWells House was by far the best! The accommodations were superb. We very much enjoyed meeting our hosts and truly look forward to another stay. Very clean, beds were great, bathrooms perfect. The courtyard and gardens just added to the experience. Susan and Doug, thank you again. You made our trip memorable. See you soon!
We loved having you guys to stay and would truly enjoy seeing you again. Not sure where Washingtonwells House is but we appreciated the great review. Best to you all. Susan and Doug
Fantastic 5-star property!
This property was a fantastic spot to call home. The home feels cozy and freshly new/renovated. Each room was beautifully appointed with a luxurious bed, crisp white linens, plush towels and fluffy pillows. We slept just like we were at home. The kitchen and living are bright and cheerful with skylights and a door that opens to a garden courtyard with a hot tub. There is one bedroom on the main floor, and the other two bedrooms are on the second story, going up opposite flights of stairs at either side of the living/kitchen; so there's ample privacy between the rooms. Every detail was attended too, from luxury toiletries to a kitchen with all the accoutrements to prepare a warm meal. Susan was a gracious owner/host, always available for anything we needed, even allowing us to use their washer/dryer to run a load of wash. The home is a quick 5 minute drive from 3 different grocery stores. We used this location as our home-base as we drove to many places around the countryside. Our family agreed this was the best place we stayed during our vacation in the UK. Highly recommend!!
This cottage was complete luxury, Sue has simply thought of everything. All rooms are very well decorated thoughout but it's the little touches that make this special. As a family of 4 with 2 kids age 9 and 6 all the space outside, the tennis rackets, hockey sticks and other fun stuff all got used. The courtyard was stunning, a lovely are to relax and play safely. The hot tub was the main event for us all. This was perfect for a few days simply relaxing but very close to the main town and attractions. The bed was so comfy I invested in the same mattress topper when we got home. Would love to stay again in the future.
Thanks a million for letting us stay Sue.
Thanks so much for this fantastic review. We are so glad that you enjoyed it and we would love to welcome you back any time. You left the cottage in a perfect state. We so wanted the boys to enjoy themselves as they were our first younger guests - so glad it worked out.
All the best Sue
When you turn off the B940 drive down the lane past the farmhouse. The Cottage is on the right with parking directly outside the Cottage.
