About Arlene S.

I am a native Californian who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I relocated to Sacramento in 2012 to live closer to family and have enjoyed getting to know the Sacramento area. When I retired in 2016, I bought another home in Palm Desert and now spend a good amount of time there. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my Sacramento home with others.

Arlene S. purchased this house in 2014

Why Arlene S. chose Central Sacramento

I bought this home because it is so close to the 26-mile long American River Parkway where one can walk, jog, or ride bicycles along the river without competing with cars. I also like being able to walk or drive a half mile in the opposite direction for coffee, shopping, and dining.

What makes this house unique

Although my free-standing home is in a planned community (some condos and some free-standing homes), it is an end unit, which provides a wonderful sense of physical space and privacy.

Wonderful stay at comfortable, well appointed home

  • 5 of 5

My family had an extended stay for over a month and had a wonderful experience. The home was very clean and had every essential necessary for a great stay. The owner was increadibly responsive and flexible to every request we had. We also used the community pool many times and loved it. I highly recommend this property!

2 month stay

  • 4 of 5

We were house hunting and this was a perfect location for us with easy access to East Sacramento and a short walk to the American River Parkway. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. Arlene is very responsive and It is a quiet location.

Because of the duration of our stay we did a fair amount of cooking and the kitchen is well equipped. One issue is that the house is very dark and could use better lighting. As the living room is sunken this could lead to a trip hazard. The kitchen light cast shadows on all the work surfaces, and an older friend who visited even had difficulty seeing and reading in the house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and kind remarks, Jon. I’m glad you enjoyed staying in my home but am sorry to hear you weren’t satisfied with the lighting. I wish you had reached out to me during your stay. I would gladly have ordered a few more reading lamps for you. I sincerely want all my guests to have a 5-star experience while staying in my home and will do whatever I can to make that happen. Thanks to your feedback, I made a few lighting improvements since your stay. Thanks, again!

The house was clean and very comfortable. The furniture and appointments were first class. Location was excellent to do our exploring of California. Neighborhood was safe to walk around. Owner, Arlene, was easy to work with.

Wonderful Home and Owner

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this house for 1 month over the CHristmas holidays and our adult children joined us for 1 week. The House was wonderful, spotless and had every convenience. The location was perfect, so close to the American River Parkway that we bought bikes so we could ride every day ( weather permitting). The neighborhood is quiet. Arlene had thought of everything so we had all we needed and the few times we called she responded quickly. We were so comfortable we were sad when we left. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Arlene was a wonderful stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for giving my home such high marks, Judy. I’m so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and were comfortable. I am also pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed the American River Parkway. The close proximity to the Parkway factored heavily in my decision to buy the house. I love being able to ride my bike or walk along the American River without fear of being run over by a car! I would be happy to welcome you back someday! -Arlene

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I recently moved to Sacramento and needed a house to live in with my dog for several months while I was looking for a house. This was the best VRBO experience I have had yet. The location of the house is lovely. It is in a secured community and just a short walk to a dog park. The home itself is so well-appointed I did not even have to unpack most of my things to live comfortably. The kitchen is especially well-equipped which was really nice for someone that likes to cook like I do. The beds are very comfortable as is the couch. There are 2 small patios on either side that provided a nice setting for meals when the weather allowed. Arlene was absoultely wonderful to work with and responded immediately to any questions I had. I would highly recommend staying in this lovely home and cannot think of one negative thing to say!
