The picturesque town of Salies-de-Bearn is situated halfway between the Atlantic coastal beaches and the Pyrenees.It is an ideal base to explore the many and varied activities and sights of the region.
Within walking distance of the villa is the historic thermal spa,restaurants,bars and shops,an open air swimming pool,tennis,squash,fishing,golf,a casino,cinema and tourist office.Very close to the villa is the Voie Verte,once a railway line,now a track through the beautiful countryside for walkers and cyclists.
Activities nearby include horse-riding,canoeing,fishing ,walking along many marked trails and cycling.Within 20 minutes drive there is a large lake with a beach,life-guards,large inflatable play area,paddle boats,waterski-ing and a lakeside restaurant.
The medieval fortress town of Sauveterre de Bearn is 15 minutes drive away, with it's famous Pont de la Legende and Eglise Sainte -Andre.It was an important stop-over on the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela. There are beautiful walks along the Gave d'Oloron, great fishing and it is possible to swim in the summer.
In less than an hours drive are the Atlantic sandy beaches and dunes of Cap-Breton,Hossegor and Biarritz.Here there are surfing schools for all ages,paddle boards for hire and restaurants to suit all tastes.
