The building is located a few kilometers away (about 5) from the Franciscan Hermitage of Montecasale, a favorite place of San Francesco during its journeys from Assisi to La Verna and that still preserves the Saint's stone bed, together with the suggestive places , left in their original simplicity and beauty. From the Collina di Piero it is possible to take the "San Francesco in Toscana: from Verna to Sansepolcro" route. Trekking on foot or by bike MBT of 37 Km.
From Sansepolcro are easily reachable places famous for their beauty and charm: Anghiari, only 9 Km, which preserves intact, in its oldest part, the medieval village. From Anghiari we can continue to Caprese Michelangelo, home of the great Renaissance genius. Also in the vicinity of Anghiari, but in Umbria, we meet Citerna which overlooks the beautiful natural amphitheater of the Valtiberina. Nearby, but in the territory of Tuscany, there is Monterchi with the famous Madonna del parto by Piero della Francesca, heritage of humanity. Along the upper Umbrian Tiber valley, just 15 km from Sansepolcro, we meet Città di Castello, the ancient Tifernum, which preserves in its museums the works of one of the greatest contemporary painters: Alberto Burri. Continuing and taking to the Marche Apennines there is Gubbio with its majestic palaces (of the consuls and ducal) famous for the rush of the candles that is held on May 15 and the Palio of the crossbow that is disputed against Sansepolcro the last Sunday of May, while on the second Sunday of September, the eugubini (from Gubbio) and the Biturgensi (from Sansepolcro) crossbowmen face off in Piazza Torre di Berta in Sansepolcro. Just 70 km from Sansepolcro we can visit Perugia (E45 highway, 50 minutes journey). Tuscan cities within easy reach are Cortona (distance 40 Km) with its diocesan museum that preserves the Annunciation of the Beato Angelico, Siena (100 Km), the city of the Palio, Arezzo (36 Km) which preserves the frescoes of the true legend of the pierfrancescani Cross in the Basilica of San Francesco and the crucifix of Cimabue in the Basilica of San Domenico, also famous for the antiques fair on the first Sunday of each month and the Giostra del Saracino in Piazza Grande in front of the Logge del Vasari. Florence can be reached thanks to the highway to Arezzo and then with the A1 motorway (138 Km, 1h and 38). The Sanctuary of La Verna is also within easy reach (E 45, Pieve Santo Stefano, Passo dello Spino) at 37 Km and the Monastery and Hermitage of Camaldoli (via della Libbia, via Umbro-Casentinese) about 70 km away. Places, both, rich in history, spirituality and able to reinvigorate every soul for their being in true contact with nature.
"To friends of the Tiber Valley"
... The soul tired, to you, rests flourishing
Floors austere and happy, you will come.
Famous river the short floor floods;
The vines love the vine; and, to remain
Sweet, among green oaks here is the blonde
Spike at the top of the alpine aura waving.
De the old bullies up the bases
Feed the cow and aim slowly at the ground;
And de le torri, ribaldi hostel,
The useful house for the pious villan grew ...
