About Scott

I grew up visiting Beaufort and visiting my grandmothers house (this house) on Front Street and have a ton of great memories. I live in Goldsboro which is 2 hours away and I have been able to spend time every year in Beaufort. We spend a lot of our time on the water and I don't think you will find a better place anywhere for boating, swimming, or enjoying a coastal town.

Scott purchased this cottage in 1990

Why Scott chose Beaufort

My grandparents built this property in the 1950s. At that time, houses were cooled by opening the windows, clothes washing was done by hand, and black/white TV was available. We have made numerous upgrades to the property over the years, such as central HVAC, laundry room, etc, but the home is very comforting and personal to us. It is a great place to relax and enjoy coastal living.

We stayed at this house last summer had a great time. Our visit this time was for a different reason. So glad that the house was available. Just the right size for my family. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting Beaufort. Great location.

more than promised

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over Thanksgiving, branches of our family from Virginia and North Carolina. Everything promised was there, and it's close enough for great walks in to town and out to the point for sunrises. All the appliances worked well, and beds were comfortable. We're deeply grateful for owner, housekeeper, and folks in Beaufort who cooked fine food!

Beautiful well kept place - great location!

  • 5 of 5

We - 4 adults and 2 teenagers - had a great time at the cottage!

3 big bedrooms, large and comfy living, dining and kitchen area, 2 bathrooms: perfect for us all. Well equipped kitchen, enough bed linen and towels.

(Only the sitting options at the dining table were a tad bit limited for us 6, and 2 of the bed rooms didn't have any bedside lamps which made it difficult to have my 2 pages of reading before going to sleep, but this was just a minor hickup)

Plenty of parking space in front, spacious porch, nice back yard with shade, lots of equipment.

It's in a quiet area but in decent distance to Beaufort center and all the shopping areas.

Scott was very helpful and speedy in answering all our questions - thanks!

We felt at home and enjoyed our time - all in all to be recommended!

Carrot Island (across from property) and Shackleford Banks (1.5 miles from property) offer unique opportunities for swimming, hiking, sitting, shelling, etc and incredible interaction with wildlife including horses, birds, fish, dolphins, rays, skates, etc. If you have your own boat, the public boat ramp 0.5 miles away is a great place to launch.

If you don't have a boat, the National Park Service runs passenger ferry service to these islands from downtown Beaufort. Their concessioner's website is islandexpressferryservice.com. There are also passenger ferry service to Cape Lookout where you can schedule and climb the light house. The views from the top are breath taking!

Beyond shopping and eating, their is a Mariners Museum in downtown Beaufort, Fort Macon in Atlantic Beach (6 miles) and a state run aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores (20 miles). All are worth visiting!

Horse back riding is available at the Cedar Island Stables call 252-342-4677 for reservations and information. Cheryl provided an outstanding experience to ride horses along the beach and through the water if desired. They are location next to the Cedar Island Ferry Terminal at the end of US 70 eastbound. While it takes about an hour to drive, it is a very interesting drive and well worth the trip.
