About Deb Dreves
We had this picturesque cabin built in 2001 so our kids could grow up loving the outdoors. We like this area so much, we've now bought another home nearby, and now we're sharing our original "getaway paradise" with anyone who loves the out-of-doors and Tennessee!
Deb Dreves purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Deb Dreves chose Altamont
The cabin is secluded, but has this marvelous view of the Elk River Valley. It's a special place to make memories for you and your family. We've had many family reunions here, and members of our families still talk about them, years later, because this is such a special and memorable venue.
What makes this Cabin unique
There are many homes and cabins in the area advertising a "bluff view," but many have views that are largely overgrown or obstructed. The Green Beam Cabin is located atop one of the taller bluffs in the area, so even mature trees are below you as you gaze out from our "perch in the sky"! Plus, many rental cabins in the area are within earshot of Interstate 24, which isn't conducive for total peace and tranquility. At the Green Beam Cabin, you never hear I-24, and only rarely hear any kind of motorized vehicle. It's such a rare treat these days to sit on a porch -- anywhere, much less with a view like ours -- and not hear any sounds of civilization. The Green Beam truly defines the phrase "get away from it all," yet is only a 20 minute drive from the interstate, and 30 minutes or less from restaurants, groceries, and all that "civilization" in nearby Monteagle. At the same time, you're less than 15 minutes from some of the most amazing hiking, waterfalls and other overlooks in Tennessee's largest state park, South Cumberland. We know we sound like a commercial, but these are all the reasons we chose to build this cabin in this special place, and after you spend some time here, we think you'll agree!

Great cabin, views, and location - was very relaxing and special
Beautiful View, Great Stay
If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful stay, this is your place. I came up here to write and read and relax, and I was not disappointed. I only saw one neighbor walking a dog as I left, and heard another neighbor coughing early in the morning, but otherwise felt completely alone. It was amazing!
A blissful location!
Oh yes. You can stare at the pictures online and know that it looks good. But only after you get there can you hear the music of the wind in the trees joined with the grace notes of birds and nature. It truly is a lovely place.
Cozy cabin with a fantastic view
The cabin is well- appointed and has an amazing view off the front porch. It is convenient to the Savage Gulf natural area and other hiking spots. The owner is very responsive and accommodating. Overall a great experience.
